On Wednesday, NBC’s Today show managed to offer only 14 seconds of the two-hour broadcast to Joe Biden finally answering a question about the corruption scandal swirling around his son Hunter, of course those seconds were focused exclusively on the Democratic nominee angrily trying to dismiss the story.
After mentioning how “Biden gave an interview to a local TV station in another important battleground state, Wisconsin,” correspondent Andrea Mitchell – who earlier in the week tried to falsely paint the Hunter Biden scandal as “Russian disinformation” – noted that the former Vice President addressed “the reports about his son Hunter Biden and claims he profited off the Biden name.”
A clip ran of Biden wailing: “It’s a last-ditch effort in this desperate campaign to smear me and my family. The vast majority of the intelligence people have come out and said there’s no basis at all.”
At the end of the largely softball exchange on Tuesday, WISN 12 reporter Adrienne Pedersen squeezed in a question about the topic:
UNIDENTIFIED MAN [BIDEN CAMPAIGN AIDE]: Adrienne, that’s all the time we have, I’m so sorry.
ADRIENNE PEDERSEN: I just have one more question...
MAN: I’m sorry –
PEDERSEN: ...because Mr. Vice President, it affects Wisconsin. So Wisconsin’s Republican Senator Ron Johnson put out a statement – on Homeland Security letterhead – saying “Hunter Biden, together with other Biden family members, profited off the Biden name.” Is there any legitimacy to Senator Johnson’s claims?
JOE BIDEN: None whatsoever. This is the same garbage Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s henchman – it’s a last-ditch effort in this desperate campaign to smear me and my family. Even the man who served with him on that committee, the former nominee for the Republican Party, said there’s no basis to this. And you know, all – and the vast majority of the intelligence people have come out and said there’s no basis at all. Ron should be ashamed of himself.
Her question was pretty weak, basically inviting Biden to fact-check his own scandal, but at least she brought it up.
After Mitchell’s 14-second mention, NBC’s 3rd Hour Today show managed to provide another 10 seconds, which consisted of correspondent Peter Alexander sympathizing with Biden’s fear that Trump would bring up the scandal during Thursday’s presidential debate: “But specific to the debate, Biden’s team is anticipating that President Trump’s going to unload more of those personal attacks directed at him and at his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings.”
CBS This Morning actually asked voters about Hunter Biden, though co-host Anthony Mason did not like their answers.
Meanwhile, ABC’s Good Morning America maintained the network’s complete censorship of the story.
The fact that it took a local reporter to ask Biden about scandal, shows how much of a partisan joke the national news media have become.
Mitchell’s paltry amount of coverage was brought to viewers by Pampers and Dove. You can fight back by letting these advertisers know what you think of them sponsoring such content.
