Alt-Left Insanity: Social Justice Warriors Go Boldly After Star Trek’s Shatner

August 5th, 2017 2:30 PM

Note: Normal people might find some of this offensive. (We hope. Dear Lord, please!)

Erick Erickson says, “You will be made to care.” He couldn’t be more accurate. The alt-left has decided to invade every aspect of our lives and wreck them all.

It’s the reason why ESPN and moronic outlets from Deadspin to the Baltimore Sun want the Ravens to sign cop-hating quarterback Colin Kaepernick. It’s also the reason why the left is now mad at actor William Shatner.

It’s impossible not to know Shatner. He’s a Hollywood icon. He portrayed Capt. James T. Kirk as the man sane people most want defending their planet. Trekkies and non-fans alike know that Kirk defeated the Kobayashi Maru or Star Trek’s unwinnable scenario. That has even got it’s own Wiki page.

But there is one thing more dangerous than Star Trek villains -- Klingons, Cardassians (Not Kardashians, they would be unstoppable.) and even the Borg. Social Justice Warriors. And Kirk, or his IRL persona is now fighting them.

You know you’ve offended the alt-left when you see a headline like this: “Does William Shatner’s attack on ‘SJWs’ erase his ‘Star Trek’ legacy?” No, SJW isn’t a Star Trek villain or even a combination of them. (Find me an original show villain with a W!) It’s our terrifying foes, the Social Justice Warriors.

Salon was whining about how Kirk/Shatner had fired a “tweet storm” consisting of memorable comments like: “And this is your failure of logic. SJWs stand for inequality, where they are superior to any one else hence my use of Misandry and Snowflake.”

The alt-left was quick to question Shatner’s street cred: “There’s debate over whether Shatner is betraying his own ’60s-era belief in social justice issues, one that famously culminated in his sharing the first American televised interracial kiss between himself and African American actress Nichelle Nichols.”

Why? Because whackjob Salon thinks Shatner reads Reddit. Horrors! “Regarding his claims about so-called ‘SJWs’ wanting superiority instead of equality, it is worth noting that his line of reasoning sounds an awful lot like the tripe you tend to find on Reddit. This is, most likely, not a coincidence.”

Naturally, Salon thinks anyone who criticizes the SJWs is a bad guy. “It seems pretty clear that there has been a decline in Shatner’s character, at least when it comes to his past support for equal rights.” Trekkies will see it more as Yangs vs. Kohms. Shatner is the typical Yang (Yankee) doing battle with alt-left Kohms (Communists). My money is on the captain who never loses.

Given the the new Star Trek series has already removed God from its series, this is how extreme the alt-left has become. Which takes us to this week:

Merriam-Webster Playing Alphabet Soup: The alt-left loves to change the language. The right has been fighting and losing this battle for decades. Watch as lefties at the Associated Press say that pro-lifers aren’t pro-life, they are anti-abortion, even though that doesn’t cover issues like Charlie Gard. And their opponents aren’t pro-abortion.

Heavens, no. That would look bad. So they get to be pro-abortion rights. Enter the goofballs at Merriam-Webster. (I believe this is a first for their nuttery to make it into the column, but they’ve been at it for a while.) They’ve got a new “Gender-Neutral Honorific.”

Forget Mr., Miss or Mrs. Heck, let’s miss Ms. Not we’ve got Mx. Which is either short for a missile or perhaps Superman villain Mister Mxyzptlk, in keeping with the geeky nature of today’s column. It’s “pronounced to sound like mix or mux.” This is reminiscent of when a college student was asked what he wanted to be called and he said, “His majesty.”

Actual dictionaryish quote: “The gender-neutral Mx. is used as a title for those who do not identify as being of a particular gender, or for people who simply don't want to be identified by gender.” So, I’ve got it. Mr. for men. Miss/Mrs./Ms. for women. Mx. for ? And BMX for people who think they are bikes?

The South Isn’t Rising Again: Folks in the media hate the South. They have since forever. Slams against the South probably pre-date the republic. Making fun of Southerners in songs has been a cottage industry -- from Tom Lehrer to Neil Young and more. The responses have been just as strong -- like Sweet Home Alabama or Southern Accents.

Now that North vs. South conflict has moved to TV and we competing series in the works to change history. The guys who did Game of Thrones are taking their sex-and-violence-filled strategy to Confederate, an alternate history where the South won the Civil War and slavery remains in present day. The left is jihading against that one with a social media campaign. (I hope they success. It will just be more anti-conservative agitprop.)

But the alt-left seems to have embraced a show entitled Black America that takes place in “a world where the North won the Civil War, but the process of Reconstruction resulted in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama being given to freed slaves, who formed their own nation, New Colonia.”

One of the hard things about alternate history is coming up with a plausible scenario. This one would have the U.S. government evicting about 1.2 million people from three states and then giving them and much of the Mississippi to this fantasy nation. In other words, it’s not plausible. That doesn’t mean Vox doesn’t love it. For social justice reasons. Vox called that ethnic cleansing “Black America’s more utopian vision.”

The Root referred to the idea as the “fantastic, impossible, totally made-up notion that African Americans secured post-Reconstruction reparations and created their own nation.” That doesn’t matter, as long as it gives liberals a chance to push the agenda of reparations. There is no TV entertainment any more, just agenda designed with a veneer of entertainment.

Are You Whorephobic?: We’ve got Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia and now whorephobia. Yep, that’s a thing. At least according to The Establishment (“Media funded and run by women.”) Actual quote: “Like racism, homophobia, transphobia, and all the rest, casual whorephobia and anti-sex work sentiment and views — even among so-called progressives — is endemic.”

So yes, we’re talking phobia about sex workers with the memorable headline: “Kamala Harris’ Whorephobia Is Sadly No Surprise.” Sen. Harris is the darling of the media and the alt-left, but one can never be woke enough, it seems. Why the attacks? “Harris led a charge against the free classifieds website, Backpage, in spite of years of vocal resistance from sex workers.”

According to the LA Times, Harris said, “saying it was used to pimp adult women and children.” The Establishment author is, unsurprisingly, a former sex worker who promotes sex work as OK. Actual quote two: “Most people actually involved in sex work advocate for destigmatization and decriminalization; this viewpoint should be listened to.”

This is the alt-left where even Kamala Harris is seen as too right wing.
