OH C’MON! Debate Moderator Kristen Welker Once Asked Trump If He Worked for Russia

October 22nd, 2020 8:00 AM

Back in January 14, 2019, as President Donald Trump was about to board Marine One, NBC News White House correspondent Kristen Walker and Thursday’s debate moderator asked maybe one the most obnoxious questions ever asked to the President: “Have you ever worked for Russia? Yes or no?”

The choice of Welker does seem like a “set-up,” as the President told Fox News, especially when you consider Welker comes from a family that has deep “Democrat ties.” President Trump recently tweeted that Welker has “always been terrible and unfair, just like most of the Fake News reporters.”

A review of MRC’s archives shows that the President has reasons to be concerned about Welker’s ability to be fair during Thursday’s debate.

The following is just a handful of Welker’s most biased moments over the years:

Mr. President Are You a Russian Agent?

“Mr. President, yes or no. Have you or are you now have you ever worked for Russia? Yes or no?”

Hitting Kamala Harris as “Insufficiently Progressive”

“[Kamala] Harris had a rapid ascent in California’s legal circles, rising from county prosecutor to San Francisco District Attorney, to California Attorney General, cultivating a moderate political reputation and inviting criticism from some liberals that she was insufficiently progressive on criminal justice issues.”

Even When Dems Lose, They Win!

“Even some of the candidates who came up short aren’t being counted out. Instead, getting buzz as future stars of the Democratic Party, including Beto O’Rourke, who put up a tough fight against incumbent Senator Ted Cruz in Texas....And Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, who went down in defeat in his battle for Florida governor, but keeping the fighting spirit.”

In Obama Years “Stoking Public Fears” About a Virus Was Condemnable

“With public fears spreading faster than the disease itself, some Republican candidates eyeing wins in the upcoming midterm elections are stoking public fears.”
