After talk radio host Rush Limbaugh disclosed on Monday that he had been diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer, on Tuesday, NBC’s Today show just couldn’t resist the urge to snipe at the conservative icon. In the midst of a report on the troubling health news, a vicious tweet was featured of a left-wing celebrity claiming that Limbaugh “doesn’t think poor people deserve” medical care.
“A powerful voice in conservative talk radio delivering some difficult personal news to his listeners,” correspondent Kathy Park began. However, after a clip played of Limbaugh telling listeners about the serious diagnosis, the reporter claimed: “The announcement from the polarizing personality drawing mixed reactions.”
Think about that for a moment, NBC actually thought it was necessary to tout “mixed reactions” when it came to wishing someone well with a cancer battle.
Following quotes from Fox News host Sean Hannity and President Trump offering their support and prayers to Limbaugh, Park proclaimed:
But others called for more reflection. Actor Jon Cryer tweeting he hopes Limbaugh “gets the best medical treatment....And I hope that while he’s doing it he thinks about why he doesn’t think poor people deserve the same thing.”
It’s bad enough that a Hollywood leftist like Cryer thought that a conservative getting cancer was the perfect opportunity to push government-run health care, but for supposed “journalists” at NBC to promote the attack is truly despicable.
Sadly, Cryer was not the only celebrity to take jabs at Limbaugh.
Thankfully, numerous conservative leaders, including Media Research Center president Brent Bozell have expressed their love and gratitude for Limbaugh being “the True North for an entire movement.”
Here is a transcript of the February 4 report on NBC’s Today show:
