Please pay no attention to the evidence right outside your windows! Despite the fact that we are experiencing the coldest weather in decades, Kevin Grandia blogging at the Huffington Post wants you to ignore this and start worrying about the growing trend of global warming skepticism. According to Grandia, questioning the holy theology of the Church of Global Warming is a seriously disturbing heresy. He even catalogued the increased levels of global warming skepticism by analyzing Google search stats in excruciating detail:
Our 2008 analysis of global warming misinformation finds that there was a very significant upswing in online activity.
This trend should be troubling to US policymakers and campaigners wanting to implement new greenhouse gas reduction strategies.
Here's the stats I've generated as evidence of my conclusions:
"Global Warming" hoaxA Google blog search for the term "global warming" hoax between January 1, 2008 and January 1, 2009 reports 49,719 page results. The same search for the previous year reports only 22,077 page results.
Eeek! The number of global warming thought crimes more than doubled in just a year. Grandia continues to give us more "grim" Google statistics about this growing heresy:

A Google blog search for the term "global warming" skeptic between January 1, 2008 and January 1, 2009 reports 73,956 page results. The same search for the previous year reports only 38,346 page results. Fancy graph.
Outside of a small band of ideologically motivated outlets, the majority of the mainstream media is unwilling to cover the nonsensical junk science of the right-wing think tanks and their cadre of scientists for hire. With this the case, the Internet is exploding with such information. And at the same time that we're seeing significantly more of this misinformation being spread about global warming online, we're also seeing more people than ever using the Internet as their main source of news and information.
But..but Kevin. How can we keep the majority of mainstream media, who are in the tank with you over global warming, from preventing their weather people from delivering reports about the record cold temperatures? Grandia delivers more sad news about why the global warming ideology is crumbling:
Here's some recent findings that should trouble anyone working to implement new laws to reduce greenhouse gas emissions:
1) The Internet is now a larger source of news for people than newspapers.
Research conducted in December, 2008 by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press found that the Internet is now used as a news source by more Americans than newspapers. The report found that: "for the first time in a Pew survey, more people say they rely mostly on the Internet for news than cite newspapers (35%). Television continues to be cited most frequently as a main source for national and international news, at 70%."
2) Millions of people are seeking global warming information online.In an average month more than 2.2 million people in the United States search for the term "global warming" on Google and another 368,000 people search for the term "climate change." The more climate misinformation that is posted on the Internet, the more likely that people searching for information on global warming will be exposed to it. In fact the number 2 search result for "global warming" on Google is currently a website run by the thoroughly discredited Competitive Enterprise Institute.
Gasp! How dare people search for global warming information on their own outside of the reliable mainstream media which continues to support this climatic notion despite evidence to the contrary! Grandia concludes that in order to combat the growing global warming skepticism, more propaganda is going to have to shoved down the throat of the public:
If this is going to be the year that we have the political leadership in the United States with the will to take real action on climate change, we're all going to have to double, or even triple our efforts to dispel the myths and lies being spread online about the realities of the situation.
Of course, in order to promote the global warming ideology, Grandia might want to start by silencing Harold Ambler who wrote this incredible heresy in his own Huffington Post:
Mr. Gore has stated, regarding climate change, that "the science is in." Well, he is absolutely right about that, except for one tiny thing. It is the biggest whopper ever sold to the public in the history of humankind.
So the first place to send in the global warming Thought Police would be right there in the Huffington Post. In fact, Kevin Grandia might want to send some of the comments on his own Huffington Post blog down the Memory Hole:

