We've seen it over and over, people in Europe who imagine that they should be allowed to vote U.S. presidential elections. Some of these people imagine that they should have a voice in our elections because, they say, America is so supremely powerful that the man who becomes our president makes decisions that will impact the entire world. Now some far left think tanks and foundations have created a so-called "non-partisan" website called "Dear American Voter" for foreigners to make videos aimed at letting Americans know how they feel about our elections.
Obviously I don't want to beat around the bush (no pun intended) about who I think should be allowed to elect an American president. The Constitution wasn't made to cover the entire world so this is OUR election. No true American should give a flying fig what a foreigner says about our elections. Period.
So, what is their deal, anyway? Well, here is what they say about their mission:

The upcoming U.S. election will affect people all over the world, but only Americans will get the chance to vote. Would you like to send American voters a message? Make a video that tells how you would vote, and why. Even better, don't just tell them, show them: How have U.S. policies already changed the place where you live? What about the lives of your friends and family? You may not have your say in the ballot box, but you can still be heard!
I'd like to tell them what I think of their opinion.
Still, we have this site claiming to be "non-partisan" and just trying to promote "cross-cultural dialogue through innovative television formats," and "fostering collaboration through coalition building." And what sort of videos show up on our "non-partisan" site? Aside from a small handful of Hillary for president videos and a great many pro-Obama videos there are several Arabs saying Americans are murderers, pleas for socialistic healthcare programs, and nonsense about global warming.
Not surprisingly, there is almost nothing supporting conservatives and Republicans.
To get some of the flavor of the site, here are just a few random titles and blurbs explaining the videos posted on this site:

(U.S.A.) The Resident loves her country, but a lot of people don't. Let's discuss, eh?What kind of democracy is this?, by dearamericanvoter
(Syria) Abu Rami feels that America needs to treat the people of the Middle East as well as U.S. citizens -- and that President Bush is a "butcher."
Yeah, seems real "non-partisan," doesn't it?
Still, is it possible they are trying to be non-partisan? Well, to find out what is behind all this, one has to but follow the money. So, who is funding this Link TV stuff, anyway?
Link TV is funded by generous grants from numerous foundations including The Annenberg Foundation, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Wallace Global Fund, William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Shei’rah Foundation, Open Society Institute, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Otto Haas Charitable Trust, and Park Foundation, as well as contributions from individual viewers.
With that we see that some of the most left leaning foundations in the country fund this thing. In fact, the king of anti-American, leftism, George Soros, is the Chairman of one of them: the Open Society Institute. It makes one despair over any claim at being "non-partisan," doesn't it?
No, it seems more like what we have here is just another boring outlet for hate speak against America and one-sided, Democrat Party advocacy.
So much for bringing us together!
Look for the media to conveniently forget about who funds this thing if they pick up the story.

Wait for the horn to sound
May 22, 2008 - 01:04 ET by Captain RepusI really appreciate all of these well-meaning folks helping us out with our business. If either ClintonII or Obamie become president I am sure they will use this powerful new source of inspiration to formulate their policies, and will be more than happy to move us forward to the day when we are finally accepted into the world community.
Of course the down side to this is that when that pesky loud horn sounds and we all blindly march up to that scary big rock thingie with the big door, those of us who make it inside will not return to enjoy our new paradise. But who cares anyway, we will get to wear those great looking white togas and all of the girls will look like blonde Scandinavian goddesses. Hmmm..... I wonder what happened to all of those older folks?.... Hmmm.... pass the grapes please.
Shades of 'The Guardian'
May 22, 2008 - 00:55 ET by BondPlainBondI remember when one of Great Britain's newspapers, 'The Guardian' had a letter writing campaign whereby readers sent batches of letters to residents of Ohio urging them to vote for John Kerry in 2004. Another one of those "listen to the world, America, we know what's best for you" deals.
As I recall, 'The Guardian' viewed the whole letter-writing campaign a complete success while those living in Ohio found it to be of the greatest insult and an utter failure.
Will be interesting to follow this story through the inevitable twists and turns as Soros, the slimiest of the slimes, is at the helm of yet another propaganda campaign of disinformation.

May 22, 2008 - 05:52 ET by danybhoyI remember seeing this crap idea on the BBC news website in the Have Yor Say section. It amazed me how many people around the world believe they should have the right to choose our President, but never consider how much of the burden the USA takes on in protecting the free world, feeding the world, & inventing new medical technologies & medicines that help people everywhere-AT OUR EXPENSE. We pay for what the rest of the world uses.
When the rest of the world starts picking up the tab for our spending here in America, let alone abroad, then maybe we can talk, but until then, STFU.

May 22, 2008 - 09:21 ET by ahusserI think it pains them that we saved their sorry asses in WWII and rebuilt the countries of our former enemies W.Germany and Japan. We (unfortunately) even with a political component, are compassionate to a fault. We have poured our treasury into the rebuilding of Western Europe and Japan after the war and have secured their defense for 60 odd years at great expense. France, under DeGaulle, was the first to kick us out. Maybe we made a mistake and wasted our money. Right now the only europeans who are still on our side were behind the iron curtain and under the thumb of the Russians and know the cost of their freedom.
Ironically there is a crack in their socialist veneer and Europe maybe turning to the right while we are turning to the left.

First of all, you should understand that although Link TV has received funding from the Open Society Institute, of which George Soros is indeed the chairman, that has no bearing on our projects. The idea is our own, the site is our own, and I would be surprised if George Soros has ever heard of Link TV.
We only have a few videos expressing a Republican opinion because only a few have been submitted. On the international front, the world is largely in favor of Obama -- and we host any videos that are appropriate and on topic, so to say that the project is partisan is to misunderstand the site. That is the same as asserting Youtube is a partisan site. We are only the host. Anyone can post a video, and I invite you all to express your opinion on Dear American Voter.
We are not asserting that the world should pick our president, we are asserting that it is crucial that all opinions be weighed. The project is about the free exchange of ideas and opinions -- especially opinions that might otherwise be ignored. The value placed on freedom of speech couldn't be more American.
Again, I invite you all to participate in the project.
