Rush Limbaugh: MSNBC's Response Different If Halperin Defamed George W. Bush

By Noel Sheppard | June 30, 2011 | 17:29

As NewsBusters reported Thursday, MSNBC has put Mark Halperin on indefinite suspension for making an intemperate remark about President Obama on "Morning Joe."

Just a few hours later, conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh told his audience the network's response would have been much different if Halperin had said this about George W. Bush when he was president (video follows with transcript and commentary):

RUSH LIMBAUGH: Now, let me ask you a question: If Mark Halperin had said this about say George W. Bush, would they be falling all over themselves to apologize? Nope. He would be, my guess is, “New ground had been broken. Finally, finally,” they would say, “a reporter has had the courage and the guts to tell the nation just exactly the kind of President we have. A gutsy move. It might have been over the line. It might have been a little bit risky. And it might be something he would never do again, but by golly, by gosh, the courage.”

That’s how they would play it had Mark Halperin said it about George W. Bush.

Taking this a step further, since Halperin apparently believed what he said was going to be edited out - he specifically asked if MSNBC was on a seven second delay - it's quite likely the technician that failed to bleep his comment about Bush would have been the fall guy - assuming there was one at all.

But because MSNBC is the leading television propaganda outlet for this White House and the Democrat Party, that certainly wouldn't be enough in this instance.

Something else to consider is it's unlikely the minor vulgarity bothered the network.

As Breitbart reported a few hours ago, MSNBC allowed an audible f-bomb on "The Last Word" during prime time Wednesday evening. Nobody involved in that show has been suspended including the host.

As Limbaugh pointed out there likely wouldn't have been this response if Obama was Republican, one must conclude the network just didn't like such a thing being said about a president it so faithfully supports.

No, MSNBC was making it quite clear that until Election Day has passed, MSNBC personalities and contributors better be very careful what they say about the current White House resident.

To complete the training, the next MSNBCer to say something really offensive about a Republican presidential candidate should be given a well-publicized promotion with a raise and a bonus.

Of course, with all the MSNBCers doing that, it might be difficult to discern who the next one is.

Rush knocked it out of the park on that one. if he(Halperin) had referred to Bush with that colorful metaphor then those MSNBC buffoons would've laughed about it over drinks while patting themselves on the back for their ingenuity. since it's B.O. well then the rules change! the dignity of the office must be observed. the POTUS must be afforded the respect that position demands! oh puleeez.

The good news that is a precedent has been set.

Submitted by needle on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 10:23pm.

In a couple of years we will have -- at least, we had better have -- a Republican President. Then, when the thoroughly biased media -- What was that word, Mark? -- are up to their routine slanderous name calling, their usual double standards may be so incandescent that even they might be unable to deny it.

And if someone from the Bush White House had done similar, not only would nothing have happened to Halperin, but every show on MSNBC tonight would be about Bush's thin skin and dictatorial mentality, and the sacredness of allowing "journalists" to speak their minds without retaliation.

Jer is just ashamed that

Submitted by djwolf12 on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 8:51pm.

his ass just got handed to him. When a lib (Halpern) goes off the reservation and finally tells the truth for once, they just can't handle it. They need a scapegoat so they attack someone who didn't say the comment, but has a humourous observation about HALPERN'S, NOT LIMBAUGH, H-A-L-P-E-R-N'S COMMENT.
Just like the lyrics go in the song Henry the 8th by Herman's Hermits....
2nd verse, same as the first. Halpern said it, so attack Limbaugh for it. Jer, no offense, but you need to come up with something original. It is still like blaming Bush for everything right now. Even Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz is proudly taking ownership of this economy. It is time to get your head out of the sand.

[she should leave the low road to the folks at weasel zippers], but Ed should not just be suspended but instead sidelined--permanently. His comments were absolutely indefensible. This blowhard is neither an asset to progressivism or liberalism nor to the network which currently employs him. And the viewing public would be far better served by his absence.

Mr. Halperin simply spoke words similar to those

Submitted by Cape Conservative on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 10:02pm.

being uttered in homes all across the country after yesterday's press conference.

What I found odd was Mika's laughter that was captured after Mark's statement during the supposed 7-second delay - then when they learned it hadn't been delayed, she was a bit more sober.

Perhaps what we have actually witnessed was an honest exhibition of what just might be a cooling off of the hot love affair between the liberal media and the one who can speak no wrong...57 states...corpse man...lowest taxes ever (that was a good one!)...daughter's age...and I guess what ticked me off the most was his dressing down of the Republicans for not getting their 'homework' done in time.

IF EVER THERE IS SOMEONE WHO CAN ANSWER TO THAT CHARGE IT IS NANCY PELOSI, HARRY REID AND THE PRESIDENT HIMSELF!!!! They not only did not complete their 'homework' in time, they NEVER turned it in! Hence the budgetary situation we are in at the moment. For the first time in many decades (not sure when it occurred last, some time in the 30s or 40s, I think) there was NO 2011 budget presented by the House led by NANCY PELOSI. As president, he did NOT insist that she prepare one!!!! And she now says she should be included in the bi-partisan budget talks...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It is amazing to realize that someone so focused on demonizing the 'enemy' can't understand that what he is charging them with is EXACTLY what he and his congressional leaders are guilty of!

And his brisk brush-off of Senator McConnell's offer to meet today reinforces our opinion that his statement issued during the press conference that he was ready to meet with and talk with Republicans was nothing more than FLUFF! And he wonders why noone believes anything he says??????????????
