Jeri Thompson Slams Alan Colmes Over Media Hyping Palin Wardrobe Expenses

Photo of Ken Shepherd.

The wife of former GOP presidential aspirant Fred Thompson took on Alan Colmes on the October 23 broadcast. Jeri Thompson, who heads up Team Sarah, a campaign effort to get out the vote for the McCain/Palin ticket, went toe-to-toe with the liberal co-host of "Hannity & Colmes" on the matter of the media's hyping the non-scandal of the RNC's wardrobe expenses for the Alaska governor.

Mrs. Thompson has personal experience with the viciousness of the liberal media against conservative Republican women, as NewsBusters coverage about the media dismissing her as a "trophy wife" can attest.

Last night was the first

Last night was the first time I heard Jeri speak. I've seen pix of her with Fred but that was it. In the teasers, they said she would be on and I thought ...Please, oh please be coherent.

Holy crap!!! Now I see what Fred likes about her (well, other than she isn't bad to look at, either). I would not want to piss her off.

Anytime Ratman gets verbally pummled it's a good thing.

"All generalizations are false, including this one.” Mark Twain

Gee, Alan

Most liberal politicians, Obama included, claim to work for poor families; why don't we see them giving up their mansions in their exclusive neighborhoods, and going to live next to those poor people?

Alan gets b$#ch-slapped

Alan gets b$#ch-slapped again!  LOL!

I love it...Alan's first line of defense when questioned by a conservative is always to deflect it back to "your guy" or "you guys" and Jeri just did it to him!

Karma's a b$#ch, huh, Alan?

And notice how he said well, we're talking about Palin.

Mentioning ACORN is a "distraction" but Sarah Palin's wardrobe isn't.

OK, I've got that now.

Controlling Colmes

Newt is one of the few who will not put up with him. He interrupts Colmes, states the facts, and gets the truth across.

The last thing I expected last night from Jeri was the same. She truly dominated the interview leaving Colmes speechless and sitting him in his chair on every point. No doubt the 'conversation' will be buried by the news media, we can only hope she is invited back soon.

I loved this video!  Go Jeri!  Finally, someone stand up and fight againist this left wing liberal illuminati MSM that only wants to talk about Palin's wardrobe and McCain smoking in his POW video!  Let's get around to some real issues Mr Colmes!

Obama's lobster, caviar,

Obama's lobster, caviar, and champagne repast at the Waldorf Astoria - NOT REPORTED!

McNotObama '08

Again, that was reported,

Again, that was reported, then retracted as FALSE.

Amazing, how anything

Amazing, how anything negative about the Obamas goes UNREPORTED on the MSM but is investigated and THEN reported as FALSE, but all things NEGATIVE against McCain/Palin are REPORTED by the MSM, but when proven to be false (the cries of "kill him!" at a rally) it goes UNREPORTED.

And you don't run around here reporting that it was debunked.

McNotObama '08

You're right of course,

You're right of course, Chris.

Actually I was the one who pointed out to bal and someone else in that thread that the lobster/caviar story was false.  I also commented that the NY Post, which had printed the story on its gossip page, not only retracted the story immediately, but did it in the top headline in the same place where they had run the original.

That would be unlike the WaPo and others, who blare the erroneous headline on page one and then bury the correction (if they even bother with one) on A17.

mb,Like you, when I

mb,

Like you, when I can, I try to stay focused on the main point of this site - the disparity between the way the media covers Republicans and Democrats. I fail on many occasions, but I try not to get caught up in the arguing the specifics of the story. In this case, it doesn't matter so much that the story was false, but in the way the media handled it. They report every negative juicy tidbit about McCain/Palin - especially Palin, but instead of reporting the negative stories against Obama, they spend their time trying to prove that they're false.

McNotObama '08

Bal and other liberals on

Bal and other liberals on this site will never acknowledge the bias in the press. They will continue to regurgitate the democrat talking points in the face of any and all facts presented. The MSM is losing readership and viewers as more people are exposed to the truth by sites such as NBs, but some people will always be willfully deceived.

This country isn't only

This country isn't only divided along the lines of political philosophy, race, etc, but along the (directly connected) line between where they choose to get their news and information.

McNotObama '08

How can it be that

How can it be that multi-millionaire democrats have more in common with working class Americans than working class republicans? I must have missed something somewhere along the way.

Hi Marpel, Was it a joke,

Hi Marpel,

Was it a joke, or was it purported to be true? I know The Post retracted the story. I don't know the specifics, but I do know that, apparently everything negative about Obama is claimed by the Democrats and the Media (same thing, really) as "having been proved false".

If it's real, they'll tell us it's not...we can't win for losing, right? Have a great weekend!

you know goldbar

1) I distinctly remember when Edwards was running the lefties said "everyone does that in the public eye."

2) Palin does not go around whipping up frenzies among the working poor by decrying the neocons and talking about two Americas. She promotes success and accomplishment.

