Andrew Sullivan Says He Had An Orgasm When Sarah Palin Tweeted About His Newsweek Article

By Noel Sheppard | January 17, 2012 | 17:32

Noel Sheppard's picture

As NewsBusters reported Tuesday, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin was quite displeased to find out that Trig Truther Andrew Sullivan actually had an article published on the cover of Newsweek with the headline "Why Are Obama's Critics So Dumb?"

During an online chat about the piece Tuesday, Sullivan told participants that he had an orgasm when he saw Palin's tweet (vulgarity warning):

Comment From Mike D: Palin called you a "conspiracy kook" and blasted Newsweek for allowing you a cover. Do you ever worry that your more controversial views will overshadow your other writing?

Andrew : No. Palin's tweet made me come in my pants. I write what I think is true. I don't give a damn about "reputation." If I'm wrong I correct or re-think. Once a writer worries about these things, he's like an actor watching the audience. In my opinion, far too many journalists worry about their reputation.

That wasn't his only vulgarity during the chat. He dropped at least two f-bombs.

Classy guy representing Newsweek, dontcha think?

I can't believe that Todd Palin has gone as long as he has without pounding the poo poo out of some of these people who come after his family in such a personal way.

His wife is a politician, and can expect to be savaged by the cowards who make up the Democrat Party, but his kids aren't.

He needs to call these bastards out and invite them to meet him anytime, anywhere and say it all to his face. I'm betting that not one of them would show up, and that will tell the public something about them.

Sullivan -- No-Class Act in a Low-Class Sideshow

Andrew : "No. Palin's tweet made me come in my pants. I write what I think is true. I don't give a damn about "reputation." If I'm wrong I correct or re-think."

If that's so, I don't recall Sullivan ever retracting his claim that Sarah Palin's son Trig was actually her daughter's baby, which was dispelled when the biologically-negating evidence of Bristol's own pregnancy was announced.

As for his ejaculation reference, it would appear that personal conversations with Sullivan are like talking to an adolescent.

Note --- this is coming from a man who said he's a "true social conservative", who says he's only in favor of same-sex marriage because he thinks its pro-family, who says he tried to live according to conservative values but realized that denying his sexual orientation made him miserable.

Being vulgar in a public forum like that, I can't believe a word he says.

Given that EVERY actor who's ever trod the boards has literally lived for the audience's reaction, I think Sullivan's admission is quite telling. He writes everything he writes for the purpose of massaging his own ego with the kudos of his readers. Apparently, he's a literary masturbator as well. How congruous.

Putting on my white coat for a second.

Submitted by drsamherman on Tue, 01/17/2012 - 7:47pm.

Having looked at Andrew Sullivan's behaviors, conversations and actions over the past few years, I could not but make a few observations purely from a psychiatric point of view:

1) To a large extent, his obsession of Palin seems driven by a single factor, namely Trig's birth. As all of you may recall, he was out of the gate with the charges that Trig was really Bristol's child and Sarah had feigned pregnancy to cover for her then-teenage daughter. He used his well known medical expertise to such extent that phrases like "she did not look pregnant", "why would she travel when that close to delivery" and "her staff did not know" became part of his usual responses about her. Whether these were his original lines or he simply parroted another liberal, or even if he was talking about her political viewpoints in general, the focus of his attention remained Trig. A relevant issue is why he was so obsessed with Trig to start. It is an obsession, which is by definition a fixed, false idea that goes beyond the dimensions of a delusion to the point where it interferes with otherwise normal functioning. Slowly there is a compulsion being formed, which is by definition a repetitive act which similarly interferes with otherwise normal function. He is not quite compulsive on the Trig issue yet, but give it more time and he will be.

2) He has always claimed that he does not care what critics think, yet he vociferously attacks anyone who criticizes his positions. He seems a trifle too concerned with people accepting his opinions without question, and certainly without opposition to them. In the context of being a political commentator, the discordance is glaring. By nature, politics is an arena of disagreement and vastly differing opinions. It is also gladiatorial in its nature as to how those disagreements unfold, are revealed and either quickly disposed of or simply fade away in irrelevancy. As he has been in the political arena so long, the criticism and vitriol he brings against even those of similar political philosophy to his (certainly not the conservative he has been labeled) is, as I have stated, discordant with his protests that he really does not care about what his critics think. He would not invest such time going after them if he really was apathetic of criticism.

