Mark Levin Calls for Sharpton to be Fired for 'Accusing Republicans of Genocide'

By Noel Sheppard | May 29, 2012 | 19:49

As NewsBusters reported Saturday, Al Sharpton on his radio show last week suggested Republicans want to commit genocide on African-Americans.

On Tuesday, conservative talk radio host Mark Levin called for Sharpton to be fired for "this vile statement" (audio follows courtesy Right Scoop with transcribed highlights and commentary):

MARK LEVIN: We conservatives in talk radio, we come under blistering attack from the Left, from phony reporters, even from executives in this business or in that business. And really when you think about what most of us say and how most of us behave and how and many of us have passion and so forth. It’s the way nature, it’s the way people operate and work normally. You know, you’re not a talking head. You’re a human being with emotions and moods and interests, and some things rile you and some things make you happy, some things get you excited. You know?…But there are lines. And the lines for conservative talkers are much tighter, much harsher than they are for the others.

Al Sharpton is a disgrace. And yet everybody’s afraid of him. He’s on the radio. NBC News hires him over at MSNBC, or MSLSD as I call it. He brings nothing to the table. Nothing. He can barely speak in complete sentences. No, it’s true. He’s a race-baiter in my humble opinion. You saw what he did in Florida, first one on the scene if not the early ones in the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman case. And that’s certainly not the first. And yet, he’s not considered that controversial.

But today I’m calling for the, for the firing of Al Sharpton. I don’t believe I’ve ever done this before…But enough is enough. It’s not a bad word here or a bad thought, bad comment here over a long record. No, this man is loathsome.

Levin then played the audio tape of Sharpton's comments Thursday:

AL SHARPTON: It seems like they [Republicans] act as though, some wiping out of people, some of the right-wing, is all right, it’s not all right to do to any innocent people. If you had war and people that’s one thing, but to wipe out innocent people just because of who they are like what was done in Hitler’s Germany or what was done to Native Americans is not justifiable.

After playing the audio and a little discussion of its contents, Levin continued:

LEVIN: So Al Sharpton should be fired. But he won’t be fired because this is all too common fare over there at MSLSD and apparently on his radio stations, or his radio program such as it is. And why is that? We know full well if Rush said something like this, which he never would, or Sean said something like this, which he never would, or if I said something like this, which I never would, or Neal Boortz said something like this, which he never would, and so forth, that there’d be hell to pay.

Why is it when we talk about cleaning up the airwaves we never talk about the Left, the despicable, poisonous, vile things that come out of the mouth of the Left?

Levin then mentioned other left-wing talkers such as Randi Rhodes, and alluded to Eliot Spitzer and Mike Malloy. He continued:

LEVIN: There’s never any focus on these people. Never any demands for their career heads. Never. They say damned-near anything they want, damned-near any way they want...This vile statement by Al Sharpton, which by how I interrupt it is accusing Republicans of genocide, is unacceptable to me under any circumstances, and I think for most of you, too…This guy’s gotten away, from the beginning of his phony civil rights career, to this day with comments like this, with virtually anything he wants to do or say.

As readers are aware, NewsBusters publisher and Media Research Center president Brent Bozell has recently sent letters to MSNBC and Comcast executives about Sharpton's deplorable behavior:

  • NB Publisher Bozell to MSNBC President: Al Sharpton Is More Evidence That Network's a 'Platform' for 'Hate Mongers'
  • NB Publisher Bozell to Comcast Chairman: Time to Clean House at MSNBC

"We must remember that it was on his radio show," Bozell said of this most recent incident. "On the other hand, given he's now on the record with this atrocity, how can he remain on MSNBC?"

"Pat Buchanan also said (wrote) things that were allegedly offensive, and made elsewhere (a book), and yet he was summarily fired by MSNBC," Bozell continued. "It is indisputable that Sharpton's comments were far, far more offensive that anything Buchanan wrote. So how can MSNBC not fire Sharpton?"

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

After Sharpton's disgraceful comments Thursday, and Levin's call today, will MSNBC, NBC, and Comcast recognize the serious problem they have on their hands?

