While Trump is getting flack for ‘covfefe’ and his probable exit from the Paris agreement, Modern Family cast member Ariel Winter has decided that Trump is the sole reason women are objectified.
In an interview with Refinery29, the actress shared her thoughts on people who have been shaming her for her selfies that show her scantily clad. She also shared her thoughts on why the Hollywood culture is so into body-shaming and objectifying women.
“Our leadership is really anti-women right now,” she explained to the reporter. “Thanks to Donald Trump, we’re being objectified and made to feel bad about ourselves.” No other explanation given.
So, is the POTUS really responsible for the culture that objectifies women in hundreds of television shows, films, and magazines? Trump was not around long enough to either initiate the slow snowball that has blossomed into the culture.
Even though some of his actions in the past could be seen as misogynistic, or even disrespectful, Winter’s broad comment about how Trump is the reason for women to feel bad about themselves is yet another instance of Hollywood placing the blame for anything and everything on a person they once called their own.
Moreover, it’s not possible for one person to be responsible for what feminists claim have been going on for centuries. And did Winter even find a reasonable solution? She personally thought that it’s important to let women’s bodies “be seen and heard” in order to fix the body-shaming issue.
Her actions are to post pictures of herself scantily clad on instagram.
