NB Publisher Bozell to MSNBC President: Al Sharpton Is More Evidence That Network's a 'Platform' for 'Hate Mongers'
Editor's Note: What follows is a letter that NewsBusters publisher Brent Bozell sent to MSNBC President Phil Griffin early today.
Dear Mr. Griffin,
Last week, in my open letter to you I called for Ed Schultz’s termination. I also called for you to resign as President of MSNBC because you hired Ed Schultz. Today, I have yet another reason you should step down - one which some might argue is even more compelling than Schultz. His name is Al Sharpton.
I have already provided you with ample, documented evidence of Schultz’s repeated, over the top attacks against women, the elderly, tea party activists, and anyone else who happened to be in his crosshairs.
I have also made known the fact that your network is the mouthpiece for the George Soros funded Media Matters, a radical group whose mission is to slander everyone who disagrees with its fringe leftwing ideology. I also pointed out these assaults by MSNBC have nothing to do with what Rush Limbaugh said about Sandra Fluke, and everything to do with censoring prominent voices on the right. Instead of reporting on the woeful state of our economy and the catastrophic debt crisis, MSNBC goes after Limbaugh with entirely unmerited and phony moral righteousness.
The Media Research Center repeatedly discussed, promoted, and circulated these letters in a variety of very public venues last week.
As the President of MSNBC, you are personally responsible for hiring and promoting Ed Schultz.
You have had every opportunity to respond and take responsibility for this situation. Yet, neither you, nor Ed Schultz, nor the Chairman and CEO of Comcast have responded.
Therefore, I now offer you (and everyone reading this) another reason to take responsibility - Al Sharpton.
Al Sharpton - a man who made a name for himself by orchestrating the Tawana Brawley hoax that destroyed innocent lives and also incited race riots that led to the death of an innocent child man.
In addition, some of his greatest hits include:
- Al Sharpton spewing the n-word over and over and over (Listen here)
- Al Sharpton discussing "Chinamen," Koreans, and watermelons (Listen here)
- Al Sharpton denigrating homosexuals-his "Greek homo" routine(Listen here)
- Al Sharpton's "apology" for inflaming a Harlem racial situation by going on about a "white interloper". That incident, by the way, resulted in a death (Listen here)
- Al Sharpton falsely accusing Rush Limbaugh of racism
You fired Pat Buchanan because you didn’t think his book “should be a part of the national dialogue, much less the dialogue on MSNBC.”But you retain Sharpton.
By giving a platform to Al Sharpton on the one hand, and by promoting his campaign to suppress free speech on the other, you're engaging in mind-boggling hypocrisy—hypocrisy unbecoming of a “news” network executive.
While your networkcontinues to attack Limbaugh, you continue to employ Al Sharpton and Ed Schultz. Take responsibility and clean house. If you don’t, we will continue to further expose MSNBC for what it is – a platform for racist, misogynistic, homophobic hate mongers. And we will continue to ratchet up public pressure for your resignation.
I have already contacted Brian L. Roberts, Chairman and CEO of Comcast (your boss and MSNBC’s parent company). On March 14, we sent him a letter calling on him to demand Schultz’s termination. As I noted in my letter, we intend to take this message directly to the shareholders of Comcast and its board of directors.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Which is what I believe will happen when we keep trying to draw the attention of the committed drones to the facts. They won't ever get it.
But I sure do love drawing the attention of those with functioning synapses to the issue because someone, somewhere may finally make life uncomfortable enough for the slugs like the MSNBC prez that he and his sort will have to crater anyway - no effort required on their part. Just keep doing what they're doing.

The chances of the lead propaganda network showing any intergrety is nonexistant.
The chances of a far left liberal in command of that agency is a pipe dream.
The chances of finding honest reporting on the Hate network would be impossible.
Review their talking heads lineup, can you find even one honest reporter of facts?
Can you find one that has shown a degree of honesty in their efforts?
Can you find one that has shown even a modicum of integrety?
Can you find one that has not produced bile on anything that did not meet the liberal agenda?
I am unsure if the rot of this network started at the top or at the bottom.
The question would be mote if they had any real talent but because of the lack of talent and their obvious bias they have no real credibility except with the very far left and the Kool-aid drinkers.

When the share holders see their investment tanking, then Comcast will take action. The powers that be at Comcast knew what kind of partisan hacks worked at MSNBC when they bought it . Anyone who is not a democrat loving racist, lying crook should have left Comcast a long time ago. What decent person wants to be affiliated in any way, either as a shareholder or subscriber of Comcast, with such dispicable people?

I wish you well in your quest. Or better said-lots of luck. Al is a poverty pimp and should be in jail for a number of things-back taxes for starters. Griffin and his crowd think they are on the high road-no viewers- the viewers just don't understand what this channel is trying to do. They are going to save us from the evil conservatives. The Comcast crowd doesn't care either-Roberts is a big nobama supporter and the family owns most of the stock. There just have to be people and networks like this, "just because".

Some dots we can connect about MSNBC's compulsive pro-Obama, anti-republican programming:
1. GE still owns a 49 percent share of NBC. Their influence on the network is still huge.
2. Non-GE coal fired power plants are essentially the energy plants being shut down by the Obama administration (over 100 so far)
3. MSNBC is hysterically supporting Obama and his policies.
Is GE and NBC getting a free ride from the Obama adminstration because of their support of Obama's radical policies and therefore specifically hire rabid anti-Republican hosts as a payback?

If the left wants to try to get Rush thrown off the air by boycotting 100 of his sponsors, then every Conservative should take up the battle and cancel their Comcast products. Don't use Comcast products and ask your friends and family to do the same.

But the value of Brent's efforts is that it puts Griffin's name out there as responsible for the political trash and war on conservatives we see every day on MSNBC. It's relentless. Lots of people will see Griffin being called out and held responsible, others will pick up on it, including shareholders. That's a good thing.
