Wasserman Schultz Says Calling Women Sluts Isn't Funny - Two Months After Doing Maher's Show
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), in response to the Rush Limbaugh-Sandra Fluke controversy, told the host of Meet the Press Sunday, "I don't know any woman in America, David, that thinks that being called a slut is funny."
This hysterically comes less than two months after the Florida Congresswoman appeared on vulgarian Bill Maher's HBO program Real Time (video follows with transcript and commentary):
REPRESENTATIVE DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ (D-FLORIDA): Then the other news in contraception this week was Rush Limbaugh criticizing a young law student who stood up and said, look, at Georgetown Law School, not only am I required to pay for my own health insurance because Georgetown Law requires all students to pay for health insurance, but contraception's not covered. And what did he do? He called her a slut. A slut. And now I'm sorry, I know he apologized, but forgive me if I doubt his sincerity given that he lost at least six advertisers. And the bottom line is that the leading candidate on the Republican side for president couldn't even bring himself to call Rush Limbaugh's comments outrageous and call him out and ask him to apologize.
DAVID GREGORY, HOST: You're talking about Mitt Romney.
REP. SCHULTZ: Yes. Mitt Romney. What, what woman in America--and Rush Limbaugh, in that apology, said that he was trying to be humorous. I don't know any woman in America, David, that thinks that being called a slut is funny.
But Maher thinks that's funny and so do his fans.
On March 18, 2011, to cheers and applause, the host of HBO's Real Time called former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin a "dumb twat."
Then, according to the Dallas Voice, while performing at the Winspear Opera House nine days later, Maher called Palin a "cunt."
If slut is so offensive to Wasserman Schultz, shouldn't "dumb twat" and "cunt" also be?
Apparently not for on January 13, 2012, the Congresswoman appeared on Maher's HBO show.
I guess disgusting misogynistic terms are only inappropriate when directed at a liberal woman and just fine when said of a conservative, which perfectly illustrates the absurdity of the Left's outrage concerning what Limbaugh said about Fluke.
If Wasserman Schultz were really offended by Limbaugh's comments she would have been equally outraged by Maher's regular misogyny - as well as that of his audience! - and therefore would never go on his show.
But because he's a liberal that typically speaks her language and advocates for politicians and causes she does, he gets a pass.

I had never heard of the term until around 1980 and it was used by............a female. My Navy SEAL son was actually on Hawaii 5-0 recently, along with a few of his SEAL buddies - shooting up and blowing up some Mexican drug cartel. It's the only episode I've watched, since he called me up and told me to. Of course, they were all rigged up in their SEAL gear, so you couldn't see a damn thing - and it was filmed to simulate the 'night vision'. Which is too bad, because my son is better looking than any of the stars of the show - and also bigger and stronger!!! Hahahahaha!!!
Actually, I know another guy who is a regular on 5-0..............he's a local guy, not bad looking, with curly hair and a lot of tattoos, and I think he plays a bad guy in some various episodes - he's kind of a semi-regular on the show. I've known him since he was a kid - I used to babysit him. He WAS a bad guy, actually, in his earlier days..........but he has done a lot to turn his life and attitude around, and seems to be doing OK these days. He used to live on this island, but he's over there in the big city anymore - but once in a while I see him here, when he comes to visit his kids or his aunt, who happens to be my barber/stylist. (Well, I don't know what to call it - she's been cutting my hair forever - since those kids were little - but she works in a womens beauty salon, and that's where I go to get my hair cut). His own mother, who I knew well, drowned in a big flash flood over here a number of years ago, unfortuatly, and he didn't really have a father who was around - hence his journey into trouble and problems.

