Derrick Who? AP on Day 3 Without Story on Obama's Harvard Hero
This probably won't surprise anyone, but it should be noted for the record: As of 3:45 p.m. today, almost 72 hours after the related story broke, the Associated Press has not reported on new revelations about the clear influence radical, racist professor Derrick Bell had on now-President Barack Obama 20 years ago -- so influential that Obama "routinely assigned works by Bell as required reading" in his University of Chicago law classes. The AP has also not told its subscribing outlets and news consumers about how many of its colleagues in the press withheld information on the relationship between the two during the 2008 presidential election campaign. A search on Bell's name (not in quotes) at the AP's main site returns nothing relevant, even though it has been shown that Obama told a Harvard audience that people should "[O]pen your hearts and open your minds to the words of Prof. Derrick Bell."
However, there has been no shortage of coverage at the AP and elsewhere of what Mitt Romney did with his dog 29 years ago. But of course, the dog story is far more relevant to Mitt Romney's governing philosophy than Obama's love of a professor whose core life contention revolves around insurmountable white racism (/sarc). The AP's cover-up treatment of Bell has been consistent, as seen in the first three paragraphs of its brief write-up after the professor's death in October 2011 (bold is mine):
Story Continues Below Ad ↓A civil rights scholar who became the first tenured black professor at Harvard Law School has died. Derrick Bell was 80.
Bell's wife, Janet Dewart Bell, says he died Wednesday night of carcinoid cancer at a New York City hospital. He'd taught at New York University's law school since 1990.
Bell was long dissatisfied with the progress of race relations in America. He urged that laws, including civil rights laws, be examined for racism embedded within them.
Bell was really just another guy who wanted everyone to get along. There's nothing controversial here.
Uh, no.
There's so much important damning info on Bell that it's hard to know where to start. This excerpt from Dan Webb at Red Alert Politics crystallizes many important points (links are in original; bolds are mine):
Bell wrote in a piece in Human Rights in 2009 that “a democracy was more of a hindrance than a help in the lives of minority people,” showing his lack of faith in the United States government.Bell was the father (of) “Racial Realism” which posits that whites conspire to oppress blacks and racism in America is “integral, permanent and indestructible.” We can see how this view so thoroughly drove many of Bell’s controversial statements and actions.
In addition to the racialism Derrick Bell has so brazenly stood for, his actions also reveal where his values are. Of particular importance: He was on the legal team to provide research for Angela Davis, a former Communist Party vice presidential candidate, member of the Black Panther Party and suspect involved with the Soledad brothers abduction and murder of a South Carolina judge.
Two things must not be forgotten in all of this: One is that President Obama revered this man and viewed him as a mentor. And two: President Obama’s other mentor, Charles Ogletree, set out to actively conceal the video the late Andrew Breitbart was eventually able to procure.
As the Beaufort Observer notes in an editorial, Bell's core philosophy on race relations known as "critical race theory," is far more relevant than Mitt Romney's treatment of his dog, because "it (Bell's philosophy) explains more, perhaps, about what has been happening in this country over the last three years than anything else."
Which is why the Associated Press seems quite uninterested in exposing it, explaining it, or investigating the clear attempt to hide the full truth from voters in 2008.

This is still the 1950's, after all. Just ask the NAA(L)CP.
If the black community actually started looking at the cause of their problems instead of blaming Whitey, they might realize that it's the "leadership" of people like Bell, Jackson, Farrakhan and Sharpton that has kept them down for 40 years.
They might realize that you don't succeed by blaming everyone else instead of getting off your tail and making something of yourself.
They might actually realize that the welfare state has given them just enough to get by, but never enough to get ahead.
Who knows? They might actually realize that they have put themselves on a plantation of their own making, and that the Democrats have no intention of letting them off it. They need those votes too badly, and it's easier to buy them cheaply than to earn them.
But it's so much easier to blame it all on Whitey and "racism."
AND.....