The 2007 United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is not nearly as impressive as the name sounds. They have thrown out all conflicting data with their theory, and most have a political agenda of a one world government run by the United Nations.
No scienties doubts that global warming and global cooling exist. It is fact that there has been periods of warming and cooling in earths past due to ice core data and other types of research. What no one can truly claim is that this warming....possibly cooling phase now is man maid. Seeing as how the earth has been warming up and cooling down for as long as it's been a planet i'm going with a natural reason.
I tend to suspect apocalyptic theories because of their great popular appeal, particularly ones that make human beings culprits in our own demise. For me the jury is still out on global warming, and the internet will continue to be a source of information pro and con. I"m a skeptic rather than a dissenter.
Over 650 dissenting scientists from around the globe challenged man-made global warming claims made by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ( IPCC ) and former Vice President Al Gore. This new 231-page U.S. Senate Minority Report -- updated from 2007"s groundbreaking report of over 400 scientists who voiced skepticism about the so-called global warming "consensus" -- features the skeptical voices of over 650 prominent international scientists, including many current and former UN IPCC scientists, who have now turned against the UN IPCC. This updated report includes an additional 250 ( and growing ) scientists and climate researchers since the initial release in December 2007. The over 650 dissenting scientists are more than 12 times the number of UN scientists ( 52 ) who authored the media-hyped IPCC 2007 Summary for Policymakers.
And remember, Kevin, the above replies to your blog were made on that dreaded Internet where you ironically posted your complaints about using the Web as a source for climate information.

We do not have enough knowledge to be able to guess which way it's going to go except for an 80% accuracy rate 3 days out for local weather. We do not have enough computing power to flesh out Chaos theory and run all the permutations that can effect climate on a regional, much less a global, scale. And even if we did, there is no way to predict what unknown and unpredictable event (like a volcano) will happen and change the entire "equation".
These global warming accolites are fools, and worse, their going to cause major problems due to unintended consequenses by trying to affect something that is WAY beyond their understanding.

As the population has been dumbed down by the Teachers Union the results are in. We are now in the middle of one of the biggests scams in history. Look at Al Gores bank account. He seems to be doing very well selling carbon offsets for a non-problem.
The normal condition on this planet climate wise is cold. The entire history of measurable climate is this way. Ice Ages are normal and small periods of warming break up the normal Ice Age conditions. This is why life started near the equatorial zones and not above or below the tropics.
Warm is good, cold is bad. You can grow more food when it is warm. I pray for global warming becuase the outcome will benifit the entire population of the earth.

We are supposed to believe that the contribution by Humans of a meager 3% of the total ( 0.035%) of a TRACE gas in the atmosphere is the PRIMARY driver of temperatures on this planet, but we are told to discount the energy input of THE SUN, and the actions of the Oceans and their temperature oscillations: on a planet that is covered in 70% water. (97% of that in the Oceans)
To put it another way, the atmosphere contains 383 ppmv of CO2. Of that amount, humans are responsible for 12 ppmv, and it's that 12 ppmv that is the sole reason that the Earth has warmed since 1850. Not the influence of the Sun, or the Oceans, or Volcanoes, or even the GIANT radioactive, Ultra-hot MOLTEN core of the planet... nooo. It's the 3% of the 0.035% that man makes that runs the show. Sound logical to you? Here's a couple of other things that we must take as gospel if the Alarmists are right: (Taken from HERE)
a) That despite the fact of a historically very active sun there was no solar warming in the latter half of the 20thCentury.
b) That despite 30 years of anomalous ocean warmth the oceans were not the cause of atmospheric warming (but it is accepted that recent ocean cooling is the cause of recent atmospheric cooling).
c) That the Arctic has only warmed because of AGW and not as a side effect of warmer oceans flowing into the Arctic Circle or warmer air currents that cycle through.
d) That although warmer oceans release CO2, the observed increase in CO2 is all or mostly our fault.
e) That a warmer surface increases the surface/space temperature differential, yet does not give rise to a significant increase in loss of energy to space.
f) That models which are abject failures in predicting changes in global temperature trend should be used to inform policy decisions up to 100 years hence.
g) That the current cooling (10+ years and going strong) is weather but the earlier warming (19 years, ending 1998) was climate.
Makes sense, ya?

