Ed Schultz appeared at the end of MSNBC’s Countdown tonight for the "Big Announcement" that he will take over the 6pm slot on the left-wing cable "news" network on Monday with "The Ed Show." Last week, MRC president Brent Bozell issued a press release about the negotiations between the talker and MSNBC, taking the network even further to the left: "I will offer NBC a bit of friendly advice: When you find yourself in an embarrassment hole, stop digging,"
Schultz responded by blowing smoke on his radio show that rumors of an MSNBC show were baseless speculation, and that he was a "radio guy...I’m not going anywhere." Is that a lie, or simply a Clintonesque non-denial denial? He said:
But I find it interesting that out of nowhere, where there's no basis of anything, it's just a bunch of speculation out there, that Brent Bozell would put out a statement about MSNBC for associating with Ed if that ever happens, and he's got, quote, some friendly advice (laughs) He's got friendly advice.
Before that, he said:
Who is Brent Bozo? He's with some media research, right-wing outfit and he put out a press release yesterday saying that MSNBC is lower than whale manure or whatever, I don't know what he, it's something about, if they hire Schultz, it's the lowest of the low. First of all, just, folks, settle down. I'm here on the Ed Schultz Show. Everything's fine. I'm not going anywhere, I'm a radio guy, OK? I'm a radio guy. I'm here.
It might be understandable to want to quash rumors about contract negotiations while they're ongoing. But wouldn't it have been smarter and more temperate for Schultz to restrain himself from saying "I'm not going anywhere"?

Thu, 04/02/2009 - 02:32 ET by danybhoyBirch,
Who cares if the name sucks? Wait until America gets to see & hear what this @$$clown does on his new show. This guy might be too toxic for MSNBC, & I'm not kidding. MSNBC has almost no standards, they put the likes of BathTubBoy, Mancow, Matthews, Mika, & the guy he's replacing, Shuster, on the air. These are clueless leftist hacks who don't understand how to inform & entertain in order to get ratings.
So Shultz will fit right in. Plus, he is more volatile then Olby, no lie. This guy has been in barfights, it should make for cringe inducing television, & it will be 1 of his meltdowns that gets him sacked, I'm guessing within 18 months. He should be funny for a while, & his lack of ratings within 10 weeks of launching will be as well. I did read at another media website where some lib-lefty was happy to have "3 heavy hitters" going up against Fox. The 3 were BathTubBoy, Mancow, & now Schultz. I do love that Matthews has fallen out of favor despite getting a reported 4 year extention at MSNBC, & I love that Shuster can't earn his own show on that pukefest.

Did Ed Schultz Lie...?
Thu, 04/02/2009 - 01:05 ET by vstolLying's an awfully strong word. . . yes, he's lying. And we should tell the truth about media credibility. The New York Observer was first to report on discussions between MSNBC and Mr. Schultz---other print media and web sites picked up the story and reported it in their media sections. MRC stands for "Media Research Center," and a statement released by their president, Brent Bozell, in response to the "speculation" of Mr. Schultz, a self-professed member of "we lefties with microphones," being hired by the far-far-left wing of NBC News should not be considered "interesting" or out of line by anyone with half a brain..
The difference is, Mr. Schultz engages in vile, personal attacks, while MRC provides some measure of accountability for and exposure of liberal media bias.
And we should tell the truth about this... media credibility is important, if for no other reason than accurately representing what someone said, as in Mr. Bozell's case, where Mr. Schultz says, "...he put out a press release yesterday saying that MSNBC is lower than whale manure or whatever, I don't know what he, it's something about, if they hire Schultz, it's the lowest of the low,"
when the actual statement reads:
“Do you really want to add Ed Schultz, NBC? The terrible and terribly liberal MSNBC line-up is already incredibly damaging and a nightly embarrassment to your news division. Yet you somehow look at it and say ‘What we need is another angry Leftist to round out our evening programming.’
I will offer NBC a bit of friendly advice: When you find yourself in an embarrassment hole, stop digging.”
Sound advice, I'd say, without raising "whale manure," which is an entirely different endeavor.

Thu, 04/02/2009 - 06:26 ET by HockeyKidOh, this is too rich. First, Schulzie's "Who is Brent Bozo" comment, as though the talking jackass Mr. Ed is so much more well-known than Our Mr. Bozell. Ha!
Then the title. As noted by others, they couldn't come up with something better than THE ED SHOW?! And they wonder why leftists' media ratings sink to the bottom of the ocean every time. They should have just called it "Mr. Ed" and redone the theme song:
An ass is an ass, no class no class,
And asses can't think, they just harass,
And hee, and haw, and pass more gas,
Just like our Mr. Ed!
