Lipton Tea has made hefty contributions to Planned Parenthood, the National Urban League, and the Center for American Progress – all of which lobby heavily for leftist agendas. According to a weekly report from 2ndVote, Lipton has a history for donating to numerous exclusively liberal lobbies and organizations.
2ndVote, an organization that documents liberal activism, Lipton Tea has a lengthy history of controversial donations. In a weekly report June 30, 2017, the organization listed Lipton Tea alongside JPMorgan Chase, Kaiser Permanente, NBC, Proctor & Gamble, and Quaker Oats as a longtime top financial supporter of liberal agendas.
2ndVote, which scores corporations based on their involvement in liberal corporate activism, gave Lipton a 1 out of 5 on issues ranging from Life to the Second Amendment – the company’s highest score was a 2 out 5 on education.
Lipton’s parent company, PepsiCo, matches gifts directly to Planned Parenthood, and has donated heavily to the Center for American Progress. Listed as donating between $5,000 and $49,999, PepsiCo is included in CAP’s supporters list.
While several conservative outlets, including LifeSite News and the Daily Signal, have reported on the company’s considerable donations to Planned Parenthood, in particular, few others have noted the corporation’s stunning track record for hard-left activism.