3) The RNC purchased clothing that can be worn again - and they decided to give the wardrobe to charity before the press even did this. Kinda hard to donate a haircut.

4)  Clothing and makeup are expensive, especially since liberals would call her white trash if she looked poor. Haircuts don't need to be that expensive at all.

Change is what you're left with when you've spent all your dollars.

Congratulations, goldbar !

At least in these two instances, you show good taste in fashion.

Perspective. Palin isn't

Perspective. Palin isn't running around telling people there are 2 Americas, one of which is living in the street while one meal away from starvation all because of evil rich people. Other than his hypocrisy and his exploitation of the poor, I couldn't care less how much he spends on a hair cut. What he spends his money on is his business, though I do hope he is spending some of it on his love child.

Obama's Economic plan: more taxes, more spending, more regulation. Prosperity here we come.

goldbar, do you have any

goldbar, do you have any idea how much Obama's tribute to himself at Invesco Field cost?

How about his election night grandstanding in the park in Chicago???

He can't celebrate inside with his supporters like evry other President-elect has done?

No, the man who always says "It's not about me, it's about you!" proves on a regular basis that it is always about him.

Maybe if the RNC would have

Maybe if the RNC would have spent the $150,000 on ads instead of Palin's wardrobe, McCain wouldn't be losing his lead in the red states he's supposed to be easily carrying.

Brilliant! You immediately

Brilliant! You must immediately leave here and contact the McCain campaign with your suggestion.

How many ads do you think

How many ads do you think $150,000 will buy?

No arena or hotel ballroom

No arena or hotel ballroom can contain Obama's magnifigence - do you want his supporters to be blinded by his glory? It must be given all the the outdoors in which to spread! Can you imagine what his inauguration is going to look like? And I'm positive we won't have any Nancy Reagan-like stories on the gauche display of opulence.

McNotObama '08

If you had really wanted

If you had really wanted your candidate to win, maybe you should have backed off the computer and done some campaigning for him. Democracy begins with you.

And the emboldenment begins.

And the emboldenment begins.

Hmmm...

Edwards... super-wealthy multi-millionaire hypocritical ambulance chaser claiming to be one of, and care about, the poor and the divide of "two Americas."

Sarah Palin... someone else bought the clothes, she isn't wealthy, she has real accomplishments that are not being reported, she is more qualified than the top of the opposing ticket, so the MSM has a fetish to beat her to a pulp because SHE IS a successful middle-income American running for the second highest office in the country.

gbar.. How about Clinton haircut at LAX?

LAX

It may have been the most expensive haircut in history.

Two
of Los Angeles International Airport's four runways were shut down for
nearly an hour on Tuesday, some incoming flights were delayed and Air
Force One sat on the tarmac with engines running -- all so that
President Clinton's Beverly Hills hairstylist, Chistophe, could come
aboard and give Mr. Clinton a high-price trim before he took off for
Washington.

Questions about Mr. Clinton's runway razor cut
dominated the White House news briefing today, with the communications
director, George Stephanopoulos, scrambling to explain why the populist
President tied up one of the country's busiest airports to have his
hair trimmed. Everybody Does It

what nonsense from Colmes

Palin is a hypocrit for promoting middle class values? And what, Obama/Biden don't? I wonder if everyone in Scranton can afford plastic surgery. I wonder if everyone in Obama's family can afford a designer suit from Versace - yet he's the one who talks about sharing the wealth.

A month ago she was trailer trash and now she's a diva. Unbelievable.

Change is what you're left with when you've spent all your dollars.

Be still my heart.

Too bad Fred saw her first. :/

Looks like the media have more to worry about than just Sarah. Can you imagine the team these two could make for some time to come?

Thanks for the article. I'm feeling better already.

"This liberal would be all about socialize -- uh, uh, would be about basically taking over and the government running all of your companies."-Maxine Waters 2008

Ah yes, family matters first and foremost...

Well, to loosely quote Maha Rushie from yesterday, if family is so important to Obama, then a single $20.00 bill sent to his half brother in Nairobi would just about double the man's annual income.

But no... leave him in his squalor while the great and mighty O leaps for the brass ring.

What a pig.

"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God."  - Paul (Rom. 13:1)

Wow, you go Jeri!I love

Wow, you go Jeri!

I love how this intelligent woman put that walking talking point, Alan Colmes in his place.   The next time Colmes has an original thought it will be the first time.  She did great when, like many liberals, he tried to change the subject when he realized he was losing the battle.  She would not let him get away with it, reminding him of what his original question was in the first place.  She's hot, too.