Stay tuned.

Levin is right.

This was "just another day at the office" for MSNBC.

That's why he won't get fired.  It's what they do.

I would never have known what Sharpton was saying. It's amazing a man who speaks so poorly has a radio and t.v. show.

but he sure as hell ain't articulate! He's practically unintelligible.

Everyone's heard Al speak for years.  You don't really think that was a factor in giving him shows, do you?

It's "we the people"...

Submitted by MacWell on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 8:05pm.

Him and the rest of the Marxists are all the same. To hear one of them speak is to hear any or all of them speak. They all say the same things, over and over, and all you hear from the network heads is crickets chirping. If it were my money tied up in these TV and radio stations, I'd demand that they all be replaced with people who can generate ratings. It amazes me why the 3 big networks haven't offered Rush, or Sean, or Mark, thousands of millions to take a show on their networks. Hell, Rush would set new records with viewership alone and revenue? maybe then CBS, NBC, ABC could buy their stations back from the internet billions that bought them out.
After all is said and done here, nothing will be done to Sharpton, or he will be bought off to leave.

Mark Levin Is Completely Wrong....

Submitted by Samaritan01 on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 8:17pm.

...doesn't he realize that when "Big-Daddy" Al Sharpton accuses someone of genocide it actually means that they haven't donated to the National Action Network. In my opinion Al would allow Stalin or Mao to get away with genocide for a few well placed donations....

All In a Day's Work

Submitted by Tex Expatriate on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 8:50pm.

For Al Sharpton---a race hustling confidence man and bigot of small I.Q. and no education---and for MSNBC this was just another day at work. Now I listen to Levin and agree with him on practically everything, and I heard the clip of Sharpton's harangue, but Sharpton is so dumb and poorly spoken it is impossible to determine what he really meant. He strings words together that impress other ignorant jackasses, and very likely doesn't know what he means half the time.

Who watches MSMBC but ignorant jackasses, and who works there but Marxist charlatans?

This is all they have

Submitted by GregE on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 9:03pm.

This stuff is getting worse and worse. The Left making all kinds of stupid comments. Making up things. Portraying themselves as the opposite of what they are (i.e. Obama is not a big spender at all). The "mainstream" media calling them on nothing because they're all in this together. Etc, etc, etc...

They are not what America is, and they know it. Therefore they must do or say anything. Imagine today's Left in a time before "alternative" media sources where nothing negative they do or say would ever be seen.

Sharpton accusing Republicans of Genocide? Hold me back . . .

Submitted by Gary Hall on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 9:15pm.

I don't have time to document all of this right now - but indeed, it can all be documented - and completely from the left, itself.

And perhaps I take a bit of liberty. Sharpton is speaking of African Amercans - and I segue to  Africans; and humanity.

Clinton, a Democrat, turned his back on Rwanda - see, Bystanders to Genocide- Men sitting in offices.

Clinton, while promising Rwanda and the continent of Aftica, as well as the world at large, that "never again,' would the US - the world bodies - turn their back on the horrors of genocide turn their collective backs - was turning his back on the unfolding horrific civil war - with it's many genocides - which had broken out just next door in the DR Congo, and which would claim million of lives by the end of the Clinton era.  Also, see Genocide in the Congo.

Clinton turned his back on Blood Diamonds. Well, hardly;  in fact he put his, and Jackie Onassis' pal, Maurice Tempelsman, Chairman of Lazare Kaplan International Inc., in to be elected Chairman of the Corporate Council On Africa, in 1999. Plenty of articles out on that connection to Blood Diamonds.

Clinton turned his back on Sierra Leone and, on the Ivory Coast horrors. "Shirt sleeves" or "long sleeves," they asked before they chopped of the arms of their victims. This then spilled over to Liberia, where his successor, President Bush - a Republican - becomes the hero.

Clinton turned his back on Afghanistan, which in the mid 1990's fell to the genocidal prone Taliban, which also stands guilty of horrific crimes against humanity - against women - against children - against freedom. The result? Bin Laden took up shop and planned his future for us. How'd that work out? Clinton's successor, President Bush - a Republican - caught the bad end of that stick, and was called  to come to our defense and to the aid of the long suffering people of Afghanistan.