3) He proudly wears the conservative mantle so long as he goes on Bill Maher or other liberal programs to badmouth what conservatives do, and in particular Republicans. I don't remember ever hearing or seeing or reading any positives on his part towards conservatives or Republicans. There is no reconciliation between how he loves to wrap himself in the conservative label yet he certainly displays zero philosophical agreement with any recognized conservative leader outside of the media. Would Andrew Sullivan even pretend to be in agreement with the likes of Paul Ryan or Jonah Goldberg? No. The conservative label is more like camouflage so he can be part of the transparent liberal strategy of saying see even a "conservative" agrees with us.

In short order, I find Andrew Sullivan to be someone with a high degree of mendacity, narcissism and a touch of sociopathy as witnessed by his obsessions with Sarah Palin. I also find him to be a hypocrite, because he would defend a liberal woman's privacy to the death while he would not accord a conservative woman the same right.

Were I a Freudian, which I must say I am NOT, I would also ask why a gay male is so obsessed by a straight woman's reproductive status. I might also ask why he seems so genitally-compulsive, but that is another story.

As an HIV patient, Sullivan

Submitted by stratman on Tue, 01/17/2012 - 11:48pm.

As an HIV patient, Sullivan is susceptible to neurological damage even if his viral loads are held in check with antivirals regimens. I have no idea if he is classified as having AIDS, but that would not help him neurologically. Sullivan's mentation could be affected currently or damaged by past Cerebral Toxoplasmosis, Cryptococcal Menengitis, Progressive Multifocal Leukencephaly and/or AIDS dementia complex for instance. But these may not explain Sullivan's vicious affect. He may of been this way before HIV infection.

As well as, of course, ejaculatus interuptus.

Submitted by stratman on Wed, 01/18/2012 - 2:25am.

You do know I am a physician. While I would not claim to know psychiatry and neurology to the extent of Sam's level, I won't dummy down on participating either. My post was complimentary to Sam's which he would understand, not a competing comment meant to negate him. In no way was I diagnosing. However, Sullivan seems like one pissed off guy that thinks the universe betrayed him and persists in misdirecting his anger onto others.

The take home message from my post is that long term HIV patients are at risk for neurological changes, none for the better, regardless of viral load. That is significant for our society given HIV patients are living longer lives and may require more services if their neurological status degrades.

On the other hand, both books written by The Alaskan Goddess rank far higher than any of the haters. That's got to be quite galling to the haters who make a living as writers.

Dumb and Dumber: Newsweek and Andrew Sullivan

Dumb and Dumber: Newsweek and Andrew Sullivan

It may be childish and immature to call someone or some groups dumb although most of us, myself included, have hurled the dumb epithet at one time or another. Personally, lately I've mainly confined my allegations of dumb, stupid, inept, incompetent, etc. to politicians and their lackeys and always with bases in fact.

It’s one thing in casual conversation to call someone or some group dumb when they have acted or spokenly stupidly–Barack Hussein Obama and the Occupy Wall Streeters come to mind. It’s quite another when a formerly-respected journalist and national periodical label an entire political movement “stupid.”

The author of the "stupid" label in this week's Newsweek, which the magazine changed to "dumb" in its headline, was Andrew Sullivan, the conservative turncoat and exceptionally hate-filled homosexual and unabashed Obama-idolator known for his vituperative language. Sullivan is known, too, for his committment to the hackneyed Blame-Bush ruse, pinning all this president's failures on the previous administration.

Still, for Newsweek to publish its weekly featuring the headline, "Why Are Obama's Critics So Dumb?" subtitled, "Andrew Sullivan on the Man with a Plan," is so far beyond the propriety pale that it suggests Sullivan has succumbed to dementia and that one of Obama's prime MSM publications has succumbed to bankruptcy and doesn't give a rat's ass what the public thinks of it.

Actually, Sullivan's dementia speaks for itself and Newsweek is on the verge of going belly-up. . .