You know this comparison of Edwards haircut to Palin's wardrobe is interesting.  As a matter of fact, I do think a $400 haircut for a man is more absurd than a woman, who is in the public eye constantly for a couple of months, spending $150K on clothes.  The woman has to look professional.  She would be ridiculed by the media if she showed up in anything but designer clothing.  (I can hear them calling her a hick or backwards.)  Because she's a woman, her clothing and the designer is definitely going to be noted by the media.  If she dresses down too much, she's a dowdy small-town hick.  If she overdoes it, she's wreckless or an elitist.  If she wears the same outfit more than once, it will be noted in the media.  Designer clothing for women is extremely expensive.   Spending $150K might be somewhat extravagant, but I do not think it is as outrageous as what is being stated and, in the end, it's going to charity.  Heck, a pair of designer shoes can run $600-$700 easy.  Unlike a guy, who can get away with wearing the same pair of shoes, she probably needs a dozen or more pairs to go with each outfit.  That's $5K just on shoes.  I imagine a designer outfit can easily go for a few thousand bucks or more. She might need thirty or forty different outfits. Add purses, accessories, whatever, and it adds up.

Contrast this with a man's $400 haircut.  What the heck can a barber/stylist do to a man's hair that makes it worth $400?  This is outrageous to me.  Tell me that a $400 haircut is going to look any better than a $75 haircut on a guy; I'm not buying it.  A man spending $400 on a haircut truly is being an elitist.

The bottom line to me is that a woman spending a lot of money on clothes might appreciate nice things and want to look as good as possible in front of the cameras and the public.  A man spending $400 on a haircut, however, is doing so merely because he can; he's not going to look any better than anyone else when all is said and done.  Plus, it is far more unseemly when a man, even one in the public eye, is so taken with his appearance as to spend $400 on a haircut. Also, Democrats are supposed to be the party of the people; they are supposed to abhor this kind of consumption, aren't they? Republicans do not make that claim; they're for free enterprise and freedom to consume. It is interesting how the left calls Republicans hypocrites if they do no live by some pseudo-religious code, but Dems can pretend to care about poor people and drive around in limousines, swilling $500/bottle bubbly and live in posh estates, and this is not viewed as hypocritical.

Finally, Obama is spending $2M on an election night party in Chicago.  Is that considered a waste?  How many starving children could be fed with $2M?

And the real story is -

And the real story is - they actually spent more like $50k. Staffers went out and bought her a ton of stuff. Naturally a bunch of it doesn't fit, or isn't her style. So that stuff is being returned.

Another $50k worth is still tagged and unworn. It will be returned if she does not wear it.

So, she is actually wearing "only" $50k worth of stuff. That's still a lot to spend in one sitting, but I daresay that many high-level professional women have wardrobes far exceeding that amount. For someone who has been making almost daily appearances for 7 weeks, I hardly think that is unreasonable.

Regardless, these clothes do not belong to Palin. They are to be auctioned after the election.

"Fool me once - shame on you... fool me twice - shame on me." ~ my Father

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

It's a nonissue.  It is

It's a nonissue.  It is not that outrageous for a woman to spend that much on designer clothing in a very short time, with no chance to shop around.  They need to find stuff that looks good on her without making her look silly, and they needed to do it quickly.

The bottom line is that the McCain campaign is not exactly swimming in cash.  If they spent $50K or $150K on Palin's clothing, I'm sure it is because they felt it was necessary to do so under the circumstances.

Smarty

I believe the clothing was paid for by the RNC, not the campaign committee. And didn't I read that the clothing was purchased for her whole family, not just for her, as they appear with her just about everywhere.

Isn't Alan a pod------

I've commented on this before. Alan Colmes is a very, very lucky man. He's attached himself to Sean Hannity professionally and is the perfect example of an undeserving lefty, liberal being allowed access to mainstream society. He attacks right minded conservatives without any thought to the damage being done by his democrat party. The guy asks questions that are entirely too long and convoluted. He snaps out his long winded query and demands an answer and before he even gets an answer is accusing questioned of evading the answer. Colmes is the worst interviewer on TV. What Jeri Thompson did to him last night was long overdue, the man should be handed his tuccas on a nightly basis.

Roscoe, he is one big

Roscoe, he is one big talking point. As I posted above, this guy has never had an original thought. Granted, Sean Hannity can overdo the talking points as well, but he at least is able to come up with his own analysis on a regular basis, too. Colmes could not get along without the Democrat's playbook; he'd be lost.

Check out the basements of the dems------

I do believe if one was to check in the basements of prominent democrats you'd find empty seed pods. It has to be the only explanation for the total devotion to their wacked-out thinking and mechanical spewing of talking points.
Just remember this, Gabby Johnson, that great American frontiersman, recommends you vote McCain/Palin. ROERING!!!

Hypocrisy at its best

I'm tired of the criticsm of Sarah Palin"s wardrobe. I have been a great admirer of women since I was in my mother's arms. Women will spend all they can afford to on clothes and shoes. I'm all for it. There is no better site to behold than a well dressed woman with class. Sarah is stunning and a slap in the face to Colmes and others who called her a pig. To all the women out there - look your best, your husbands will appreciate it.
