In the newest platter of chatter on the NewsBusters Podcast, executive editor Tim Graham explores the depths of the "Ocasio-Cortex" and how the socialist Congresswoman from New York has told an engrossing tale of how frightened she was during the Capitol riot on January 6.
The networks energetically dramatized an "Instagram Live" account that she gave, and no one questioned any of her facts, including her "revealing" she was a victim of sexual assault. She then compared this alleged assault to Republican "abusers" who wanted to move on, as if the riot wasn't a big deal.
The "independent fact-checkers" as a pack surrounded AOC in a defensive crouch, denouncing "bad-faith smears" by conservative websites like RedState and the Daily Wire. Only CNN's Daniel Dale managed to evaluate some of Ocasio-Cortez's vivid claims, like Ted Cruz tried to have her murdered. There was "no evidence," said Dale. Why couldn't the others manage such an easy task?
Senior Analyst Kyle Drennen joins the podcast to discuss how the networks adored the Super Bowl ad by Bruce Springsteen for Jeep, where he supposedly was a voice of "the Middle" and a spokesman for the "ReUniting" of America. At podcast time, Kyle was also working on how the NBC morning folks were also delighted to be in the presence of leftist TBS comedian Samantha Bee, who proclaimed that now that Trump is gone, they can just go back to doing comedy and having musical guests...if you consider Bee's snarky routines "comedy."
