In the face of a culture that constantly mocks Christianity, one actress is speaking out about God’s presence.
On Wednesday, Spy Kids star and former Dancing with the Stars contestant Alexa PenaVega posted a message on Instagram about trusting in God through life’s obstacles and finding the “beautiful important moments” in the everyday.
Since playing Carmen Cortez in the Spy Kids films, the 27-year-old has acted in films including Repo! The Genetic Opera and TV series such as ABC Family’s Ruby & The Rockits.
In her message, PenaVega meditated on the quote, “God will deliver you when the time is right. Until then, He's already supplied grace you'll need to endure.”
“It reminds me that I am never alone,” she said. “That even through the obstacles God is there giving me what I need.”
While PenaVega once wanted to fast-forward through life, she concluded, “I was missing the whole point.”
“When we are going through a day just to get through it... We miss beautiful important moments that we could have shared with others,” she wrote.
She ended with the advice that the smallest acts can make the biggest difference in life.
“[S]omething as simple as taking the time to talk with someone can be life changing for them,” she concluded. “Don't rush today. Take in what you can.”
Along with a picture of herself, PenaVega posted the complete God-centered message on Instagram:
Last month, PenaVega made headlines for overcoming her struggle with bulimia after posting another Instagram message where she brought up God.
On her main Instagram page, she cites Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Although Hollywood routinely pokes fun at Christianity, PenaVega isn’t alone in publicizing her faith. Grammy-winning singer Ciara, recently engaged to Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson, talks about God’s plan in an upcoming Essence cover story.
