Roger Ebert and Joan Walsh Jump on David Gregory's Gingrich is Racist Bandwagon
NBC's David Gregory started a Newt Gingrich is racist trend Sunday that liberal media members across the fruited plain quickly embraced.
After the "Meet the Press" host accused the former House Speaker of racism for having the nerve to call Barack Obama "The most successful food stamp president in American history," Salon's Joan Walsh out in San Francisco jumped on the bandwagon as did Chicago film critic Roger Ebert:
Newt Gingrich doubled down on his clever new slur against President Obama as "the food stamp president." He tried the line in a Friday speech to the Georgia Republican convention, and he used it again on "Meet the Press Sunday." It's a short hop from Gingrich's slur to Ronald Reagan's attacks on "strapping young bucks" buying "T-bone steaks" with food stamps. Blaming our first black president for the sharp rise in food-stamp reliance (which resulted from the economic crash that happened on the watch of our most recent white president) is just the latest version of Rush Limbaugh suggesting that Obama's social policy amounts to "reparations" for black people.
But when host David Gregory suggested the term had racial overtones, Gingrich replied "That's bizarre," and added, "I have never said anything about President Obama which is racist." That's not quite as extreme or silly as Donald Trump declaring "I am the least racist person there is," but it's up there.
Ebert was easily duped by the stupidity on display and promptly tweeted his approval to his excessively impressionable followers:

It's of course not surprising that these brainiacs don't know there are more white people receiving food stamps than black people.
But hey - the Obama-loving media are on a roll accusing anyone that criticizes the current White House resident of racism, so why should they let anything like facts get in the way of their smear tactics?
They've never let that stop them before.

Newt 2012

Newt Gingrich probably taught courses that Obama would, then or now, fail miserably. This isn't racism, just fact.
Newt needs to go away.

No one supports him but Hannity.
And he's "bashing" Paul Ryan on MTP and giving the liberals talking points to use against Ryan? Newt says "we need to have a dialog about Medicare" and Ryan has a proposal and of course Newtie's dialog consists only of "My goodness, how extreme!"
Mark Levin is furious with Gingrich and don't get bewteen me and a radio tomorrow for the first half of Levin's show.

But I will defend Gingrich on his "food stamp" comment. Isn't it racist for these lib pundits to automatically assume that food stamps=black person?
We may as well get used to the racism charges. We've heard it since 2008, and it's ALL they have.

I didn't think Newt Gingrich's observation had any racist intentions before, but if Roger Ebert thinks so, well.....
Ebert and Walsh can go for it

Personally, I wouldn't want to draw the kind of ridicule they will suffer for this asburdity. If they don't mind looking foolish and further staining the Democrat brand, they're welcome to blather on. Publicly supporting dishonesty isn't very smart, but If they want to take one for the team that's OK by me. -bidn-
Advantage Gingrich. As long

Advantage Gingrich. As long as liberals continue to push "food stamp" president, that's fine with me. People see above their racial insinuations, and will be more curious as to why he would be called that. At the end of the day even I did not know 46 million Americans were on food stamps. 1 out of 6 people. That's alarmingly high, and speaks volumes.
Just like the liberals in the press trumped up the birther thing, and caused their own president damage, this will do the same.
indeed, wouldn't the racist

I could really care less, with all the naked racism from the Obama administration. What makes him uniquely unqualified, in my mind, is that he supports Obamacare's "individual Mandate" http://www.newsmax.com/Headline/gingrich-health-care-insurance/2011/05/1... That makes him a worthless sellout, a RINO, and unelectable to any conservative.

