Journalists’ Union: ‘We Are The 99%!’

By Scott Robbins | June 21, 2012 | 15:32

A  A

As preposterous as it sounds, some union journalists believe they’re “the 99%.” At least that’s what they chant.

The Communications Workers of America (CWA), which represents journalists and other communications workers, has shown again just how far left it really is. On its website, CWA posted a video from its protest against Verizon, aka “verigreedy.” The protest resembles more an Occupy Wall Street demonstration, and small wonder, since CWA openly supports Occupy.

On the video, CWA members can be heard chanting “We are the 99%!,” and holding signs that appear to be union-made saying “Occupy Wall Street, Occupy Verizon, Occupy Everything.”

On their “verigreedy” campaign page, CWA also claims to be a “Proud Member Of: 99% Power.” 99% Power is a coalition of people “united together to build an economy and a democracy that works for all us [sic], not just for the 1%.” Among its partners in 99% Power are typical left-wing organizations, like MoveOn.org, Common Cause, and SEIU.

Promoting left wing causes is nothing new for this union representing journalists. Previously the BMI reported how the CWA head chafed at the “limits of democracy” as he laid out his left-wing bucket list to, well, reclaim democracy. The Newspaper Guild, part of the CWA, previously applauded Obama for his gay marriage views.

Let 'em out of the yard !!

Get out there, race around, bark like crazy, and pee and crap all over the neighborhood. In other words, pick up where Occupy Wall Street left off last year.

Then see what the 99% really think of you.

Greedy union goons and thugs

Submitted by John21 on Thu, 06/21/2012 - 3:57pm.

Greedy union goons and thugs are not news anymore, find a union without the greed, the thugs, and goons and some level of intelligence and that would be news.

HAHAHAHAHA

Another bubble organization. Those that live and work in the I95 bubble of an alternate reality to most people in this country.
Along with IBEW these guys pine for the Ma Bell days before Judge Green came to town. In those days there would always be three union workers to do one job. One to do the work, one to sleep in the truck another as lookout for the roving supervisor. Raping Ray Smith and Ivan the Terrible saw you guys for what your are - blood suckers!
And like all unions - what has it gotten you? Where possible, jobs are sent overseas (where are all the AT&T plants and Bell Labs) and where not possible, across the board job cuts. Way to feather bed.
And for you bums in journalism - guess what, with modern communications equipment, your job can be done ANYWHERE in the world. You are paid too much to do too little. All I hear is how much Bill Oreilly, Bill Maher et.al. make. If the networks were smart they would move the studios to Singapore and wipe out these over compensated freaks.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.” – Marcus Aurelius

Initial glance at that first paragraph...

I thought it said COMMUNIST Workers of America. Reading the rest of the article it seems I wasn't too far off in my initial impression.

The 99%?? With outrageous salaries???

Submitted by Mary Louise Turner on Fri, 06/22/2012 - 9:22am.

How on earth could this wacko union said that they are the 99%? Many of its members make salaries that are more in line with A-list movie stars than ordinary workers!

99 Percent wrong.

Submitted by CobraMan on Fri, 06/22/2012 - 1:46pm.

I hate to break this to you, CWA, but 99 percent of the working population aren't member of your union. That makes you the 1%.
