Appearing on the Fox Business Network’s (FBN) Varney & Company on Thursday, Media Research Center (MRC) President Brent Bozell reacted to the lack of media coverage following two Washington Post articles that revealed the Clinton Foundation received millions of dollars in donations from foreign governments, including more than $500,000 from the Algerian government while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State.
Speaking to host Stuart Varney, Bozell called the lack of network coverage surrounding the Clinton controversy “stunning” and that this story “gives the perception of ethical violations” between the Clinton Foundation and the Obama administration during Hillary’s tenure at the State Department.
After Varney argued that such foreign donations expose an “obvious conflict of interest” for Clinton, Bozell noted that when the story first broke on February 18, CBS This Morning gave it only 20 seconds, ABC ignored the story altogether and NBC “which gives nothing when it’s against the narrative of the Obama administration, gave absolutely nothing.”
The MRC president went on to detail how the networks’ lack of coverage surrounding the Clinton Foundation continued with Thursday’s morning broadcasts:
This morning you get news the Algerian government gave $500,000 while it was lobbying, which is a career violation of an agreement which was made by the Clinton administration and the Clinton foundation and the Obama administration. A clear violation. How can that not be news? 31 seconds on CBS. That’s it.
After being asked if the “big three” were “protecting Hillary Clinton” by ignoring this scandal, Bozell argued that there’s a “two-fold” strategy being used by the liberal media:
They’re not only going to protect her as they have protected Barack Obama but they’re going to kneecap anyone who dares go against the other one. Look what they did to Rudy Giuliani in the comments that he made, in four days, 21 minutes of coverage from the same networks.
An analysis by the Media Research Center found that NBC was by far the most excited about Giuliani, giving it 14 minutes 53 seconds of air time, even as they skipped the Clinton Foundation story. ABC devoted 3 minutes 39 seconds to the Giuliani story, nothing to the Clinton Foundation story. CBS gave 2 minutes 50 seconds to the Giuliani story, vs. 51 seconds to the Clinton Foundation story.
