On Saturday's Fox News Watch, as the panel discussed the substantial attention the media devoted to Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin's claim that forcible rape victims rarely become pregnant as opposed to Vice President Joe Biden's "chains" gaffe, two recent studies by the Media Research Center -- parent organization to NewsBusters -- were cited. Host Jon Scott cited MRC analyst Scott Whitlock's study from Tuesday:
The question we're asking on this program is what about the media reaction to it all, Jim? Twenty-one minutes on the broadcast network morning shows on Tuesday devoted to this controversy.
Regular panel member Jim Pinkerton then brought up another MRC study from Wednesday:
Right, and MRC, the Media Research Center, calculated, I think, 88 minutes total, which is four times as much as Biden. Look, this is an unbelievable firestorm of the kind that you see when the media have a Republican in their crosshairs and they can link that candidate, who is a fairly obscure guy, to the national Republican ticket, Romney and Ryan. This is, as far as the media are concerned, you know, Carol Costello at CNN and so on, this is the Romney-Ryan-Akin ticket.
