During an interview with former Vice President Dick Cheney Monday morning to share remembrances of the late President George H.W. Bush, Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie reminded Cheney, who served as Bush 41's defense secretary, that the former president had once criticized him for being too “hardline.” 

Like much of the media, ABC News celebrated the announcement from Dick’s Sporting Goods that it would be restricting gun sales following the Parkland school shooting in February. However, when it was reported on Wednesday that the retail chain was suffering a financial backlash for the decision, ABC was the only broadcast network to ignore the story.

Appearing on NBC’s Today show, Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi bemoaned the “tumultuous” Trump presidency and slammed the administration’s immigration policy, accusing the Border Patrol of “tear-gassing children.” She also discussed the September New York Times op-ed she wrote attacking then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Despite the eventual projections that Democrats would retake the House of Representatives on Tuesday night, NBC News was still uneasy, admitting that “Donald Trump and his followers are still intact” and “there is not a blue tsunami” that could be because of the unpopularity of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

On Friday, NBC’s Today show bemoaned President Trump denouncing illegal immigration on the campaign trail ahead of the midterm elections, claiming he was going “all-in on the fear factor” before voters went to the polls on Tuesday. Of course just days earlier, all three networks were touting the progress of a caravan of thousands of migrants from Central America heading for the U.S. border.  

Tuesday morning the three networks continued their fawning coverage of the thousands of illegal aliens heading to the U.S./Mexico border while ABC and NBC spent additional time worrying that President Trump’s “threats” about the caravan would motivate Republican voters to the polls.

On Monday, all three broadcast network morning shows offered a heroic portrayal of the caravan of thousands of illegal immigrants heading to the U.S. border from Central America. Anchors and correspondents were particularly thrilled by the group “defying” President Trump’s demand that they turn back, being “undeterred” from “their mission to get to America.”

In a big legal victory for President Trump, a federal judge late Monday tossed out a defamation lawsuit filed against him by porn star Stormy Daniels and her lawyer/possible 2020 presidential candidate Michael Avenatti, demanding they pay Trump’s attorneys fees. On Thursday, before conducting an exclusive live interview with former First Lady Michelle Obama, Today show host Savannah Guthrie enthusiastically reported on Mrs. Obama’s “work inspiring others” being “far from over” as she launched a get out the vote effort to help Democrats ahead of the midterm elections.  

During an exclusive live interview with Michelle Obama on Thursday’s Today show, co-host Savannah Guthrie touted the former First Lady’s “famous” motto of “When they go low, we go high.” However, the NBC anchor then highlighted other prominent Democrats recently calling for the party to abandon any pretense of civility when attacking Republicans and wondered if Obama’s saying “still stands.”

During an interview with Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie aired Friday morning, liberal talk show host Ellen DeGeneres reacted to allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by blasting the judge for being able to “get away with” being “angry” during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in which Democrats were smearing him as a rapist.

In an interview with Republican Senator Jeff Flake and Democratic Senator Chris Coons on Wednesday’s Today show, co-host Savannah Guthrie feared that the FBI inquiry into allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was being “rushed” and even suggested that the federal judge may have lied under oath during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing a week earlier.