January 16, 2009 - 14:23 ET by CobraManThink it through. ALL average temperatures, short term or long, should be affected by a general, or global, warming trend, correct? If Global Warming was occurring, those "short term" temperatures should be averaging HIGHER, not lower.
In other words, the lowest average temperature of any given spot should be HIGHER this year than last year, which would be higher than the year before that, etc. That was the basis that the "climate scientists" were using to "determine" that "global warming" was occurring, correct? They observed an increase in the average temperatures for several years and compared them to the average temperatures of 100 years ago, right?
Since the average temperatures they observed in the modern times were HIGHER than those of the past, they reasoned that the global climate must be increasing in average temperatures and that we were in a warming trend, correct? They used those observations and predicted that this warming trend was going to continue and that we were actually making it worse by adding to the "greenhouse gasses" in the atmosphere, thus trapping the increasing warmth, and creating a feed back cycle, one that, if unchecked, would lead to a "runaway greenhouse effect" and kill us all. That IS what they were telling us, right?
Now, let's look at what's actually happening to our global climate: We were told that the average temperatures were climbing when compared to 100 years ago (the baseline standard for long term trends) and that this increase was NOT going to stop unless we DID SOMETHING to stop it. Yet, we haven't done ANYTHING to stop this supposed increase, correct?
Now, for the last several years, the averages temperatures are DROPPING and not rising, as we were told to expect, even though we didn't DO ANYTHING to stop "global warming." Today's climate MATCHES that of 100 years ago, which was the baseline standard that the "climate scientists" were using to determine that "global warming" was occurring. In other word, by the scientist's own standards, any "global warming" trend that was observed over the last 100 years has been reversed and we now are in line with the "standard" climate model of 100 years ago. Global warming has stopped, by the scientist's OWN baseline standard.
Not to worry though, says the "climate scientists," as this cold spell is just a short term trend, correct? But this is NOT a short term trend. It is a LONG term trend. How do I know this? It's simple, our climate now matches the baseline standard for long term trends, that of 100 years ago. The "average" climate today is the same as it was 100 YEARS ago, the baseline standard! Howe can THAT be described a s a "short term" trend?
Just how long does a trend need to be before it become 'long term" or baseline? An, if that baseline standard for long term trends changes, should the "climate scientist" now be forced to recalculate their equations as to reflect this new standard?

Besides, anyone with an ounce of BRAINS knows that it is the SHORT TERM TRENDS that are averaged together with others from different regions to make the LONG TERM TRENDS. So saying that the short-term patterns have nothing to do with long-term trends is like saying that if I have 12 data points averaged together and I add a 13th data point to that average it doesn't have any effect on the whole. Wrong. Go back to 5th grade and retake your mathematics. My 11 yr old son could out calculate you.

AGW Alarmist Alert!
January 16, 2009 - 16:10 ET by Army BratHere in Alaska we3 have a phenomenon known as, "Chinook winds". The winds are not only in Alaska but all over the US.
Warm winds that occur in mid-winter can raise the temperature 80 or 90 degrees as happened when I was a 5 or 6 year old growing up in Anchorge Alaska. One day it was 30 below, the next day it was 60 above. It stayed that way for 2 weeks. All the snow melted, grass grew, trees put out leaves. Then one morning I got up to 30 below. That was around1961 or 2.
We are experiencing those winds now. The temperatrure here in Wasilla is 45 above right now and the wind is gusting to 55. Gust of 100 have been felt in Anchoragfe on the Hillside and on Turnagain Arm.
In reporting on it last night on the KTBY 9:00 O'clock news, Trill Gates, the head talking head there, had the words, "Climate Change" on the screen while talking about the ongoing Chinook winds. Somehow, I knew that someone would point to Chinook winds and say, "Climate Change/AGW". I just didn't expect it to come from a local channel.
I wrote her and asked her to please explain the relationship between Chinook winds and Climate Change. We'll see.....

January 16, 2009 - 19:05 ET by CobraManHere in Minnesota, we get what's referred to as the January Thaw where the temps get up into the 60's for a week or two. So far, we haven't had our thaw, but I'm still hopeful. I have no doubt that people like AG will use this as proof of global warming.
BTW, we used to call it "Indian Summer," but I guess that to politically incorrect nowadays.

I always thought global warming would be like in the movie Soylent Green...silly me, just a movie.
If you haven't, check out the episode in James Burke's Connections (or his book or any historical source) on the mini ice age during the Middle Ages. That, of course, was centuries before the Industrial Revolution.
Then there were the unusually cold winters when Napoleon was in Russia in 1814, and later 1944, 1983, etc. interspersed with unusually warm weather in other years. As far as I know, we have no real explanation for those cold 'snaps' and other anomalies. But, they're just oh so sure it's because of man made CO2 emissions...that is, if one actually believes the 'data' Gore presented anyway.
Lessee, first the Ozone layer hoax, now this...what's the anti-modern society disaster du jour of the future I wonder?
