Taxpayer tea party activists got their chance earlier to today to speak against CNN during a live television discussion between CNN reporter Lisa Desjardins and anchor Fredricka Whitfield.
With chants of "tell the truth," and "Glenn Beck," protesters made known their great displeasure with the former #1 cable network. The Beck taunt, of course, is a reference to the former CNN host turned FNC star.
Unlike her former colleague Susan Roesgen who insulted tea party protesters and was confronted on her bias by NewsBusters member "namron", Desjardins didn't dismiss the protesters but instead asked them what they thought of congressman Joe Wilson, famous for his recent outburst that President Obama was lying about his health plan covering illegal immigrants.
Estimates for crowd sizes are starting to come in. We're talking at least a million people, folks.

CNN smear FAIL
September 12, 2009 - 15:13 ET by candanceI love the anchor warning her viewers how the protestors will yell about healthcare and government spending when the segment was supposed to be about Joe Wilson. They wanted desperately to link Wilson with the protest even though those two stories are unrelated. Talk about offering distractions.
Wilson apologized. It's time for liberals to moveon.org.

September 12, 2009 - 15:32 ET by averageschmoeThey tape a segment trying to make a Republican look bad at the tea party.
That would be like going to a Moveon.org rally and reporting live about John Edwards cheating on his wife and fathering another women's baby. Then asking them all what they think. Yea, like that would ever happen.

Newsbusters all over this story. Copy, print, share, spread the word. I am stunned and so so very proud today. 12,000 cities have tea parties today. The media can ignore it, they can label folks radicals and nutjobs but they can't stop us. I have family members in Iraq. We are going to send them photos and let them know their service has value, that there are people at home that are worth fighting for and appreciate their efforts. Spread the word. And thank you again and again NEWSBUSTERS.

September 12, 2009 - 15:37 ET by BKeyserI've been trying to find some airials of the Mall but so far without any luck. I was hoping to save some photos for future reference regarding the turnout, since we all know the effort to downplay the event is, and has been, underway. I did find one website, called EarthCam that has live webcams, including one for the Mall. I even joined the stupid site (free registration) just to get to the specific camera. Here's a screencap from the website. The time and date are on the screen. Anyone venture an explanation for this?

Another one, of just in front of the Capitol. That alone, if it was a concert in that open area, would be approx 10-15 thousand, no? Now, pan back 1/2 a mile.... AND, keep in mind, more definitely appear scattered beyond this.
1/4 - 1/2 million is even a good guestimate. No, the AP needs to stop with "thousands" in their headline. That basically means, one big group in one open area in front of something. This ain't that, at all.
I think it is impressive
September 12, 2009 - 18:16 ET by katainkentI don't know if its 2 million but I sure as heck is isn't "thousands".
They are under-reporting the numbers. To do otherwise would be against their interests.
the liberaldemocrat.com is reporting between 1.5-2 mill. So is the dailymail. No idea where they are getting their numbers. ABC supposedly had an estimate of 2 million but all I see there is a reprint of the AP story that said 'thousands' and has since been updated to 'tens of thousands'.

...funny how our msm doesn't want to utter the word 'million'...unless it is for a leftist march, when there really wasn't.
Bassakwards as usual.

Astroturf?
September 12, 2009 - 18:42 ET by pbthinkerIs it possible that 2 million people showed up? As Sarah Palin would say, "You betcha." There were some people that couldn't make it and they were out in other areas. I ran across a lone woman, I'm guessing in her late 60's, carrying a sign that said, "Please save America from the Pirates in Washington D.C." She told me that yesterday she had stood up the street for 4 hours.
This woman is concerned, she's standing alone on a street corner, and Nancy Pelosi thinks she's astroturf. I have no clue who this woman voted for but I can guess who she won't be voting for, next time around.
Election 2008-God's way of showing us that elections count.
I thought Liz _____ did a gutsy lil job
September 12, 2009 - 18:46 ET by DaMavThe anchor was obviously snooting down her nose at the crowd, but the reporter on the ground did fine. Especially when she asked the crowd about America's Congressman.
I only caught her first name and rarely watch TV so I'm not endorsing her for anything but I thought in this little segment she was great.

400,000 Man March
September 12, 2009 - 18:57 ET by Sergeant ROCKI wonder if that's what they thought about the Nation of Islam march??
"I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them."

Million MOB March
September 12, 2009 - 19:27 ET by Dan DiegoMillion MOB March
There could be 10 million people there...
September 12, 2009 - 19:40 ET by averageschmoeAnd there would still be "zero" coverage on CBS, ABC and NBC evening news.
Katie Couric on Monday night if she has anything at all it will be a 10 second spot with "mob" "conservative" and "angry" in her opening line. Then she will have a 5 minute segment on Obama's speech and 5 minutes on whether or not Joe Wilson should apologize again in front of congress. If I were Wilson I would tell congress that I will gladly apologize as long a Nancy Pelosi is up there apologizing to the CIA for lying about them. That would shut em up.

Right you are...in all aspects too.
One difference though, Pelosi lied, Wilson didn't.
One apology from him was one too much for me...what I saw today at the March was a sign from a person there that stated...
'Joe Wilson~Truth Czar '

"What Joe Wilson Said"
Loved that.
No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.

We were right there when
September 12, 2009 - 20:24 ET by HermanoWe were right there when this report was going on. My wife was up front, but just out of camera range. I was behind the mob. It was hillarious (to me) when the crowd started shouting "Glenn Beck!" Bonnie shook the reporters hand and thanked her for covering the story. She was a little embarrassed about the rudeness of the crowd.

It sounded like someone was trying to calm them down
September 12, 2009 - 20:37 ET by nwahsWere you where that CNN interview was? I sounded like someone had a megaphone or something, and was trying to calm the crowd. Sounds like "Let them speak, don't be like them." Who had the megaphone and what was he doing for the first half of the interview?

September 12, 2009 - 21:27 ET by HermanoI was on the back side of this - actually in the street just beyond the crowd. I could not actually hear someone with a megaphone, and I could actually barely hear this group, even though I was at most 20 feet from them, since they were faced away from me.
