This is entering into the realm of the bizarre -- from the web site of KHQA TV (HT LGF), regarding a story I have saved at my web host from November 5 (bold is mine):
KHQA TV wishes to offer clarification regarding a story that appeared last month on our website ConnectTristates.com. The story, which discussed the appointment of a replacement for President Elect Obama in the U.S. Senate, became the subject of much discussion on talk radio and on blog sites Wednesday.
The story housed in our website archive was on the morning of November 5, 2008. It suggested that a meeting was scheduled later that day between President Elect Obama and Illinois Governor Blagojevich. KHQA has no knowledge that any meeting ever took place. Governor Blagojevich did appear at a news conference in Chicago on that date.
That's fine, except for the fact that the KHQA story in my NewsBusters/BizzyBlog post earlier today was from November 8 -- three days later (link again is to a file saved at my web host, obtained from Google cache shortly before it disappeared). It (obviously) talked about the meeting in the past tense (bold is mine):
Now that Barack Obama will be moving to the White House, his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois will have to be filled.
Obama met with Governor Rod Blagojevich earlier this week to discuss it. Illinois law states that the governor chooses that replacement. There's already been speculation about his selection...from Congressman Jesse Jackson, Junior to Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs Director Tammy Duckworth.
So KHQA is saying it "has no knowledge" that an Obama-Blagojevich meeting it thought in its November 5 story would occur actually did occur.
I suppose the station will also tell us at some point that it "has no knowledge" as to whether the meeting it definitively reported HAD occurred in its November 8 story really DID occur.
Are we having fun yet?

No words to describe the chill on the back of my neck (as opposed to the thrill up Matthews leg) when reading this. The management of KHQA
December 10, 2008 - 20:15 ET by JerThe management of KHQA ought to provide a more detailed explanation than these flimsy couple of paragraphs which raise more questions than they answer.
It would seem, however, that considerably more media outlets would have reported the original story than just a Quincy, Illinois TV website. In any event, whether a meeting was scheduled and did or did not take place should be easily verifiable.

Why would major news outlets cover an ordinary meeting between a Governor and a Senator? Obama probably has a dozen meetings every day. Back then they could not have known that one precise meeting would turn into a pivotal thing.
Besides, they were all too busy telling us about the RNC lawyers returning to Alaska to confiscate designer clothes from Sarah Palin.

December 11, 2008 - 09:45 ET by Jercandance...
In the first place, you'll note that I didn't state "major" news outlets. But, now that you mention it, inasmuch as the prevailing opinion here is that the mainstream media drools over every move of "the Chosen One", doesn't it seem plausible that they would have been all over a story as important as one involving a meeting between the President-elect and the governor concerning Obama's choice for his replacement in the U.S. Senate.
Second, use your noggin'. Even if this were just an ordinary meeting, why would it only be mentioned on one TV station's website--KHQA of Quincy, Ill. It just doesn't make sense. [If it turns out to have been more widely reported, it becomes more credible. But I've yet to see evidence of that.]

Smokescreen
December 10, 2008 - 22:28 ET by ShanghaiRayI can't believe nobody really understands what's going on here. I believe this was all orchestrated by the Obama-Dem crowd to get Blagojevich. Did you read the transcripts of the investigation. There was no love loss between Obama and Blagojevich...he called Obama a MF because Obama and his team didn't want to give him anything for appointing the person they wanted to put in this Senate seat.
If you think Fitzgerald is working for the Republicans you better go back and read how he handled the Plame fiasco. The trail led back over and over to not Dick Cheney and any other White House operative but to Plame herself and that big-mouthed Dem hack Richard Armitage. Fitzgerald completely ignored this and went after the wrong people. On purpose. The Dems wanted a White House scapegoat and they finally got one not on the original charges but some trumped up charge about perjury. Now, he's doing Obama's bidding to get rid of Blagojevich. This investigation started sometime after the election a little over a month ago. When was the last time the FBI ever arrested a Democrat in less than a month after an investigation started? A bit too soon for my comfort. Ever heard of William Jefferson from LA. He's been under investigation for years and to the best of my knowledge has not been formally charged or arrested. I suspect Obama and his minions had word that Blagojevich wasn't going to play ball with them without getting something in return. Obama being the Messiah that he is thought everyone including his Chicago buddies should capitulate. When Blagojevich didn't, this pissed Obama off big-time. Then enters Fitzgerald - the Dems guard-dog.
Now, Blagojevich didn't have enough time to appoint someone and Obama has called for his resignation. Convenient right? This is all payback and control from the Obama crowd.
Jesse Jackson Jr.? Remember what his daddy said about Obama when he thought his microphone was off. Another example of payback time for everyone that has crossed Obama.
I know this all sounds like a nutty conspiracy theorists rant, however, take some time to consider it.
If you all think this is going anyplace as far as Obama is concerned you are all suffering serious delusions.

December 11, 2008 - 01:04 ET by NL207I wondered when you would finally crawl out from under your rock.
Narrow minded as usual. Has it ever occurred to you that Obama himself is behind this setup? Just doing a little housecleaning as he ascends, I would suspect. Seems all too convenient that he is involved then suddenly he's not. Then there is that "gap" in the wiretap records. What do you suppose was in that 3 week window that Obama and his allies don't want heard? I will be fascinated to see if Blagojevich rolls on anybody. Who do you thionk he will take with him? My money says he will take another of Obama's enemies down.
Last, Troll, doesn't this quote from Obama via Valerie Jarrett disturb you at all? "ready to rule on day 1" I heve NEVER heard a statement like that ever attributed to any prior President of the United States or his spokesperson. But El Supremo, he says this.

The MSM is now doing this type of thing without threats of death. They are doing it to protect a cause -- that of Socialist Democratic rule. Shameful. And very obvious.
