Despite the dismal state of the United States under President Joe Biden as well as the political prosecution of former President Donald Trump, ABC’s This Week anchor George Stephanopoulos was still shocked that according to a recent Wall Street Journal poll, Trump and Biden are tied in a head to head 2024 matchup.
The moment came during the “powerhouse roundtable” segment when Stephanopoulos turned to disgraced former DNC chair Donna Brazile to commiserate with her about the recent polling.
“It is kind of shocking in a way that despite all of the baggage that Donald Trump carries, he's tied with Joe Biden right now,” Stephanopoulos said.
“George, when I looked at that recent poll, The Wall Street Journal, I said, oh. This could keep me up at night,” Brazile fretted.
Brazile attempted to spin the bad polling numbers by claiming “young voters, young black and Latino voters, they're not ready to come back to the party. They're not even looking at the so-called messaging that's been being sent to them about the economy, about climate change, about student debt relief.”
“The President's campaign is going to have to really, you know, go deep and go hard to motivate those voters to come back within the Democratic Party coalition because without them, it is a tight race, and it's going to come down to four states,” she added.
