Romney Scolds Reporter: 'Aren't There' Important Issues 'You'd Like to Talk About?' 'Economy?' 'Jobs?'
With the economy stalling and unemployment stubbornly above eight percent, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is getting sick and tired of answering questions about social issues.
On Wednesday, when he was barraged with questions about such earth-shattering issues as legalizing marijuana and in-state tuition for the children of illegal immigrants, Romney scolded his interviewer, "Aren't there issues of significance that you'd like to talk about? The economy? The growth of jobs? The need to put people back to work? The challenges of Iran?" (video follows with commentary):
In reality, the answer is "No."
Since January and the media's complicity in advancing the White House's contention that there's a Republican "war on women," the press have been doing everything in their power to distract attention from the vital issues facing the nation.
This was exactly the point I made to Don Lemon on CNN Newsroom Saturday:
"Three weeks ago, Reuters/Ipsos did a poll asking for people's top priority in this election. And 53 percent said jobs and the economy, fourteen percent said health care, nine percent said family values. Nowhere in this mix was gay rights issues.
"I think the reason why we're talking about this, and the reason why it has exploded on Mitt Romney is because the economy is terrible, the Obama administration, the Obama campaign don't want to talk about the economy. They want to talk about extraneous issues, and conceivably important ones, but not issues that the public are extraordinarily concerned with."
Days later with the President flipflopping on the same-sex marriage issue, it now seems a metaphysical certitude we're going to spend at least another week on this matter.
Anything to avoid talking about the elephant in the room.
The real question is whether or not the media can continue with this shameless misdirection right through Election Day.
Stay tuned.

Maybe -- just maybe -- if he keeps calling them out on this, it will make it more uncomfortable for them to keep doing it. They'll still try. But if he doesn't play along, that will go a long way.

Yes, Mitt and every Republican/Conservative must smack these idiots over the head when asked these questions.
Gay marriage? Response should be "And how is that going to put folks back to work?"
War on Women? Response should be "We have a double digit deficit and a Senate that refuses to pass a budget, why are you not asking why the Dims are so adamant to bankrupting the country?"
No more should we be sidetracked by the lapdog media. Keep pointing out how they are doing what some libs here in do (one poster in particular comes to mind), straining at gnats whilst swallowing elephants or in this case jackasses. :-)

Yes, he should point out how the media is failing to do their jobs by responding with questions that are vastly more important.

Translation - Romney doesn't care about and belittles children, minorities and people struggling with issues related to America's drug culture.

Question: "Should marijuana be legal?"
Answer: "That's a moot point since so many people are out of work because of Obama that they can't afford it, legal or illegal. Ask me something important."
Every question, and I mean EVERY question, should be answered in the context of Obama destroying this country and this economy.

"Right now several states are dealing with the issue of legal cannabis. Rather than make a federal issue of this when there are other more important matters for the nation, I'll let the various states' experiments play out without sending the AG and DEA in to stomp on them."
Maybe that's a little too 'Ron Paul' for Mitt, but everybody I know that wants to smoke marijuana already does, legal or not, and it shouldn't be an election issue..

Whatever happened to The Once's "laser-like focus on Jobs Jobs Jobs"?
The media is, of course, aiding and abetting Obama's bait & switch on the issues.
But as long as we have members of the Pesky Fact Club (Gary Hall, President) rudely reminding the media chatterers about what is truly the #1 issue in this election, the non-political news watchers will eventually get the message that the game is rigged.
NS, I'd like to offer you the position of Press Secretary for the Pesky Fact Club. Kindly inform the President of your decision regarding this offer.

That 'laser-like' focus on jobs went the same route as the 'not going to sleep' until the economy turns around, as well as the 'working tirelessly' to create jobs for the 'folks'.........................plus, let's not forget about the myriad of 'economic summits' and 'employment conferences' and 'job workshops' and the rest of that bla bla bla bla that came from Boy BlahBlah.
As we well know, Boy Baraka is NOT interested in improving the job situation or the economy, inasmuch as he can get away with it and still not have it hurt his re-election chances..................and fortunatly, for him, the MSM and StateRun Media continue to showcase ANY subject that will deflect and detour any discussion or awareness of the 'real' issues....................and 'gay marriage' is NOT an important issue, as well as any number of other ones that we keep getting shoved down our throats.
I hope Romney learned something from Newt during this primary season, and I hope he continues to lay it on the line to these idiotic 'news people'.

This was all predicted, Barky's mafia media minions are going to relentlessly ignore his record and focus on the trivial in their effort to trip Mitt up, in hopes of magnifying, and then exploiting any gaffe they feel the former governor may make. I hope Mitt keeps throwing it back in their faces.

Romney should just run "against the media" and ignore Obama altogether. If Obama starts complaining about Romney ignoring him, Romney should just say "What's the difference?"

Don't forget, we were recently told that Romney will not "control" the debate in America, and this is just more proof of that. Obama, the "incumbent" will be "controlling" the "debate" this year, with the help of a willingly compliant MSM, of course.

Mitt vs the MSM~
Submitted by GG_NB on Thu, 05/10/2012 - 12:05pm.
Really, if Mitt stays disciplined and savvy on how to combat the media hijinks (many good ideas on this thread), it could even work to his benefit. I hope he has a really good team in place on anticipating each and every media trick and that he practices a lot on how to handle it. I think he has it in him -- he's no dummy -- but the harder part may be for him not to lose his temper beyond what would look bad in MSM selected news clips (many times taken out of context, of course). I don't see Mitt as someone with a bad temper problem, but we know he can get irritated (and who wouldn't, dealing with the MSM), so it is a fine line to walk.
But awareness and preparing seem key to dealing with the liberal media. He needs real experts -- PR, psychology, etc. to outwit, outlast and outplay the MSM. And sometimes just not talking to some of the MSM (the more ridiculous ones who would only detract from, not enhance Mitt's message) may be the way to go. I think the majority of Americans see through the MSM tactics, so if he plays it right, he could be okay.

They've taken a positive stand on supporting marriage for homosexuals! We realize now we have been judging them unfairly all this time!
