Maher Defends Limbaugh: 'He Apologized, Liberals Looking Bad Not Accepting'

By Noel Sheppard | March 06, 2012 | 23:01

Here's something you probably thought you'd never see.

Vulgarian Bill Maher Tuesday actually came out on Twitter in defense of - wait for it! - conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh:

Hate to defend #RushLimbaugh but he apologized, liberals looking bad not accepting. Also hate intimidation by sponsor pullout

— Bill Maher (@billmaher) March 7, 2012

So, why do you think he did this?

In the wake of the Limbaugh-Sandra Fluke controversy, Maher's coming under a lot of pressure from conservative groups for his vulgar attacks on women.

Despite his claim Friday that he's different from Limbaugh because he doesn't have any sponsors, he knows this is nonsense.

HBO makes money from subscriptions, and it's far easier for such patrons to directly make their negative opinions known to a company than in a traditional boycott. You call up your cable provider and drop the channel. Simple.

As such, one gets the feeling there may have been a lot of that lately in response to advertisers dropping Rush.

Just as Limbaugh likely started getting pressure from stations and his advisers before his apology Saturday, you can bet Maher has been told by people inside HBO and business managers that he needs to put his finger in this dike before it explodes all over him.

Maher's probably beginning to realize that if Limbaugh continues to lose sponsors and stations, he'll come under even more pressure which could force HBO to dump him.

Take it from someone that watches Maher almost every time he's on television - this man hates Rush Limbaugh. He'd only be defending him to prevent financial loss. Period!

And, if this tweet doesn't stop the bleeding, there might be something more closely resembling a real mea culpa in the days to come.

Stay tuned.

Once again, Maher proves he doesn't know anything about politics. This isn't about what Rush said, it's about the political mileage that the Democrats can get from beating him over the head with their PC sticks. And, since when did liberals care about looking bad when they have a media that will never demand any standards from them.

Speaking of flipping, we need to flip this!

Submitted by neutron on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 9:25am.

The Libs are contacting Rush advertisers and telling them that they won't buy the products.

Rush supporters need to contact those advertisers who have quit advertising on the EIB Network, and tell them that they will never get another purchase from a Rush supporter.

Rush supporters need to contact the advertisers who have stayed with Rush, and tell them that it is appreciated, and then go out an buy some of their stuff!

I didn't know that Sargento cheese and Johnsonville brats were part of the Koch brothers' companies, but when the unions in Wisconsin told me in their bitch/whine fest, I made sure to buy only those brands when buying cheese and brats. I need to find out who is still loyal to Rush and support them.

Submitted by killa37 on Tue, 03/06/2012 - 11:15pm.

I'm thinking that Donkeyface was starting to get a little paranoid about all of these comparisons to Rush, and the fact that he might possibly be called upon to debate Rush, or be held to a higher intellectual standard - due to these comparisons and publicity. And even a jerk like Donkeyface knows that he's not in the same ballpark, much less the same league, as El Rushbo, and he wouldn't be able to stand up to 1/10th of what Rush knows!!! So, whether he wanted to or not, he needed to get himself out of the crosshairs of comparison...........and he did so by basically throwing his audience under the bus...............but they were allready a bunch of idiots, so what's the difference. Maher is basically interested in self-preservation.

Too little too late to save his own hide.

Submitted by drsamherman on Tue, 03/06/2012 - 11:34pm.

The problem with the left going after Rush Limbaugh for his comments on Miss Flake are that they rebound quickly to what their own pundits said about Sarah Palin, Laura Ingraham, Ann Coulter, Michele Bachmann and other conservative women. Fat Ed will probably try some ploy by focusing on other issues to deflect. Bill Maher is trying in his own incompetent, inept and indolent way to save his own behind. Those psychotics Malloy and Hartmann will probably try to condemn, but they are bigger misogynists than the other three combined. And lest we forget Queefie who is essentially banished to low end cable TV.

A good question for Ear Leader at a debate will be why he so quickly called Ms. Flunkie to play up Rush's mistake, while at the same time he said ZERO on liberal misogyny. He will have no place to go, and the teleprompter won't accommodate the Narcissist in Chief with a quick answer, unless a debate host from the mainstream media comes to his assistance.

Rush gives Rush a great opportunity to compare and contrast his words and context vs. theirs. (Maher, Schultz, Olbermann, Allen Grayson, Maxine Waters and the female Schultz named Debbie Wasserman, among many others.)

Rush wins that battle easily as he has illustrated over the last two days.

P.S. I read on Drudge that Carbonite's stock has plummeted since they stopped advertising on Rush's show.

Netflix and Limbaugh

Submitted by Liberallies on Wed, 03/07/2012 - 2:29pm.

Seen the light,

I just read that Netflix dropped Rush Limbaugh. I have Netflix, I am writing and calling to ask if this is true. If it is...I am dropping Netflix.

And i agree, the libs are much, much better organized than the Right.

Everyone here who has Netflix needs to call them, email them and drop their services if this is true. However, find out if it is true first. I had heard on ABC News that GEICO, AllState, Autozone had dropped him. When I conctacted them, since I use all three, all three informed me that they either had NEVER advertised on his show or had dropped him back before 2005.

So, call Netflix people and find out. I am doing it today!

I say....................to all of the countries that have their right hand out for money, and their left hand out with the middle finger extended............F**K YOU!!! But..............if you wanna be on OUR team, and have a similiar outlook and philosophy as it relates to world views, as we do.........then we will continue to help you, but you've got to be genuine and legitimate. There's a LOT of countries who DO 'hate' us (and ask me if I care) that we are continuing to fund and support..........and with the Boy Barry REGIME, it seems to be moooooooooooooooooooooslem countries, whose REAL objective is to destroy us!! Prove to me that I'm wrong, Irksome!!!

My theory is Maher never receives any response from the conservative public. Why egg him on? At most, Maher probably gets 100 deranged responses from fans every time he makes sexually implicit insults, begging for more. He is to political discourse what a bar stripper is to dance, and his audience is a mirror of himself; a cheap spectacle.
