As Donald Trump prepared to become the 45th President, the journalists at ABC couldn’t help but focus on every detail of Hillary Clinton’s outfit. World News Tonight anchor David Muir focused on “the statement she's making historically by wearing white.”
He sympathized, “A lot of people tweeting about the fact she's in white today. Saying it's the color of the suffragette movement. As we know, a lot of women will be protesting tomorrow in Washington and around the country at separate rallies.”
Muir highlighted, “But a lot of tweets: ‘For your bravery.’ ‘Love the white Hillary Clinton.’ Someone else tweeting, ‘Thank you for your grace and reminding us that we stand on the shoulders of lady giants.’"
Former Bill Clinton operative George Stephanopoulos couldn’t get over the image of Bill and Hillary Clinton walking in, marveling, “What a picture this is.... So much disappointment for them” He added, “They thought up until the last moment they thought this was a campaign they would win. Instead Donald Trump with a tremendous upset.”

10:51GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: And what a picture this is. There is former President Bill Clinton. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton coming in. So much disappointment for them. They thought up until the last moment they thought this was a campaign they would win. Instead Donald Trump with a tremendous upset. We see them about to take their place on the west front as President Obama and president-elect Trump drive to the capitol. A lot of power on that screen right now Matthew Dowd.
DOWD: It's a tremendous moment. As we look at all this and the unexpected journey the country has been on in the last 18 months that most people thought would end up completely differently. The screening would be flipped here that most people thought. But we're in a disruptive time and we have a president that's going to take office that no one expected.

LARA SPENCER: An American designer who dressed Hillary Clinton all throughout the campaign, Ralph Lauren and is dressing Hillary Clinton today.JOE ZEE: He is dressing Hillary Clinton today. The fact that Ralph Lauren is a publicly traded company. Can’t really afford to draw political lines. He is a bipartisan designer.
SPENCER: Yes. I hear the giggles in the studio. One last look. There is the presidential motorcade passing us from the White House to the Capitol for the swearing in. George, let’s take it back to you.
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Thank you, Laura. Thank you, Joe. David Muir, there is some
comment on social media about Hillary Clinton wearing white.MUIR: Yeah. Less of a fashion statement. But the statement she's making historically by wearing white. A lot of people tweeting about the fact she's in white today. Saying it's the color of the suffragette movement. As we know, a lot of women will be protesting tomorrow in Washington and around the country at separate rallies. But a lot of tweets “for your bravery. “Love the white Hillary Clinton." Someone else tweeting, “Thank you for your grace and reminding us that we stand on the shoulders of lady giants.”