And then the great shame of the Clinton - Democrat's; the HIV/Aids pandemic which rose to biblical proportions during the Clinton era. Perhaps none described the shallow politics of this better than MSNBC'er and resident leftist, David Corn (formerly editor of "The Nation," who wrote in Too little, too late - How many times is Bill Clinton going to apologize to Africa? :  "The prevailing view was, these people should die quietly. A cynical guess at Clinton's motivations: AIDS in Africa, it doesn’t poll well."

Exit the Democratic President, Rev.  You listening to me?

Then President Bush, seeing another or the horrors and economic disasters he inherited, understood the need - the course of action that must be undertaken. He envisioned, planned with world humanitarian leaders and with Congressional leaders - understanding that sometimes leadership does not poll well - and then, in a 2003 STOTU address to the nation, challenged the country with his bold and massive plan - PEPFAR. It passed congress - was fully funded - and came in on budget and on time and is credited with saving over a million lives and preventing an untold millions of new infections. He passed out over 2 billion condoms in Africa alone.

This is where the "rubber meets the road."

While our national media, and Al Sharpton looked the other way, a lot of folks noticed. Here's humanitarian Bob Geldof:

"You'll think I'm off my trolley when I say this, but the Bush administration is the most radical - in a positive sense - in its approach to Africa since Kennedy," Geldof told the Guardian. [..]  "You can get the weirdest politicians on your side."

Former president Bill Clinton had not helped Africa much, despite his high-profile visits and apparent empathy with the downtrodden, the organiser of Live Aid, claimed. "Clinton was a good guy, but he did fuck all."

And at the end of the Bush term, here's a bit more reflection on how Republican's actually pan out in the world:

In October, 2008, at the President's Conference on International Development, as is often the case, praise for President Bush and his administration was in the air - for doing what? Doing the walk - not just the talk.

Sir Bob Geldof (Humanitarian activist - and Live 8 organizer):

".. a great adventure.. what America was born to do.. the sense that this is America at it's best..

President Ellen Sirleaf Johnson, of Liberia (the first freely elected woman in Africa's history):

"Under the leadership of President Bush [..] .. What a legacy, Mr. President..." "..America's commitment to democracy and development and to supporting low-income countries around the world has been a signature of foreign policy achievement for President Bush, Secretary Rice, the bipartisan support of the U.S. Congress, and the American people. .."

Blank you, Rev. Sharpton and MSNBC.

Imagine it...........

Submitted by GregE on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 9:25pm.

.........Al Sharpton, king of the race baiters, is called into the office of MSNBC brass to be fired? Right. They know who he is, they know his past and his mindset. If they ever want to take him off the air, it will have to be under good terms, not a firing. They know for a fact that they'd have to have an insanely rock solid case to ever fire him, because everyone knows who Al Sharpton is and what he's about, and they know it too. He'll bring up every possible race angle he can as the "reason" for his removal.

In other words, he's got a show for as long as he wants it.

Sharpten's

Submitted by grammajane on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 10:07pm.

whole life revolves around the racist whites. He has made millions spewing his BS for many years. This time around, it is going to be even worse because it is all the radicals libs can run with, to get BHO elected and he will keep running his mouth until election day and if BHO looses, it will be worse. Appreciate Levin stepping up but, mslsd will keep him because he can call Americans racist and get away with it. Conservative talk show hosts /hostesses have class unlike the fools on cable/radio like sharpten, schultz, madcow, tingles etc. They offer zero to society and most of society ignores them anyway

Sharpton cannot be fired because he is a member of the protected victims class but Levin could be prosecuted for a hate crime by suggesting it, such is life in obama's America.

Non, je ne regrette rien. "You aren't angry because I might be a racist, you're angry because you know I'm right".

Can anybody tell me how this network stays on the air? All I ever hear is how dismal their ratings are. I always thought, No ratings, no sponsors. No sponsor, no money. So who is the Sugar Daddy for MSNBC?
