Worst of the Week: Team Obama's Media Helpers Hide Bad News for Democrats
While network correspondents complain about the unfairness of independent advertising, they might ponder the unfairness of their habitual tendency to omit or downplay bad news for Team Obama, especially in the crucial last weeks of a campaign. Consider some of the latest stories that would have drawn much more attention and media hostility if the shoe was on the Republican foot:

■ Oil spill incompetence or dishonesty. A panel assembled by the White House to assess the government’s oil spill response issued a report declaring the Obama administration created the impression that it was “either not fully competent” or “not fully candid with the American people about the scope of the problem.” While the spill itself drew daily coverage for months, this story was quickly reported and vanished within 24 hours. NBC offered a full story in the evening, ABC and CBS in the morning. None of these stories allowed any comment from Republicans, and there were no interview segments.
■ Delayed Democrat ethics trials. The House ethics committee conveniently decided to delay the trials for black liberal Reps. Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters until after the election. Republicans on the ethics committee issued an unprecedented statement accusing committee chairman Zoe Lofgren of purposely stalling the trials. Network coverage? Zero.
■ More John Edwards subpoenas. Federal prosecutors have served a new batch of subpoenas as part of an ongoing investigation into whether Edwards improperly used presidential campaign funds to support his mistress. Network coverage? ABC and CBS aired nothing; NBC offered two anchor briefs on Today.

■ Stimulus dollars for the dead. The inspector general of the Social Security Administration reported that nearly $18 million in stimulus payments were sent to 72,000 dead people, and only about half the money was returned. Another $4.3 million was paid to 17,000 people in prison. Network coverage? ABC and CBS offered anchor briefs on their morning shows. NBC aired nothing.
■ Big setback in trying terror suspects. In the Obama Justice Department’s first showcase attempt to try a Guantanamo terrorist suspect in civilian court, a Clinton-appointed federal judge barred a witness in the case of Ahmed Ghailani, accused of aiding the bombing of two U.S. embassies in 1998. CBS Evening News offered an anchor brief, with Couric calling it a “big setback for federal prosecutors,” not for the Obama administration. ABC and NBC skipped it.

Or, what the public doesn't know, hasn't happened. ;-)
Shameless self-promotion: I referred to the Chicago media guys around Emanuel as the Media Mafia; I think we should apply that name to the national media as well.

But they do seem to be softening their defense of the administration. Nothing huge, but real questions are starting to be asked. Let's face it, he's making the MSM look very, very bad.

Unemployment claims

Did you see the CNBC woman on MSNBC with the breaking news about the unemployment claims? "Well, we were expecting an increase of about a thousand, but got thirteen thousand...." and then she quickly brought something else up and the unemployment claims were not to be discussed again.
It's not the "media"

The "media" has faces and names.
It is:
George Stepahanopoulos
Harry Smith
Matt Lauer
Diane Sawyer
Brian Williams
Katie Couric
Your 2.5 million dollar campaign needs to name names. ABC, CBS, and NBC all have people that are guilty of lies, distortion and coverup.
"Enron" didn't go to jail, Kenneth Lay did. Enron wasn't guilty of crimes, it was the people who ran it.
Enough of the corporations Disney, GE and Viacom. It's the people I listed. Who cares about their logos?
You guys do a GREAT job, but the vast number of commenters here would like to see the anchors responsible on the Front Line of Lies called out.

the oil spill was a golden opportunity

The Obama watermellons used and abused the oil well blowout as a golden opportunity to show America that oil is evil. All the delays and deliberate misdirections were used to amplify the problem and keep it in the headlines.
Once again, we were saved by the internet. The real news kept leaking out all over the internet time and time again. It showed how incompetent/evil the Administration's minions were in this bit of Environmental Kabuki. We The People know, Osama bin Bama. You are so-o-o-o-o unAmerican and your fingerprints are all over this.
Vote in NO!-vember folks. Do NOT get complacent. Get out there and VOTE!
