Maher: Palin 'Sells Patriotism Like a Pimp' and is 'Leader of a Strange Family of Inbred Weirdos'
As NewsBusters has been reporting, Friday's installment of HBO's "Real Time" contained possibly the most vile political talk ever aired on national television.
In the final segment, host Bill Maher said, "Sarah Palin is a vainglorious braggart, a liar, a whiner, a professional victim, a scold, a know-it-all, a chiseler, a bully who sells patriotism like a pimp, and the leader of a strange family of inbred weirdos straight out of 'The Hills Have Eyes'” (video follows with transcript and commentary):
BILL MAHER: And finally, New Rule: Republicans have to stop thinking up intricate psychological explanations for why liberals don't like Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann. Let me save you all some time. Are you ready? Because they're crazy people, people who are not that bright and full of awful ideas. Pretty much the exact same reasons we didn't care for George Bush and made jokes about him. So trust me, it's not because they have breast. It's because they are boobs.
Now, I'm not saying that sexism doesn't exist and isn't real. And we can’t, but we can't throw around the word "sexist" just to stop people like me from pointing out that Michele Bachmann, now running second for the Republican presidential nomination, isn't a dangerous nincompoop. And when I point out that Sarah Palin is a vainglorious braggart, a liar, a whiner, a professional victim, a scold, a know-it-all, a chiseler, a bully who sells patriotism like a pimp, and the leader of a strange family of inbred weirdos straight out of "The Hills Have Eyes,” that's not sexist. I'm saying it because it's true, not because it's true of a woman.
This came after: two of his guests talked about having violent hate sex with Bachmann and Rick Santorum; Maher compared Republicans to homocidal maniac Yasser Arafat, and; one of his guests said he wished Republicans "were all f--king dead."
Is this really what passes as civilized political discourse on HBO today?

but it must be a pretty big club that tunes into his show, otherwise I would think that HBO would have cancelled his show by now...The bottom line for HBO is ratings, which translates to money, and if Maher's show wasn't producing ratings, he'd likely be dumped. What concerns me is that there must be a sizeable number of fools out there who actually like and agree with Maher and his sick, twisted, hate-filled insanity...Who are these people and why do they think like this? Maher by himself is nothing...He is one unhinged lowlife on his own, but the fact that he has the number of fans/followers that he has, is very disturbing.

He's also free to have a television show that I find offensive to my sensibilities, there again we have freedom of speech in this country. I exercise my freedom by refusing to subscribe to HBO and I would encourage anyone else who's offended by Bill Maher to not subscribe also. Someone would call this a boycott, I prefer to say there are better ways to spend MY money.

Bill takes an ordinary American woman and trashes her every opportunity. She is a Christian, has a family, has a business to run, bills to pay, just like everyone else. Then, of a sudden, she finds herself in the middle of the political arena which has put her in the history books.
Other than her recent celebrity, she is basically just like millions of other patriotic American women. Those in the audience and Maher's fans fail to see that he has looked down from his snooty elitist nose at them as well. All this means is that he doesnt care very much for ordinary Americans anymore than he does Palin.

I'm sure NOW recognizes the unfair, misogynist treatment Maher is giving Palin, and are eager to step in and defend a woman falsely accused, right? Well, NOW has a section aptly titled "Media Hall of Shame", perfectly suited to point out how the Maher-types treat women. There are well over 50 specific examples of media-mistreatment there -- at least in the eyes of NOW, that is. What does it include? As you might suspect, Rush is listed. And Glenn Beck. But no Maher.
And what are they in an uproar about? Easy -- too many men in last February's Superbowl ads, for one. And "anti-abortion rights extremists" -- basically, anyone who is against abortion. But nothing is said against left-wing a$$holes like Maher, the entire MSNBC crew, and most everyone in the entire MSM who bash conservative women. Why am I not surprised?

His show, like porn, drugs or bad language, doesn’t deserve one second of my time and shouldn’t be a subject of conversation here. NB should know better.

Yes this can get tiresome but just ignore anything that seems to be redundant, just a polite suggestion. The constant liberal media garbage is not NB's fault for reporting it. It's the liberals hate and disdain for the wholesomeness of American society that is the real problem.

My argument is that Maher is not news but just a entertainer that will say anything for higher ratings and therefore not worthy to be mentioned here. At some point you have to separate what is news and what isn’t, even if its political in nature. He’s on HBO, not MSNBC or CNN for a reason. By reposting his dribble here and other conservative web sites it elevates his show to something it’s not worthy of. My guess is his ratings are not much higher than an infomercial on at 2am. NB needs to consider the source and move on.

Two things:
1) "My argument is that Maher is not news but just a entertainer..."
This site's stated mission and goal, as clearly present underneath the title in the masthead above (of this fabulously designed site :)), is to expose "Liberal Media Bias". It's not limited to just the news segment of today's media, but reveals how a vast majorty of the full mainstream media machine steadily wheels out and gives the soap box to any and all celebrities who embrace hateful leftist/"progressive" (oh, and /SOCIALIST/COMMIE) ideals and views.
2) "He’s on HBO, not MSNBC or CNN..."
Erm, negative. Check your local TV listings over the last few weeks and you'll see he was a guest on the primetime talk show Piers Morgan (CNN) the other night, on Jay Leno (NBC) probably a week earlier (as he's on that and many late-night talk shows quite regularly) and you'll probably see his name all over the place. They work tirelessly in an attempt to sell to the masses that he's relevant, along with scores of other dumber-than-rock liberal twits.

Submitted by dscott on Sun, 07/17/2011 - 1:45am.
Let me show you what Maher thinks is normal, mentally balanced, family oriented, respect for life, a paragon of truth... Behold, the face of evil who's mouth spouts lies like a slick tongued serpent, the messenger of death. This is Maher's idea of normalcy, advocating the withholding of medical treatment from the elderly whom in his judgment decided should no longer live because liberalism already bought their vote years ago and now no longer needs it. Here is the Death Panel Maher advocates that Palin warned against, and it is for this reason Maher vilifies Palin, because she uncovered the grotesque evil he rationalizes to the world to see.
This human piece of garbage actually has the brass to lay full blame of deficit spending upon the elderly. He has rationalized the genocide of the elderly. He has actually advocated that people shouldn't live as long as they do. And to cap off the outrageous proposition set forth, he then asserted medical science will never improve the quality of life for the elderly, namely when you and I no longer pay taxes, therefore medicine should no longer advance because it is too costly. Now we understand why Obama and the rest of his henchmen pushed the idea of preventative medicine, they have no intention of allowing anyone but the elites to have access to any life saving procedure in the guise of saving money for the masses.

I see Palin more as a rallying point for existing patriotism than anything else, and I frankly don't care if she makes money fighting political battles. After all, Bill Maher does. All of the columnists at the New York Times do. They just don't like the side she's fighting for, and for all of their posturing on tolerance, it is screeds like this that really expose their lack of tolerance for cultures dissimilar to their own.
She's not cosmopolitan and she hails from rural to small-town Alaska. Therefore she and her family are "inbred", eh? And he's saying it "because it's true". Really, Bill? 'Cause I'm callin' you on it.
I'm pretty tired of hearing opinions and even facts that run counter to the progressive narrative being called "lies".
So, Bill, show me where the Palins are "inbred". And then tell me what "lies" Palin has told, and tell me who she has bullied and how.
She doesn't agree with you, she doesn't talk like you, she doesn't have the same interests you do -- guess what, Bill? Welcome to "multi-culturalism".
