NYT Admits Hsu Fund-Raising Scandal Not Being Covered by MSM

On September 7th we noticed that the scandal in the Democrat Party over illegal campaign donations was barely getting any coverage in the print media and the internet. Well, apparently, TV news isn't doing any better still. It's so obvious, even the juggernaut of the left, The New York Times, has taken note of how few network news reports have aired on the Hsu scandal... though not making a big deal of it, naturally. The news media is doing their level best to deep six the story to benefit Hillary, it seems. If the Hsu fits, anyway. (Do I have to explain that his name is pronounced "Shoe" in Chinese for that joke to work? I sure hope not.)

Also in a shocking move, in the Times' story revealing Hillary Clinton's decision to return an additional amount of Hsu's contributions, some strong words were used to describe the fugitive -- strong for the Times, anyway.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign announced last night that it would return about $850,000 to about 260 donors who had been recruited or tapped by Norman Hsu, the disgraced Clinton campaign fund-raiser who recently fled arrest and is now under investigation for his fund-raising practices.

Oooo! "Disgraced Clinton campaign fund-raiser," they said. Kudos for calling a spade a spade for a change, Times!

In any case, this Times story does a fine job detailing the tawdry campaign illegalities, amazingly enough. But, even for my praise for the story, I have to say the last paragraph might go a ways to explain why they have so boldly laid out the details of this episode without running too much flack for their girl, Hillary.

The Clinton campaign made its announcement around 6:40 p.m., shortly after the network news programs had begun on the East Coast. The timing was roughly the same Aug. 29, when Clinton advisers disclosed that they were giving Mr. Hsu’s $23,000 in personal donations to charity. Clinton aides, who have been trying to contain the damage from the case, have been monitoring the number of stories the evening news programs have run on Mr. Hsu — only a handful thus far.

Ah, there you see a hint, don't you?

Do they feel they have the luxury to print a harsher story than they otherwise might because they know this story is not getting much traction in the media because they are all running flack for Mrs. Clinton's campaign by keeping the story of "only a handful thus far?"

Just maybe.

I don't see how giving the money back gets her off the hook. There is no way she didn't know it was illegal money. Besides, she had it, technically, in her possession and possession is 9/10 of the law.

You are correct. If Hillary can simple return the money after getting caught without consequences, then it should also work for bank robbers.

P.S. Is the IRS going to ask some of these 'contributors', some of whom gave more than their annual pre-tax incomes, where that money came from?

Maybe this was just a warning to him for getting nabbed on Aug. 31st. He'll be out in a few years so they didn't want to make it permanent.

I wonder how much of the 2 million dollars in bail money he forfeited is " another bundle" he never "turned in" to the Clinton machine.

Has been monitoring as well, and hopefully it won't "take off". If it doesn't, it's because " the people weren't interested", of course.

I'm not sure why it isn't a frontpage story though. The guy has been a fugitive from the law for a long time, and as he's fleeing again with a 2 million dollar bail hanging in the works, he has some sort of nervous sweating breakdown on some train he hopped to cover his trail.

They will so bury the 260 (likely asian) names. I saw one report on Briebart I think that said he IS their largest donor. It's a freaking commie government agent, or some ****'ed defense industry rep from China, it's some guy that needs some presidential or NY state favor from the slimeball Hillary. Man, we've got criminal commies as Hillary's biggest donor.

I'm sorry but if a Presidential candidate can't figure out beforehand that their largest donor is a con artist criminal on the lamb, they should not be the POTUS of the USA.

No report has even told me if this Hsu is a US citizen (except saying he ran back to "his HongKong"), therefore he is NOT, but it's so eggregious and scandalous if we hear that repeated...

I believe that this story is much juicer than any of us currently realize. The bizare way Hsu was caught, and his crazy antics, will not be overlooked by my blogger peers. This story will be killed by the MSM. However once she wins the nomination, we would do well to make Hsu her running mate.

I can't give the NYT too much credit. The only reason they ran the story was there's no way Hillary can hand back almost a million dollars in donations and not have it noticed by the media. They can ignore $30,000, $50,000, etc., with impunity, but if they ignore $850,000, that gets noticed.

Well this is stranger than fiction:

A Pakistani businessman accused of illegally funnelling tens of thousands of dollars to the political campaigns of US senators Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer surrendered to the FBI on a year-old indictment on Tuesday, then collapsed in Los Angeles federal court, Los Angeles Times reported on Wednesday.

Looking tired and disoriented, Abdul Rehman Jinnah, 56, complained of chest pains and began shaking an hour into a contentious bond hearing before US Magistrate Judge Patrick J Walsh. The judge interrupted the hearing for nearly 30 minutes while paramedics attended to Jinnah. After Jinnah’s condition was stabilised and he was taken to a local hospital for an examination, "

Weird, another one. I guess the Clinton's give them something that makes their heart go pitter patter then hope they can arrange escape from the hospital to overseas - like the 125 other fugitives from the law the Clinton machine had last time.

Hsu is like that little piece of dislodged yarn on your sweater. When you begin pulling it, the whole sweater unravels. Hsu must now be Clinton's worse nightmare. The Clintons have a long history of accepting bribes --whoops--campaign money from unsavory sources, including the People's Republic of China going back to their Arkansas days. It's a miracle he is still alive after he was exposed as being a bag man for democrat campaign funds. Indeed, his bizarre behavior on the train to Colorado might suggest he'd been drugged by political operatives who wanted him out of the way. It will be interesting to see how the MSM treats this story in the coming days.
