Not all pseudo-Republican women are out of a pundit’s job this week. Shortly after it reported Nicolle Wallace was being cut by The View, Variety reported Fox News Channel is picking up Meghan McCain as a contributor. That certainly doesn’t add a conservative voice to the allegedly unanimous channel...and it doesn't add intellectual heft to the often-dissed Fox blondes.
McCain has two books on her resume with “sexy” in thte title: Dirty Sexy Politics, as well as a book titled America, You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to Freedom, with comedian Michael Ian Black.
Brian Steinberg wrote young McCain “has identified” as a Republican before, when it was about the family’s business:
McCain, who has identified as a Republican in the past, could well offer the viewpoint of a different member of that political party: one hailing from the millennial generation. She has in the past championed gay rights and come out against anti-immigration legislation, and has publicly challenged commentators like Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham.
In her writings she’s expressed ambivalence about Sarah Palin, the former Fox News contributor who ran for U.S. vice president alongside her father, and admiration for Hillary Clinton, who is now vying for the Democratic nomination for U.S. president.
We made fun of Meghan in 2009 for lamenting the incivility of Rep. Joe Wilson yelling "You lie!" at Obama during a State of the Union speech. We noted she was not exactly a role model for polite dialogue, a few old headlines will suffice:
McCain Daughter to Conservative Radio Host: 'Kiss My Fat Ass!'
Meghan McCain Calls Joe the Plumber a 'Dumb Ass'
Meghan McCain: 'Most of the Old School Republicans Are Scared Sh--less' of Future
The other truly bizarre moment is young McCain showing up on MSNBC with her buddy Rachel Maddow to slam the "radical right" Tea Party and the homophobes, and having Maddow count her as one of the "conservatives" she loves to invite.
