Fox's Ed Henry: Media 'Cheerleading Defeat' With Mexico

June 13th, 2019 11:45 AM

Liberal journalists are determined not to give Donald Trump a win on anything. And that includes his win in achieving a deal with Mexico to curb illegal immigration. This proved too stressful for the media to handle, thus they resorted to their favorite hobby of criticizing the President in any form possible.

Ed Henry appeared on Fox and Friends, Thursday morning, to discuss the disdain the press harbors towards the President, particularly in covering the Mexico agreement. He noted:

They didn't even read what was in the deal. People zoomed in and saw one side of it and said, it's empty, there's nothing written on it, it's a fake deal, and then if you flipped it over, the other photographers got the other side, and then the other photographers got on that and said well what's in writing is not really new, so he lied about that. But when you actually do the reporting and see what’s in here, they are taking new steps to crack down on migrants who are trying to come into America illegally. If that works, and I stress if it works, that's a good thing for America and people should not be cheerleading defeat.

For months, journalists denied there was a crisis at the border. Finally, in April they seemed to belatedly realize just how serious the situation is. Henry noted:

There are many in the media that don't believe it's a crisis. They've allowed Democrats to say for months it's a manufactured crisis. Then the President actually does something about it, and they say well, it's not a big deal. They haven't read the details, then they hear the details and say, well, it's still a humanitarian crisis not a national security crisis.

It is a somber day when a free press spearheads the failure of a country that has fought for them to exist.

BRIAN KILMEADE: Media critics wasting no time criticizing President Trump's deal with Mexico.

KILMEADE: Wait, they didn't like what the President did? Ed Henry joins us now chief national correspondent.

ED HENRY: Good morning

STEVE DOOCY: We should not be surprised at those comments should we?

ED HENRY: They didn't even read what was in the deal. Then when the President had that piece of paper, was it yesterday, and he was saying hey I've got the deal right here and I might tell you about it in a few days. People zoomed in and saw one side of it and said, it's empty, there's nothing written on it, it's a fake deal, and then if you flipped it over, the other photographers got the other side, and then the other photographers got on that and said well what's in writing is not really new, so he lied about that. Well, the Washington Post actually did a good job and they talked to U.S. Officials and Mexican officials, imagine that, that's called reporting, right, and people inside the talks on both sides in both countries said, guess what, there's a whole bunch of new stuff, we should be skeptical as journalists because México has made promises before and they haven't followed through. The President himself has said that. He has said we have been ripped off and robbed from México for years and we need to hold their feet to the fire. But when you actually do the reporting and see what’s in here, they are taking new steps to crack down on migrants who are trying to come into America illegally. If that works, and I stress if it works, that's a good thing for America and people should not be cheerleading defeat.

KILMEADE: His critics should understand they would have more credibility if they give him credit when deserved and then their criticism would have substance. They are ripping him because he's taking action on the one border that allows our border to be flooded with illegals.

HENRY: Meanwhile there are many in the media that don't believe it's a crisis. They've allowed Democrats to say for months it's a manufactured crisis. Then the President actually does something about it, and they say well, it's not a big deal. They haven't read the details, then they hear the details and say, well, it's still a humanitarian crisis not a national security crisis. I think it took former Obama officials like Jay Johnson who came on this program and told the truth, and said you know what, it is a crisis to hold Democrats' feet to the fire.

DOOCY: The great Ed Henry.
