First, Bill Whittle at National Review Online.
That will be followed by observations of commenter "Tom W" (not yours truly) at Pajamas Media.
If they indeed reflect what is happening on the ground, you won't hear about it from the Associated Press, or read it in the New York Times, or see it on the Big Three Networks news or cable shows -- which is why it's so necessary to post items like this here. In fact, it's fair to say that if you were going to see commentary and commenting such as that which follows, it would have occurred already.
Here's just a taste (HT NixGuy) of what Whittle, whose columns are always read-the-whole thingers, had to say:
I’ve seen post after post on Hillary forums about how much they love Sarah, how they are energized and lifted out of depression by her (and the sight of an actual Roll Call made some of them weep). They gush about how she reminds them of their hero, how tough and savvy and unafraid she is. And I have seen these women, hard-core, feminist Democrats for 30 years and more, sit in slack-jawed amazement at Palin and at how fiercely Republicans — Republicans! — are defending her, backing her, and cheering her to the rafters. These Clinton supporters say they don’t know what to think any more: The Republicans are behaving like Democrats and the Democrats are behaving like Republicans!
If you think that’s an insult, you’ve got it exactly backwards. That is not only a huge compliment from these abandoned, centrist Democrats who bemoan the loss of their party to the radicals, it is an early rumbling of a tectonic shift in American politics which we are only dimly beginning to grasp. Who are the real feminists? A significant portion of our former hard-core opposition is now rethinking in a fundamental way who it is that actually does what their former allies only talk about.
Expect the PC Police and their media allies to exert maximum effort in the coming eight weeks to put a lid on this. Good luck.
Now, here's Tom W's comment (fourth one down at Michael Weiss's Pajamas Media post):
The PUMAs are starting to love Palin because every single adult woman has stories of being patronized, passed over, etc., by men, and Palin has already shown that she will gut anybody who tries that on her.
Get this: I’ve now heard dozens of times that when Palin was trashing Obama, PUMA members say they were jumping up and down in their homes, screaming at the TV, in absolute flabbergasted wonder at this woman’s power, ease, style, grace, brains, and ability to speak and connect with the audience. Mostly, though, they love her mad assassin’s skillz.
American women will not let this candidate go. They love her deeply, not as a goddess, but as a sister, and they are slowly absorbing the fact that it took the REPUBLICANS to put a woman on the ticket. We may see many radical feminists become Republicans, I kid you not. One PUMA went to McCain’s speech last night, and she started sobbing because McCain was so humble and emotional, and the people around her were so nice, patriotic, and happy. She’s used to ugly, angry, smelly leftists.
And this is a vital point to remember: McCain honored all women by choosing an exceptional woman who outshines him. He is so much of a man, so comfortable and secure with his masculinity, that he is entirely unthreatened by the fact that he has chosen the person who will eventually eclipse him. If he had chosen a nonentity, they’d be enraged at the pandering, but by choosing someone more impressive than he is and making clear that she will be an activist veep, he showed all women that he’s sincere.
From what I hear from the PUMAs, they’re going to fight to the death to elect McCain, in gratitude for him choosing such a formidable, accomplished, skilled predator with a record of leaving sexist men huddled on the floor in tears. Nobody’s ever seen anything like Palin. She makes Hillary and Boxer and all the other Beltway insiders look like bizarre life-sized wind-up toys that say and do the same thing over and over for years, without actually accomplishing anything.
Several feminists are now predicting a McCain-Palin landslide.
Here’s hoping.
Wow. No wonder, as noted yesterday by NewsBusters colleague Noel Sheppard, Obama supporter Oprah Winfrey won't book Palin.

September 6, 2008 - 10:54 ET by ThisnThatI think they're right. I was in the car listening to Rush when McCain introduced Palin, and was astounded at her introductory speach. Palin is a force, and I don't care who votes for her -- as long as they do. And I agree -- this could very well be a landslide of Reagonesque proportions.

But for many others, it's nowhere near as important as seeing tangible evidence that they can show to their daughters that they can accomplish anything.

September 6, 2008 - 16:44 ET by kdoliverAs I get older it seems that some women, even more conservative ones, to focus on abortion because that is one issue that in there mind is for women only.
I was in the elevator yesterday (DC Area) at work and this woman was commenting that she could never vote for anyone that was not in favor of abortion on demand. She even favored abortion up to the 7th month. Thats insane even by my libertarian standards.
I think too many women have been brain-washed into abortion as the only issue. What the miss is that is two fold--1) a strong, graceful woman on the national stage will benefit them in the long run, and 2) when the socialist/fascists take control of the country they will lose that right if it doesn't benefit the socialists.

