Drive around outside at about daybreak and it is not an unusual sight to see men leaning against the outside walls of convenience stores chugging from cans wrapped in brown bags. Most often the brew of choice among such men is Colt 45 malt liquor. However, don't be too surprised if among such early morning Colt 45 fans, you spot Jake Tapper, host of CNN's The Lead, taking a chug from this brew and, perhaps, handing it off to his colleague, Wolf Blitzer. Such a speculation is not totally off the convenience store wall since Tapper seems to have embraced the image of an enthusiastic Colt 45 fan as can be seen in his tweet below.

This sudden embrace of Colt 45 by Tapper was induced by his appearance on the Comedy Channel's The Daily Show last night. Host Larry Wilmore did a routine where his 1970s SuperFly like self time traveled to the present to question a panel including Jake Tapper. The panelists were given Colt 45 cans as refreshment and Tapper certainly appeared to be refreshing himself quite a bit to the extent that the 6% alcohol jolt after his first swig seemed to cause him to flub the first question that Wilmore asked him as you can see in the following video.
So does this portend a new career avenue for Jake Tapper as perhaps a spokesman for Colt 45? If such a suggestion seems out of the realm of possibility, it is no more unusual than, say, a posh British actor doing a television commercial for Thunderbird wine. And, in fact, that is exactly what happened sometime in the 1960s when the highly articulate James Mason explained why he was supposedly such a connoisseur of Thunderbird wine.
I like the unusual flavor of Thunderbird wine. It's an exceptionally good drink for every occasion. Thunderbird has an unusual flavor all its own. Not quite like anything I've ever tasted. I suggest you try Thunderbird. It's really delightful.
The reason why it's not quite like anything he ever tasted is because Mr. Mason probably never sampled antifreeze. In any event, should Jake Tapper find a roadblock in his path to Colt 45 spokesman, he might be able to land a Thunderbird wine gig. All he needs to do is to learn the following jingle, not quite like anything you ever heard. It's really delightful:
What's the word? Thunderbird!
What's the price? A dollar twice!
Exit question: How many times did you spot Jake Tapper taking a swig from his Colt 45 on The Daily Show?