Well, I've heard from all the girls, for all these years, what a super handsome guy he is, so that's my criteria. In fact, when he was a teenager, he got a couple of modeling gigs - easy money - but he didn't want to do it anymore, because he said it was 'gay'!! (Did I mention that he's super macho?? Well, you've got to have that to become a SEAL, right?? And he has done some professional MMA fights, and trains with some seriously serious guys - and his face is still flawless!!) But, since he's my son, I know too much about him - hahahahaha!!! I'd be happy to show you a picture, just in case you wanted to compare him to your own heart-throb of choice!! And don't shut down your imagination, Ms. Rad - it can get you through some tough times!!!
You're right about the mom/dad thing. I LOVED being a father - although sometimes I hated it too - but I always wanted to at least be some kind of constant and consistant in their lives, and according to both of my sons, I guess I did allright - and so did their mom. And even though my 'job' as a 'papa' to my lovely Hawaiian grandson is to spoil him - I treat him the same way that I treated my sons, and that includes telling him when he's wrong, or acting up, or doing any other typical kids activity. And I talk to him 'man to man', because he is a smart boy and he understands a lot, and remembers EVERYTHING!!!

Just let me know if your son is on 5-0 again. (I'm not sure the hubby would understand if I was looking at pictures of other guys) I never miss it. I also love Hawaii, so I live vicariously through the show. I read Michener's book about it when I was about 12 and fell in love with the islands.
You're only parenting correctly if you hate it sometimes. I'm nowhere near being a grandmother yet, despite the government not buying my daughter the pill...But I know that will be easier, cause you can send them home when you've had enough. But it's getting easier for me, my son is almost 22 and my daughter is 20. she's on a mission trip to Jamaica for her spring break so she'll see what POOR really is. Nothing like seeing what really poor people are like and then coming back here and seeing that poor people have five flat screen t.v.s Sorry, my husband just told me a story about a HUD tenant having 5 big flat screens when we just bought our first and only flat screen...

My older son was hard - I guess it was payback to me, but I took exception to the way he treated his mom sometimes.......and his son has a really nice and pleasant personality, but I told him he deserved some payback, and he owns up to it these days!! My younger son was easy, because he has always been super motivated to do well at everything, and he doesn't have time for trouble or problems or drama or that type of thing that happens when the kids are younger. But, jeez - he's a grown-up these days, and a professional, and sharp as a razor - and you DON'T want to match wits or brains with him if you're not ready for it!! He's resentless, and he suffers NO fools!!
Oh - yeah - my son said it was super boring and tedious being at the soundstage for hours and hours, only to have about a one minute segment in the show. He wasn't impressed, although he said the directors treated the SEAL guys well, but treated the rest of the extras like dogmeat......................wonder why??? Hahahahaha!!!

My daughter is getting better. She really loves me when she's away at school. At home....not so much. But that's o.k. because it'll motivate her to be independent. My son is going to take a bomb to move out of here. He's got issues, but he's the typical Italian guy who thinks living at home with mom and dad is just fine. My husband was like that too, I persuaded him otherwise. Sometimes being a good Catholic girl can get herself a husband being a good Catholic girl ;)

Ahhhh Blonde - I'm beginning to feel sorry for this poor guy - he's got three heavyweights (and I'm NOT talking bodies here!!) all over him like white on rice..............and he's not sure how to deal with it. I know as a personal fact that sometimes it's really hard to just apologize and shut the hell up.............it's a guy thing, I guess. It takes experience, attention,and knowing how to 'pick your battles'..........
But then again, I love it when threads go haywire!!! It's much more entertaining than anything on TV - and my TV is broken anyhow,and it's stormy and rainy all day over here in Asia too, so I'm a little antsy from being inside all day!!!

I won't go near the ocean until it cleans up - I did 6 days in the hospital a few years ago with some flesh-eating bacteria that could have killed me - whenever I see the brown water from the rivers, I just remember how hideous that was on me!!! But I did surf last night, because it was really good - but I had to paddle through the river to go in and out (the ocean water out on the reef is OK)...........and when I got home, I took a long hot shower and cleaned myself very well!!! There are all sorts of dangerous organisms and germs and virus' and infections in that dirty water, and I NEVER want to go through that again!!!

The issue here is no longer about my post being deleted (believe me, I would have never made that post, seeing what's come after).
What it's about, is sensing a self-appointed forum monitor, who wanted to put me in my place like some newbie. I've been here too long to be marched to the office. Subsequently, all the "or else" threats have only made me more annoyed at their preceived royal status. I don't really care how much everyone is scared of certain members. The battle has become whether I kowtow to someone, just because they demand it.
The apology was made for the original offending post, but they can't help themselves from getting the last word in (a clinical condition, I think), and that pi$$es me off.
