CNN reporter Susan Roesgen became a pseudo-"journalistic" anti-hero yesterday for her obnoxiously belligerent interview of one Taxed Enough Already (TEA) Party participant and her overall assessment of the more than 750 events around the country as amongst other derogatory things "anti-government."
But in another segment, she delved into rank hypocrisy the likes of which we rarely find even in the woefully biased liberal media pantheon.
In it she sought out another TEA Party participant who had a mocked-up sign in which President Barack Obama is melded with Adolf Hitler. She immediately began arguing with this gentleman as well; amongst the things she angrily said were "Why be so hard on the President of the United States with such an offensive message?" and "Do you realize how offensive that is?"
We will admit that portraying President Obama as Der Fuhrer is a bit over the top. But Miss Roesgen's sensitivity to being "so hard on the President of the United States with such an offensive message" seems only to arise when the Hitler-izing involves Democratic Commanders-in-Chief.

| Not So Offensive to Miss Roesgen's Sense and Sensibilities |
"City officials aren’t the only ones wondering when federal money will materialize. Catholic school girls marched on Jackson Square. They and their teachers say more money is needed to fix the levees, and they hoped the President would stop by after his meeting with business leaders. But while a look-alike showed up with a wad of cash, Mr. Bush did not." (Video here)
The "look-alike" to which Miss Roesgen referred is pictured at right. As in Bush with an Adolf Hitler mustache (and Satan devil horns).
Miss Roesgen did not chastise the porter of the giant BusHitler cranium for being so offensively hard on the President. Quite the contrary; she obviously saw him/her/It as furthering the story she wished to tell. So she directly referenced him/her/It in her alleged "news" report.
Oh what a difference a Party makes for Miss Roesgen's hyper-sensitivity to Presidential affronts.
H/t Adam Weiss for the video kick-in.

I linked to the old NB blog in another thread (h/t Michelle Malkin who referenced it) but it deserves its own thread.

April 16, 2009 - 11:43 ET by The_PumpcropI know several people who are buying into this media propaganda about the "evils" of "these idiots and racist Obama haters" who are attending these "Fox News-sponsored Tea-bagging parties". Obama is "The Messiah" and he is NOTHING like Bush. He talks well, they say. Bush was an idiot and blah, blah, blah. But they were real Americans standing against the last Administration and now WE are anti-American AND racist AND fools AND kool aid drinkers AND Nazi Party Members and on and on, because we won't follow in behind The Great O. These rallies are unAmerican and hate driven, they yell at me. The hypocrisy and stupidity is running wild, people!
Don't forget the editors
April 16, 2009 - 11:43 ET by KC MulvilleThe reporter's bias, hostility, and disrespect is obvious. No need to comment on her behavior, since it speaks for itself.
But I don't want to skip the editors. This wasn't one reporter's view. Some producer and editor put her there, knowing full well what she was going to do. That's why they put her there.
This was CNN as a whole, displaying contempt for these citizens protesting. CNN is happy when citizens protest, so long as the protest is liberal - but when conservatives protest, they go out of their way to frame it negatively.
Remember this the next time the media claims to give a damn about you. Remember this the next time they promote their right to free speech; they've proved that they care about their own free speech, but no one else's. Remember this the next time they claim to report the news without bias.

April 16, 2009 - 11:55 ET by UtherpendI am just sad that she didn't find a person at the rally that could have point out to her about CNN bias and the fact that Socialism is not an American Ideal.
I would have turned the question around on her and asked if she supported a goverment that is going to spend 3 times more than the Bush Admin and then say they are for change. Or who is paying all the bills that BO is raking up, is it the American people, so we have a right to say we don't like what they are doing on Capital Hill.

To be honest, I don't
April 16, 2009 - 12:39 ET by QueenMumTo be honest, I don't believe Roesgen deserves all this attention. What an ignorant hack. It appears she was hired for her looks. That's the only explanation that makes sense. A high school student could have done a better job covering the rally. Be that as it may, why is it that chicks like her feel they need to defend the honor of the Dear Leader? How emasculating is that?
Further, it's laughable for example, to compare the sort of fawning coverage on the likes of CNN for the illegal immigrant rallies to the Tea Party rallies. In the case of the illegals, we have people giving status to those who have broken the law. In the case of the Tea Party coverage, we have the MsM demonizing honest American citizens who are merely defending the Constitution. Or how about the sympathetic treatment of Cindy Sheehan - who anyone with a scintilla of intellectual honesty would consider a certified nutjob. Who in the mainstream media ever asked her whether or not she thought the things she had to say about Pres. Bush were disrespectful?
IMO, the MsM coverage (or lack of coverage) of the Tea Party phenomenon is by far the most blatant and ignorant example of media bias to date.

Nope, they sure didn't. Partly because they were demonstrating along with the others. Well, on the INSIDE, anyways. Far be it for them to show their disapproval OUTWARDLY, as that would lessen their journalistic credibility.

April 16, 2009 - 13:44 ET by RR GOPOh come on, this is indeed mostly to do with the new regime. Sure, we weren't happy with the Bush-Paulson bail out, but it has gotten ridiculous and besides, it simply isn't about bail outs, but the massive spending that belittles anything that happened under Bush, concerns about the erosion of our economic system/country and possible curtailment of freedoms.

April 16, 2009 - 16:08 ET by Peter-in-NYCThe only problem is that man who said Obama is a fascist should have been able to argue his point better than a 10-year old. If I were to hold that sign I'd have had my talking point ready.
"Obama is a fascist because he is taking away our freedoms, while pandering to those who helped get into power. Like many fascists these people will do anything to keep power, and will rise to any criticism."
I keep telling my friends, just wait. There is going to be a law passed, and the media will jump up and down to support it, which will make it a crime to mock the president.

...and of course they won't have to obey those same laws anyway...no repercussions whatsoever.

Michelle Malkin
April 16, 2009 - 17:37 ET by Rusty WeissMichelle Malkin covered this blatant hypocrisy on her Web site as well, giving credit to NewsBusters for uncovering the 'Bush as Hitler Lookalike' clip from over 3 years ago.
Love seeing NewsBusters credited for their body of work. The average viewer isn't going to remember a supposedly impartial reporter thinking the comparison of Bush to Hitler is a big joke. But thanks to NewsBusters, all one has to do is see a reporter make an a$$ of themselves on national television, search the archives and say, 'oh yea, she was an incompetent a$$ years ago too!'
Make no mistake, people who think it is appropriate to compare ANY of our leaders to Hitler are juvenile clowns. Last I checked, neither Bush nor Obama created a holocaust. Criticizing ideology is fine, hyperbolic comparisons are not.
What Roesgen doesn't realize is that by finding the Bush/Hitler comparison to be nothing more than a lookalike, but the Obama/Hitler comparison is just too much to bear, and 'offensive' to so many people, she is no better than the man in that video clip. She is at that low level. Problem being, she is supposed to be a journalist, a professional. Unfortunately, with yesterday's reporting Roesgen demonstrated that she is neither.
On the other hand, here's hoping Susan Roesgen keeps providing biased comedy bits for those of us who realize that CNN is nothing more than a perpetual punchline anyway.