What the MSM won't admit
September 6, 2008 - 11:14 ET by WingletDriverThe MSM wants so hard to make us feel like BHO was fishing on our side of the stream, that there were a lot of Republicans/Conservatives who were going to vote Dem. This made no sense from the beginning, but looks even more ridiculous now that Palin has energized the base--this last point may not last, but she certainly has charisma and hasn't been overexposed.
It is inherently obvious that McCain/Palin are fishing on the Dem side of the stream. Joe Leiberman gave a speech at the RNC and Geraldine Ferraro wouldn't say who she was voting for. These are two former Veep candidates for the Dems. Ferraro may eventually move back to the left, but if somebody as hard core feminist, pro-abortion as her can't even endorse BHO, they've got a lot of trouble with the Soccer Moms.

Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air and I will be honored to vote for McCain and her.

September 6, 2008 - 12:00 ET by FastEdand I use the word "might" strongly - what needs to be done now is for the MavCudda ticket to point out the socialist movement of the O'Bidden ticket - taxing compaines (the demolib hate of business), and the resulting loss of jobs and then they'll question why jobs were being sent off shore!
The dynamic of higher taxes will certainly cause a change, the problem of big government cure-alls will come back to bite the demolibs, as all of their schemes have (special prosecutors comes to mind).
MavCudda also needs to point out the sprial of what taxes will do to the economy, business and the "poor" that the dems are so fond. Here is a question that dem liberals need to ask themselves and be honest with their answer - If taxing the rich is so good, and has been tried before, how much of that money has gone into YOUR pocket? Additionally, after the rich have been taxed to the limit, where does the next tax hit, the almost rich?

We want somebody who is strong and unafraid. We want somebody who remembers that this government is of, by , and for the people. We want somebody who will not roll over for the Republicans/Democrats/Media. We want somebody who is, in short, like us. And in Sarah Palin, we got it. And we never expected it. That hits us hard. We'll be voting Palin in November.

How about an 8-minute expose regarding Palin's "questionable" trooper and brother-in-law behavior in Alaska, that's what! 8-minutes -- put together in less than a week, trying to bring Palin down in ways that only the MSM can -- by inuendo, questions left unanswered, hints and suggestions of dark, back-room dealings and suspicious (yet unrecorded) phone calls. All that suspician -- just left hanging in the air, there.
Know what I haven't seen? An 8-minute expose of Obama and his terrorist or land-deal shennaigans. I wonder why; and I wonder why CNN claims it's not biased?

