Maggie Rodriguez, co-anchor and the star of the week on NewsBusters, had her own perception of sex before marriage. In a separate study from the Australian one (but in the same vein) Harry Smith reads that "Couples who shack up before tying the knot are more likely to get divorced than their counterpart."
With no script, just shock and surprise, Rodriguez lets out, "Really? Now that's surprising. Everybody nowadays does that."
Harry agreed, "Everybody cohabitates."
Ah, "everybody does it."
Matt Titus, author of "Why Hasn't He Called?" took upon himself to explain why men who marry under the age 25 are half more likely to divorce. It's quite simple actually: "...because men that are under 25 most of the time are not eligible candidates for marriage. They haven't had enough sexual experience with varying women, that's very important."
Titus was reducing it to simple animal sexuality, but Smith interpreted it liberally as "[They] are not mature."
Titus continued to explain that "They don't know how to compromise. Haven't mastered the art of that. Aren't ready to have one wife, one woman for the rest of their lives. They haven't mastered the art of monogamy. 25-year-old men are not forward-thinking. They don't think of the repercussions of their actions. They're just not ready."
So, the average CBS viewer can conclude that people should have sex because everybody's doing it and that it's okay that young men are bad husbands because really, they should be out running around to learn how to be a good one first.
Glad they cleared that up.

I'm No Prude
July 15, 2009 - 15:56 ET by HoosierEmI've never been a prude but I find myself being more and more disgusted by these so-called newspeople who decide to speak for everyone when it comes to something as personal as sex - for anyone of any age.

"Everyone" makes it OK

This is a typically childish liberal fallacy - everyone does it so it's OK.
Liberal Mom at 40
July 15, 2009 - 16:25 ET by PharmerTo address the comment -- how would Rodriguez think of her own daughter having sex......
By age 40, a whole lot of these grrrrrls are are burned out and no longer in the game. So they truly live vicariously through the sex lives of their children. This is apparent in their conversation, the attire which they purchase for the kids, and the encouragement for them to start dating at an extremely early age.
I'm the mom of teenagers and watching it happen to many of my kids contemporaries. The phone calls to my son for 'dating' purposes started when he was in the fifth grade. He was not interested. I was faintly nauseated. The "going with" sort of behaviors begin at ridiculously early ages in the schools, even before the lefty parents are willing to support the behavior by offering transportation for the "dates". (When the kids are still in second grade, the parents might be too busy with the last attempts to revive their own sex life.)
From a medical standpoint, the left-moms, more often, and the left-guys to a somewhat lesser degree, are weighed down by the symptoms of multiple sexually transmitted diseases. This puts a big dent in the sex life. Another dent is possibly the succession of relationships and the weariness of existing as a sexual utility rather than a partner in an actual relationship. A third dent is the trouble with extreme obesity. The fake "studies" from the pill purveyors not withstanding, it remains readily observable that it's easy to gain weight and hard to lose it while on the pill. My personal theory that the burgeoning internet porn is significantly fed by people with chronic STDs, obtaining some kind of release.
Yeah, the lefties are passing this FUN down to their kids. Mine know better.
Harriet Smith was not the brightest hippie
July 15, 2009 - 16:26 ET by SickofLibsHarriet Smith 'shacked up' himself once in his younger hippie days.
After a week, the farmer had had enough, came out and kicked him out of the shack and off the property.
The resident sheep were relieved.