Sadly the grievance machine will never allow for introspection, that would take away from their plan of inflicting perpetual guilt on the larger society.
Welcome to the other side of Liberal bias.

Thank you for displaying the glaring absent of any fall out stories or even follow-up questions. This sort of reverse-bias is extremely difficult to effectively identify and substantiate.
In the name of "vetting", we threw the Republican candidates to the dogs (MSM) and they torn them to pieces. For that reason alone Obama owes the process an explanation. Either way, this issue demands "vetting".
It's still a reach with this story........

When video of Obama speaking like Stokely Carmichael at Columbia University or on the street as a Community Agitator is released from someone's archives, THEN it will be a big deal.

...vetting. Ask Cain, Gingrich, and Romney about vetting previously resolved superficial peccadilloes over10 and 20 years old. Obama is caught interacting with individuals of opposing core beliefs fundamental to the political direction of this country. Political bias is a form of racism and a 1st Amendment issue.

on a 20 yr old tape embracing a known white supremist with a history of radical and vile speeches at some sort of gala after saying kind words about how wonderful he is would have been met with wall to wall coverage that would have made the Lott/Thurman incident look like a blurb on a slow news day!
The msm will always be this country's greatest enemy.

If you're on Facebook or Twitter or whatever else is widely viewed, link these stories and be a true squeaky wheel. We only have one chance to get this guy out of office and this episode is proof that the press is colluding with the DNC to protect the President at all costs!
We've got to be the subject matter expert in our social circles. Keep a file folder or bookmarks list of the lies so you'll have them at your fingertips. Good luck!

NYT claims there is 'no such thing as truth'. It will take at least a week to saturate the appropriate resources. I wager Jon Stewart is first to spread the newer, more truthier version.
Gassing a White kid -- Acceptable?

I suppose in Mr. Bell's world. Pouring gasoline is an acceptable form of expression on target person's. Beating up white people on Fair Grounds, and adverstising in local Black Communities that's it Whack A Whitey Night.
how this guy gets free access to our colleges and universities is unbelievable. And its all day normal as usual with our higher institutions. You know, those places people pay massive portions of their incomes hoping that their offspring will get a degree and position in life. But the places of higher learning have degenerated into a hell hole of social activism. Those crazy bastards of counter culture of the late 60's and early 70's are the Senior tenured Professors now. And they permit some really crazy stuff to be done on these grounds we set aside as places of higher learning.
A Mr.Bell is a prime example of "education gone wild". And its maybe time we had these people explain themselves to a commission. Its time to rid public places of well placed anarchists.
When a Mr.Bell can sell his ship full BS to students and get paid for it from tuition money pulled from unsuspecting tuition payers. Its time to end the gravy train.

I noticed a story at UPI on the release of the Obama protest at Harvard. The
link had a small picture of Breitbart at a podium. I clicked the link and
the "story" featured the same Breitbart pic in a larger size. Wouldn't you
think it would be of Obama? And the story didn't reach for any true
conclusion as to why the video was released. It was pretty much, "Nothing to
see here. Go back to sleep."

The dog/Bell comparison is an excellent observation, well done Mr. Blumer.
Counterpoints such as yours are what are missing/needed on the political talk shows such as Meet the (Liberal) Press, This Week with George, and Face The (Obama) Nation.
Of course, offering counterpoints such as yours are the reason why you will never be invited to appear on Meet the (Liberal) Press, This Week with George, and Face The (Obama) Nation. . . .

Bell isn't racist. You obviously have never been to college:
Only whites can be racist. Non-whites have no power. Whites have power. They are the majority in the nation. That means they have the supremacy. That is why the laws and courts are all based on white supremacy.
Bell is black. Black people only amount to 17% of the population nationally. So, they obviously have no power in a democracy. Race + Power = Racism. No power. Not racist. If John Rocker had only been non-white, he'd have been free to say whatever he wanted....just like Bell.