You will find a difference in Sarah Palin
September 6, 2008 - 13:00 ET by Lame CherryA most excellent posting again Mr. Blumer. You have really shown the right metal these past days. I can not commend you enough.
We must all rise to the occassion and fight for our America now being born by Sarah Palin. It is America by God's foundation we believe in.
I post below my blog as of last night to add to the facts. It is time this goes beyond bloggers in this fight for America or for Noonan, Gingrich, Limbaugh, Hannity to get out of the way so those who have taken up the cause in this our St. Crispen's Day in taking America back to give it not in our possession, but to give it back to all Americans.
*
I am incensed.
I have had to watch the political rape of a woman in Sarah Palin from the right and the left of America.
I
have beheld David Letterman judge Sarah Palin stating she should be
handing condoms out to her children and I have witnessed the disgusting
attacks from the National Enquirer calling her a slut.
I have
watched Newt Gingrich hide in the weeds at the Republican Convention
being shown like bump on a log not listening to one speech and then
come crawling out after Sarah Palin triumphed in "noting she was being
attacked" and then showing his bravery.
I have watched Peggy Noonan
get caught on tape showing what all these right wing pundits are in
being paid shills living off of hard working Conservatives as shills
for the globalist elite.
I have watched this mob ravage the entire Palin family with the disregard of a pedophile rapist.
It is beyond disgusting and it is beyond inhumane it is inhuman.
In
all of this, I have ripped Barack Obama to shreds like no one else has
in what I have exposed. In not being a John McCain supporter I thrashed
his socialism and nuclear foreign policy to shreds.
In every
moment of this though, I have never once forgotten to include support
for Mr. Obama in noting he needs counseling, never forgetting his two
daughters who need him and never forgetting that the White House would
destroy a 10 year old boy whom he is.
I have never forgotten John
McCain in I was the one who first blogged pressing he needed a
Conservative woman to find a way to victory.
In all of this, I
have always advocated a better way and I never once ever did anything,
but set a course which would protect the Obama and McCain households,
along with Joe Biden and Sarah Palin.
What is most disgusting to
me in all of the attacks is the brutalization of a teenage girl who is
5 months pregnant by people so absolutely self absorbed that they never
once considered that trauma for that girl is being felt by the child
she carries.
That baby is under emotional stress right now affecting
how they will live their entire lives and it is all because of people
like David Letterman, Jeffery Toobin, Bill Maher, Peggy Noonan and
whatever other ilk from Obama's savages attacking that family to Newt
Gingrich not uttering one syllable until the woman cleared the mine
field.
This is not a plea, but a cold iron handed 60 below zero
stinging slap to the face of all of these animals to figure it out that
pregnancy stress causes miscarriages and God forbid that baby dies.
Hey David Letterman, are you going to be proud in mounting a miscarried baby on your wall as your trophy?
Bill
Maher, Campbell Brown, Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and all your
festering ilk, will you show off that child above your mantel once you
stress that family out enough so you murder that child?
All of
you are sick, pathetic, senseless incredible excuses for humans. You
are family rapists, infanticide deviants and pure cannibals in preying
on your own species.
God save and preserve that unborn child and
that entire family, but fully know know this you "people" that there is
a God who records all of this and He is intently recording this orgy of
rapine which is putting stress on a baby endangering the lives of
mother and child.
It isn't going to work David Letterman with
your long pouting face then changing your mind with a child miscarried.
All of you want this on your conscience? If you don't have one people,
I promise I will burn one in for you as I fully intend to note in the
forever internet what your excrement of thought has been doing in
abusing an unborn child.
I will stand for that child and I will
call others to join this and they will make note of it and in chivalry
rise for a family against the beasts which you are.
I close with Henry V in words for your princely pustule,
With scorn and defiance; slight regard, contempt,
And any thing that may not misbecome
The mighty sender, doth he prize you at.
Thus says my king; an' if your father's highness
Do not, in grant of all demands at large,
Sweeten the bitter mock you sent his majesty,
He'll call you to so hot an answer of it,
That caves and womby vaultages of France
Shall chide your trespass and return your mock
In second accent of his ordnance.
Do not ever forget you beasts in human skins;
And, be assured, you'll find a difference,
As we Sarah Palin's subjects have in wonder found,
Between the promise of her greener days
And these she masters now. Now she weighs time
Even to the utmost grain; that you shall read
In your own losses, if you stay in your nature of rapine.

September 6, 2008 - 22:16 ET by HippopaulimusToo true...the only problem is, if she loses the baby, the media will blame Gov. Palin, for exposing her daughter to this stress, and not being there for her during the pregnancy. They will never accept any responsibility on their part. Yes, they are absolute piles of rat feces.
I wouldn't worry too much though, the teenage Palin comes from hearty stock...and so does the baby.

September 6, 2008 - 13:32 ET by mom_roxI would think that the libs would be rejoicing over the conservatives' reactions regarding the Bristol Palin pregnancy, showing tolerance and realizing that parents cannot control everything their child does.
I remember the criticisms (blaming poor parenting and pop culture) over the pregnancies of Jamie Lynn Spears and the Gloucester, MA high school teens. It's good to see people a little more tolerant during a non-ideal situation (not promoting teen pregnancies or teen sex, but being not so judgemental about it).

September 6, 2008 - 14:01 ET by maggieqpublicRepublican policies support the hard-working individual, regardless of gender. The feminists who realize that real feminism should not be anti-male may, indeed, reconsider party affiliation. Governor Palin is a wonderful example of a strong woman who is willing to confront old-boy corruption… and at the same time she is warm, graceful, attractive, and she does not hate men. The Democratic Party concept of a feminist remains the angry, us-versus-them, victim.
(In fact, Palin’s characteristics on the ‘plus’ side are so numerous, it’s almost scary…. all wrapped-up in the package of an everyday American poking her finger in the eye of the Washington elitist politicians and their MSM groupies.)
1996 Alaskan Debate For Gov. Sunday Night On C-SPAN
September 7, 2008 - 02:42 ET by Intellectual HonestyWhile I believe some in the MSM may have already gotten a copy of this (and thus makes it even more clear why Obama and the Democrat MSM are firing all cheap cylinders) tomorrow (or today, Sunday, as I write this) C-SPAN will show the 1996 Governor's Debate (I believe at 6:30 PM EST) between Palin and Murkowski. I think it is safe to presume that she was very impressive since she went on to defeat the entrenched incumbent.
While I am disgusted as everyone else at the complete lack of journalistic integrity regarding Gov. Palin, after all the huffing and puffing, false accusations, rumor played as fact, in the end people want to just see her to make their own cocnclusions and the real Sarah Palin will come across as a genuine article both in this 1996 debate and and the upcoming VP debate.
I can't wait. Happy viewing.
