Hillary Clinton is certainly having a bad week. Her fellow Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders closing the gap between them, she’s getting called out for her email scandal in certain media circles, and had a confrontational run-in with Black Lives Matter activists. On top of it all, she’s now become fodder for late night comedians, including the most liberal of them.
Larry Wilmore, the hard-left host of The Nightly Show and no stranger to criticism at NewsBusters, chided Clinton on how she botched what could’ve been a great opportunity to change her “secretive” image while she was at the Iowa State Fair.
In a segment called “Blacklash 2016: The Unblackening,” Wilmore ridiculed Clinton’s “secretive” image.
“Hillary seems to care so much about her optics that she always seems to get them wrong,” Wilmore said, contrasting her with Trump, who could apparently not care less what his campaign looks like. Wilmore argued that Clinton should have used her trip to Iowa to “prove that she has nothing to hide,” but instead ended up disappearing behind a black curtain in the middle of a meet-and-greet with voters, walling off a corner of the ballroom.
“When the knock on you is that you’re hiding something from us, a black curtain is not the ideal visual,” Wilmore told Clinton, adding, “Stop it, Hillary.”
He joked to the audience, “when she was packing for this trip, why was black curtain on the list?”….in addition to other items such as pantsuits and a shredder.
Wilmore also mocked Clinton when he aired footage of her eating a pork chop on a stick:
Clinton – did she even taste the pork chop before she said it tasted so good? I gotta give Hillary credit, she completely deleted…I mean completely ate – that’s what I meant to say, …she ate that pork on a stick…I must say that all of the candidates are doing a good job acting like the commoners.
