Bill Maher Gets Brutally Honest With Democrats: 'So Often Their Own Worst Enemy'

July 1st, 2019 2:39 PM

Every once in a blue moon, there is a member of the leftist media mob who is willing to stand up and state an irrefutable truth. For all of the left- wing propaganda talking points Bill Maher has up his sleeve, he exemplified a rare moment of self-reflection on his party during Friday night’s Real Time.

Maher began his show by having the guts to be intellectually honest about the behavior of the Democratic primary candidates, specifically Julian Castro’s ludicrous claim about transgender women:

Honestly the Democrats, so often their own worst enemy. Still, you know, trying to get the Twitter mob instead of the ninety-eight percent who could give a shit about Twitter. On the first night, Julian Castro won the woke Olympics on the first night when he said trans-females should have the right to an abortion. I agree, now if only they had a uterus. Try telling that in the red states. If a man identifies as a woman then we stand with her right not only to imagine that she’s pregnant, but to terminate that pregnancy which is not possible.

In an interview with Democratic primary contender Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), Maher noted the vested interest the candidates seem to have in illegal immigrants:

Right, well you know, if I was just a passing viewer who was like checking over the field shopping, my first look at a lot of these people, I would have thought well the Democrats really, really, really, really, really care about illegal immigrants. They also care somewhat about health care and um energy and the environment. Mostly about how they affect illegal immigrants. Uh, at one point last night they were asked, or was it your night, to raise your hand if you think that illegal immigrants should get free health care and they all raised their hand. And this was the New York Post headline this morning "Who wants to lose the election.”

Speaking with Joy Reid and Seth MacFarlane during the round table discussion, Maher blasted the news media for turning the primary debates into entertainment television:

I don’t think this can be a serious country until we make the media, the news media, a loss leader again. Like they used to be where they didn’t have to make a profit, because I don’t know who set this up, and I love MSNBC, or the DNC, they could have stopped it.

The Democratic candidates should be quaking in their boots when a late night host is serving them criticism.

BILL MAHER: Honestly the Democrats, so often their own worst enemy.

They also care somewhat about health care and um energy and the environment. Mostly about how they affect illegal immigrants. Uh, at one point last night they were asked, or was it your night, to raise your hand if you think that illegal immigrants should get free health care and they all raised their hand. MAHER: I don’t think this can be a serious country until we make the media, the news media, a loss leader again. Like they used to be where they didn’t have to make a profit, because I don’t know who set this up, and I love MSNBC, or the DNC, they could have stopped it.

JOY REID: The DNC set it up.

SETH MACFARLANE: I think it’s the DNC

MAHER: They could have set it up in a much more mature way. They like this Thunderdome. Like, what’s this thing where how do you break in? Just start talking. There’s no rules. Just interrupt and be louder than the next guy. If you’re talking over three other people who quits first? Game of chicken. This is not the way to pick a President.
