Maybe there's a reason why the media have either denigrated or completely ignored the Sept. 12 march in Washington, D.C. - they were highly critical of their job performance as well.
Aside from protesters taking on CNN reporter Lisa Desjardins, as NewsBusters Matt Sheffield pointed out, there were also other pockets of backlash against media evident at the march, which were captured on video (pardon my shoddy camera work).
The march that preceded the rally in front of the U.S. Capitol took place on Pennsylvania Avenue, from Freedom Plaza to the West Lawn of the Capitol went directly in front of the Newseum, a building erected that supposedly honors those deemed the most important practitioners of the First Amendment - the news media. Marchers chanted, "Shame on the press," as they passed the colossal 250,000-square-foot building dedicated to the press situated between the White House and the U.S. Capitol on Pennsylvania Avenue. (0:17)
They also chanted the same words as they passed a motorcoach painted with CNN logos, which was set up in front of a set near the after-march rally.
And Desjardins wasn't the only CNN reporter to feel the wrath of the anti-mainstream media outrage. CNN Deputy Political Director Paul Steinhauser also got his share of calls by the participants, which a lot of didn't make it to air on CNN. (0:42)
"You're supposed to use freedom of the press to protect us," one participant yelled at Steinhauser, expressing his frustration with CNN's decision to down play the ACORN scandal covered by Fox News and the circumstances surrounding the background of President Barack Obama's green jobs czar, Van Jones. "So where have you guys been?" (0:56)
Steinhauser also faced chants of "Glenn Beck," "Tell the truth," and a term conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh employs - "State-run media." (1:21)

September 14, 2009 - 01:01 ET by ChattychitoWill change until will have some muscle and we can't wait for 2010 elections, we need every branch of the Military and their commanders, the FBI, The CIA, Every Police from every State, Sheriffs and highway Patrol, Every Fire dept, Homeland security teams, Evey teamster member, every American Steel workers member, every union worker there be, every red blooded American no matter what their color or religion, every Militia group, and every boy scout and girl scout to march on Washington the day after they cram through HR3200. to forcefully take our government back and put Obama on a plane for Kenya or Indonesia.
look what he has done already by starting the tariff war with China. it is a move to get our attention off his Socialistic agenda and have us worried about our jobs and industries,

My fear...
September 14, 2009 - 02:44 ET by AgentAmerican...is this is a series of events leading to a terrible incident. It will involve the leftist cockroaches perpertrating a "Reichstag Fire" incident and blame it on Neo-Nazis or some "right wing group" in order to marginalize conservatives. Any attempt to blame Obama or his czars will be treated like the "birthers". The bastards will eventually do something ultimately stupid.
But that incident (which I pray never happens) will ultimately lead to a full-scale revolt in every city...which I believe is inevitable.
Awake the sleeping giant...and that giant is WE THE PEOPLE!

September 14, 2009 - 04:45 ET by danybhoyIf the American people can put some of the MSM out of buisiness, like the NYSlimes, or other "major" media players, I will party so hard that I may become an alcoholic. I think a reasonable target is too kill the nightly news on the 3 networks. The sooner they go away, the better. Plus, having it happen because the free market rejects them to the point they are not viable should be a goal.

The MSM has lost all relevance
September 14, 2009 - 01:07 ET by richb313The MSM has lost all relevance as well as credibility. Not only do they not give us factual accounts of what they cover by selective editing of facts and soundbites but they have comppletely lost all relevance by not covering at all subjects that are of importance to all Americans. Yes shame on the press you have let the American People down. The only thing that passes fo real news these days is on Fox News and it should not be that way.
We can no longer trust what we see and hear. Fox is doing well because of those that still watch the news more and more are turning to Fox. I watch Fox but I wish I could have more outlets of news to turn to. Since what remains of the MSM has become so one sided, inept, and totally corrupt in thier presentation of it that we are left with only one choice. One choice is never any good.

Juan Williams: So Wrong. So Very, Very Wrong.
September 14, 2009 - 01:32 ET by BondPlainBondExcuse, please, the length of this post, but I'm still having to pick my jaw up from the floor each time Juan's was-visiting-at-the-White-House-last-week spin enters my mind.
Incredibly misinformed, underinformed, and delusional media, as exampled through the words of Juan Williams. Bill Krystal lays out the mindset of the protesers precisely. Item by item. Right down the list. However, Juan Williams refuses to give the American people, at least those opposed to Obama's socialist plans and policies, any credit for having an intelligence and comprehension for the facts which is far greater than his!
Juan Williams, in this panel discussion, IS the media.
From 'Fox News Sunday' this morning:
And, Mr Hume goes on to discuss how the protesters are concerned about the cost, the addition to the deficit, the intrusion of the government into the insurance industry, how it's not far-fetched to see the government intrusion will push people into a single-payer system, the lack of details, etc. Summing up with; They don't like the details they HAVE heard!
Judas Priest, Juan! Stay away from the White House! It's affecting you in ways you don't want. You're losing any and all credibility with me, Juan, and you were one of the liberals I was able to listen to without having to be locked in a skeptical wince.
I miss Brit Hume
September 14, 2009 - 03:17 ET by richb313I miss Brit Hume. Oh I know he shows up from time to time but I miss his steady hand at the helm. As he would often school his reporters being fair is not an attitude it is a skill and I am afraid that skill is being lost. Mr Hume was the one who was the voice of sanity that would bring clarity in the middle. Juan is suffering a case of infactuation and Brit would have called him on it.
I am a conservative and a registered Republican but there is always something to be learned by listening to and understanding both sides of an argument. Today Fox news is more popular than ever but they are losing credibility with democrats. I think that the way Brit ran the news room made for better coverage. I have seen some decline in the quality of coverage since his partial retirement.
I can only hope that the quality and fairness of the coverage moves back up to the level it was when Brit was in charge. Fox has not slipped that much but more editorial content has been slipping into the News portions of thier program since Brit has left.
Respectfully I would disagree that FNC...
September 14, 2009 - 09:10 ET by Iowa Boy...is losing credibility with Democrats. I believe the numbers bear this out. FNC already had conservatives. However, their most recent rise in ratings and the dramatic drop at CNN and broadcast networks shows me more liberal viewers are coming on board as well. Hell, BOR beats Katie Couric in total viewers and CBS is in millions more homes than FNC.

As a human being I really
September 14, 2009 - 03:22 ET by Jack BauerAs a human being I really like Juan Willimas. He seems a very nice man, and a good guy to share a beer or two.
BUT --- on that panel there's something wrong with his brain. Hulme or Krystal will state some clear facts to refute his wishful thinking, it'll cut to Juan who looks like he just stepped on a dog turd in bare feet.
It's like his brain just can't compute the facts -- or even a competing opinion.
It's very weird.

being a local and fed up
September 14, 2009 - 06:29 ET by theduck6I went down for the march. I did NOT go to Freedom Plaza for the start because there was a sea of humanity at the top of the Metro exit that was already sweeping down Penn. Ave. A chant of "READ THAT WALL...READ THAT WALL!" went up at the Newseum. The First Amendment is inscribed in bold huge letters on the front of the building. It was only the second time I've done anything like that. The other was the last Tea Party in the rain. By our nature conservatives are not given to these types of display but, like most of the multitude, I can be silent no more.

September 14, 2009 - 12:02 ET by Airforce_5_Othey don't see angry protseters against a tax increase or the reform of Healthcare the the dems want.
