Ed Schultz: 'Gingrich Wants to Cut Food Stamps to Give Tax Breaks to Old White Millionaires'

Ed Schultz re-introduced his "Psycho Talk" segment on Monday after deciding in January to shelve the feature following the tragic shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) in Tucson.

This ended up being quite fitting, for earlier in the program, Schultz engaged in some psycho talk of his own accusing Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich of wanting to end the food stamp program "to give tax breaks to old white millionaires" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

ED SCHULTZ: Now as far as food stamps go, President Obama inherited, may we point out, an economic mess from President Bush that has led to a record number of Americans needing help just to put food on the table. Gingrich of course is hell-bent on election. He just wants to cut these 42, 44.2 million Americans who currently use food stamps to give tax breaks to old white millionaires. That’s his priority. If Gingrich has his way on food stamps, you know who it’s going to hurt? African-Americans, women and children, and millions of low-income families. The Republican Party still can’t win on issues so their only chance is to play the race card again.

Honestly, why are liberal media members so racist and so ignorant? As NewsBusters reported Sunday, there are more white people in America receiving food stamps than blacks.

As such, how can food stamps be some kind of racist code? As this is preposterous, isn't it Schultz and his ilk that are playing the race card again?

And is it really too difficult for folks like NBC's David Gregory, Salon's Joan Walsh, and Schultz to do some research to better understand the demographic breakdown of food stamp usage?

It took me just seconds on Google to uncover a 2005 study by the Carsey Institute at the University of New Hampshire which found that in rural areas, 53 percent of food stamp recipients were white as compared to 27 percent black. In urban areas, this breakdown was 34 percent white to 35 percent black.

Is it asking too much for major news organizations to do a little fact-checking before they make totally unqualified statements that falsely impugn the character of our nation's political leaders?

Yeah, I know - these aren't news organizations. They're left-wing advocates posing as news organizations.

And they should all be ashamed of themselves.

Yes, Mr Sheppard, it's too

Submitted by ant on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 12:15am.

Yes, Mr Sheppard, it's too much to ask. Why speak the truth when you can scare people into electing your people? And the fact that "news" channels (just made myself laugh typing that) actually unashamedly root for the Dems to have a never ending reign of power and will say anything to assure that, is despicable beyond words. My contempt for them is beyond words, so to answer 'tingles' accusations from another thread, yes, I hate them. Sorry, I do, I despise liars.

Flash: Old White Millionaires Start Businesses Create Jobs.

Submitted by Avitar on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 12:29am.

It does not have to be Old Whites of course. Herman Cain created thousands of Jobs as has Kathy Iseland. Even Billionaire George Soros who made his money in currency manipulations create jobs for people writing his hate filled rants.

Capital formation is the central concept of Capitalism. The current occupant of the Whitehouse is probably the first in generations who did not save enough to be responsible for one job before he moved in. I believe that when he moved in the financial disclosure said that their net savings and investments were worth $65,000. That is only about the capital required to create one macjob.

Anything in the higher end of the job market requires more capital.

MICHELLE cut food stamps!

Submitted by Annie Ashe Fields on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 5:08am.

She was even asked about it. I think the funding for Let's Move came out of the Food Stamp jar. They tried to make it like it was no big deal, because it was just "borrowed" but even HuffPo had a piece on it.

Does "I know NOTHING" Sergeant Schultz even EMPLOY anyone who can Google? Just one?

I'm confused " play the race

Submitted by LAM SON 719 on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 6:43am.

I'm confused " play the race card again"? How does "starving" blacks, women and children attract voters? "Inheriting" a problem somehow absolves obama from any responsibilty for it.

Ed Schultz " the stupidest man on TV, while others kick back, ed is constantly working to improve his craft.

Non, je ne regrette rien. "You aren't angry because I might be a racist, you're angry because you know I'm right".

The great thing about MSNBC and Schultz is... ta ta

Submitted by acaiguana on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 7:38am.

They don't matter anymore as the rest of the MSM do not matter.

When it comes to Gingrich we can safely say his was the shortest Presidential candidacy on record.

He is absolute toast.

And he did it all by himself.

Good riddance to another establishment Washington professional politician.

Correct ACA

Submitted by RESTLESS 1 on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 8:03am.

Did they really think Newt was going to win the nomination? They need to save those racist stones of theirs for someone who matters.

As an aside, can I breathe a small sigh of relief that Trump is gone as well?

Special Ed's at it again.

Submitted by RESTLESS 1 on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 8:02am.

Why is the left so racist? First, they believe only minorities are on public assistance, and now, as eddie here suggests, there are no black millionaires. What gives?

I guess those white hoods and old attitudes are to too near and dear the democrat's heart.

What's the algorithm, Ed?

Submitted by Cactus Kurt on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 9:24am.

I'd like to know Braindead Ed's algorithm for linking food stamps to tax breaks for "old white millionaires". Ed's convoluted logic seems to always have a racial aspect.

That is a flat humped back

Submitted by ricklail on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 9:32am.

That is a flat humped back lie about food stamps

As for playing the race card the brain dead hosts at MESSNBC do that all the time. I think it was Boortz the other day say that if you were debating a lib and they used the word hate, bash/bashing, or racist you had won the debate.

Schultzie is all wet on so

Submitted by Smartypants on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 10:57am.

Schultzie is all wet on so many levels, it is hard to point out. First, the idea that Obama "inherited" anything is absurd. His party was more responsible for the economic disaster which hit in late 2008 than was GW Bush. Of course, the media at large wants everyone to believe Bush alone created the catastrophe. This meme has been repeated so much it has become the truth. Also, the definition of leadership involves addressing and solving problems, not simply sitting back and stating "it's not my fault". Why elect any president who holds that mentality? Finally, the assumption that everything relating to Barack Obama has something to do with race is a racist attitude in and of itself. The media is playing this angle to the extreme.

Didn't Ed get the memo?

Submitted by Model850 on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 3:43pm.

Did no one at Ed's joke of a network forward to him the memo that Newt essentially is toast? Why is he wasting time demagoguing a candidate who has no chance of winning the nomination?

On second thought, keep Ed out of the loop. As long as he wastes time attacking Newt the other candidates can breathe a little easier.
