Scarborough Tells 'Terminally Stupid Ideologues' to 'Stop Using the Tea Party as a Piñata'
As NewsBusters reported Sunday, Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) set off a liberal firestorm when he called Standard and Poor's U.S. credit rating change the "Tea Party Downgrade."
On Monday's "Morning Joe," host Joe Scarborough told "terminally stupid ideologues" that "really don't understand" anything because they're "so dogmatic [they] can't think for [themselves]" to "stop using the Tea Party as a piñata" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
JOE SCARBOROUGH: So this is sort of my closed-caption for the terminally stupid ideologues out there that have just listened to what’s gone down for the past three minutes and you really don’t understand because you’re so dogmatic that you can’t think for yourself.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Alright, be nice.
SCARBOROUGH: I am not blaming the President exclusively. We have blamed the Tea Partiers here for not moving. We have blamed Republicans. We have blamed Democrats as well. But please – I know it makes you feel better, but, you know, stop using the Tea Party as a piñata. We’ve got systemic problems in this country. The President could have done something for two years when he had Democrats controlling the House of Representatives and controlling the United States Senate. He did nothing on entitlement reform.
Indeed.
What was marvelous about this segment was that Scarborough spoke some inconvenient truths to his co-host, guests, and viewers that few in the media dare.
In particular, with the help of charts provided by MSNBC economic analyst and former Obama administration car czar Steve Rattner, Scarborough demonstrated that the real problem in our budget is the unfunded liabilities associated with Social Security and Medicare.
He then went on to accurately note that contrary to the liberal media meme, the President really never offered cuts to such programs in his so-called "grand bargain" because no specifics were provided and nothing was put on paper.
More importantly according to Scarborough, Obama knew full well that Democrats in Congress would never have go along with any cuts to entitlement programs thereby making this "offer" a cynical one the President knew would never go anywhere.
In Scarborough's view, Republicans would have been wise to call the President's bluff, agree in principle to raising revenues, and then allow the entire deal to be scuttled by Democrat intransigence over Social Security and Medicare reform.
Instead, by Republicans backing away from the poker table with a clearly winning hand, the Democrats and the White House have been able to blame everything on them and in particular the Tea Party while demagoguing Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) for having offered the only budget that attempted to solve our long-term fiscal problems.
For those interested, this was a very informative discussion that should have happened on the Sunday talk shows but didn't because it would have interfered with the media's ability to blame the S&P downgrade on the Tea Party:

Left to his own devices, Scarborough tends to drift into that John McCain/Chuck Hagel "let's get attention for attacking conservatives" territory, but when reacting to some liberal dumbassery, he's almost always reliably conservative. It's like the stereotypical dysfunctional family that goes at each other hammer and tong when alone but bands together when anyone from outside goes after them.

Thank God some people can see through the BS. Doesn't change the fact that the TeaParty and Thomas Jefferson (to a lesser extent) are responsible for the shooting of Gabriel Giffords, the lunatic in Norway and other murderous madmen.(sarc)
Is there a word for an idealogical group that would blame figures in history for pulling the trigger in a mass-murder if cited in a manifesto, rather than the murderer? A group that would tag a segment of the population as being the equivalent as a killer for reading the same books or recognizing history or noticing that a problem is a problem? If not, there needs to be one. A little off-topic, I apologize, but I was searching for a definitive word for the wide-net of the lib-blame -machine and couldn't think of one.

It's so simple that I thought it was a trick question.
The word that best describes the above is "LIBERAL'.

That you are using a quote that refers to the nature of stereotyping to describe liberal's as stereotypists themselves while you yourself are guilty of exactly that practice!

Not exactly talking
Submitted by ant on Tue, 08/09/2011 - 12:06am.
Not exactly talking stereotypes here. My point is probably inchoate and poorly phrased. What I'm attempting to understand is this gem of liberal logic. For example, lunatic goes on rampage killing innocent people + it's discovered lunatic has talked about Thomas Jefferson or read 1984 + Tea Party admires Thomas Jefferson, Bachmann or other "enemy" has also read 1984 = TeaParty types are possible deranged killers too = Thomas Jefferson and George Orwell are no damn good = Maybe anyone who talks of Founding Fathers, Jefferson, the threat of a derelict, tyrannical, over-bearing government is insane and should be silenced/marginalized and , just maybe, we should review the appropriateness of people being allowed to read 'certain' things. This logic has been thrown out there, and it is this deliberately convoluted way of thinking that, I thought, should have a word of it's own.
BTW, this logic does not apply when someone on their "side" is ACTUALLY hanging out with domestic and islamic terrorists, racist haters, socialists and other idiots.
Ahhh
Submitted by hayate1 on Tue, 08/09/2011 - 8:48pm.
Sorry, I get ya now.
Whow is hanging out with terrorists? I know that a republican congressman ahs supported a terrorist group in the past and that a a group of prominent U.S. Republicans went to Paris this year to attend a rally of the French Committee for a Democratic Iran. This organization just happens to be intimately connected with the Mujaheddin-e Khalq (MEK).
And what is the MEK? It is an Iranian exile group, originally Marxist in ideology, that has been on the State Department’s list of terrorist organizations since 1997. And, our "prominent Republican" visitors knew of this connection – knew it and apparently were not put off by the fact at all.

The day of reckoning is coming. I hope the liberals keep on calling everyone names, and blaming everyone else, as people are now waking up to the assault on America from the Marxists.
I can't wait to see Mika's face then!!! I'm so sick of her eyerolling whenever anyone talks about the teaparty.

Joey Scarborough at last finally supports conservatives tentatively. Nevertheless, he relied on "former Obama administration car czar Steve Rattner" who regularly stated his far left opinions on 'Morning Joe' while Joey nodded approvingly. Today he finally took issue with Steve Rattner and progressives like Mark Halpern who still tried to defend Obama. And let's not forget Joey still blamed the 'Tea Partiers' while including Democrats and Republicans for his leftist audience. Thus, I'm not pleased with Joey and his sidekick, the Obama loving co-host, Mika.
