ABC’s Last Man Standing has certainly breathed some much needed life into Hollywood’s bashing of Democrats. This week, they continue by bashing how Dems like to solve problems: just throw money at it.
On Friday’s episode “A House Divided,” Mike (Tim Allen) and Vanessa (Nancy Travis) are trying to adjust to the obscene amount of affection their newlywed daughter Mandy (Molly Ephraim) and son-in-law Kyle (Christoph Sanders) are displaying. Since they all live under one roof, Mike and Vanessa try to come up with a solution so they can live in a more wholesome environment.
After some thought, they decide to send them on a honeymoon, as they never had one, figuring it will "get all this out of their system." They fill a jar with money and tell them it’s their spending money. The catch is, for every PDA moment, money is removed. As Vanessa praises Mike for the idea, he slightly regrets succumbing to money for problem solving, like a Democrat.
Vanessa: All right, here's the game. Every time that we feel that you guys have crossed a line, we're gonna take $20 out of the jar.
Mandy: But how will we know when we've crossed a line?
Mike: 'Cause there'll be less money in the jar.
Kyle: Yeah. Look, I-I don't know if I'm gonna be able to do this.
Mandy: Yeah, it's a jar full of money. Get your hands off me.
Mike: Well, look at that. Money does conquer all, doesn't it?
Vanessa: Come on, honey. Let's let the jar do its work. This was a great idea.
Mike: I don't know -- throwing money at a problem. Damn it. We're Democrats.
Hilarious, Mike! We all know how much Democrats love spending taxpayer dollars on B.S. government programs. And if they're failing? Just throw more money at them!