Newt Gingrich like Donald
Submitted by dscott on Mon, 05/16/2011 - 2:46am.
Newt Gingrich like Donald Trump is doing his part to pin negatives on Obama. The MSM realizes the danger of even more negatives than Obama already has and is reacting to this threat on their candidate of choice. Keep up the good work guys, stay useful, keep damaging him.
Not that Gingrich or Trump is going to get the GOP nomination in any event. De facto endorsing the individual mandate by Gingrich saying the Ryan Plan was too far was literally falling into the vat of sewage, you can't come out smelling like a rose after that little dip no matter how quickly one immerses themselves and gets out.
IF the MSM wants to totally burn up the race card on Trump and Gingrich, be my guest because now the public response has gone from the MSM and Dems looking silly to general apathy when the card is played. So keep playing the race card MSM, please, please keep playing it since by the time the GOP convention occurs, the public will only be hearing blah, blah, blah when you chant racist, racist, racist.
IF it is racist to repudiate the failed policies of liberals which Obama has totally wrapped himself in, then as far as the country is concerned there is no such thing as the KKK or the Aryan Nation, they are figments of the imagination dreamed up by manipulative liberals who have nothing to offer other than shame of the long distant past of the 19th and 20th Centuries. It's the 21st Century, we are over the Civil War, we are over the KKK and we are over the Aryan Nation. Democrats are the Party of the past, left behind celebrating the evils of the past and refusing to enjoy the fruits of the here and now much less the future. Yes, the Democrat Party celebrates the evils of the past as this is their only focus, the negatives. You can't be the new man if you cling to the old man, even you Communists should recognize this.

Maybe the Liberal jawbones like Ebert and Gregory hiyt on something here ... only in reverse.
Clearly, RACISM exists ... but I think much more on the LIBERAL side! The Liberals are all in a buzz because Newt used the term "food Stamps" ... and the fist thing the Liberals associated was BLACKS!
Now how is THAT for "word association"!

Charge: Republicans hate much of what Obama does because he is black.
Counter: No, Republicans would hate much of what Obama has done even if he turned white tomorrow. Obama's policies are bad for this country. Race is not the issue.
Or:
Charge: You called Obama the Food Stamp President. Since he is black aren't you being a racist?
Counter: NO, If the President turned white tomorrow the charge would still be true. 1 in 6 Americans are using food stamps, a record high number. The President's color has nothing to do with this fact.
I would always try to turn the argument back against the Racer Liberal by stressing if the President turned white tomorrow, such and such would still be true.
( Paychecks vs. Food Stamps. Newt's suggested theme to Republicans:
"Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich today published a memo to Republican candidates urging them to cast the Democratic Party as the party of food stamps while calling the GOP the party of paychecks.
Gingrich urged candidates to make that message their "closing argument" to voters in the final weeks of the election season.
"A closing argument is the central choice you want voters to have in mind as they head to the voting booths," Gingrich wrote. "It should be very simple and resonate at a personal, emotional level with the American people." http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20018632-503544.html )
I'm a racist?
Submitted by adamsmith on Mon, 05/16/2011 - 9:21am.
I thought in order to be a racist, you have to believe that one race is superior to all others. Funny how the people accused of being racist only seen to "hate" blacks. Wouldn't a true racist hate all others besides his own race? That inconsistency alone renders the left's claims of racism to be completely absurd.
Funny how the side that accuses the other of racism is really the racist position. Blacks, according to all things Democrat, couldn't possibly compete in the workplace without all sorts of government intervention(control). They must remain on the Democrat plantation to survive with the help of their Democrat Masters.
I don't hate Obamalinsky 'cause he's black. Color doesn't have a thing to do with it. I hate Obamalinsky because he's an Anti-American Communist. Why doesn't CNN and MSNBC report that about me? Please Commies, interview me on live TV. I'd be more than willing to tell everyone the Emperor has clothes, a Communist uniform to be exact....
The liberal's answer to that
Submitted by dscott on Mon, 05/16/2011 - 10:30pm.
The liberal's answer to that is you are an unintentional racist, that is a racist without malice due to your apathy from your obtuseness to see that ALL liberal policies are directed to helping minority groups. To oppose a liberal policy you must therefore be a racist. Don't you love that circular reasoning? We are racist because we don't agree with them. We are guilty of a thought crime. You are in league with the terrorist Emmanuel Goldstein, the enemy of the State. If you have paid attention to liberals from Senator Kennedy until now, you would know you are a bigot and must be punished. You are bad, very bad for not agreeing with the liberal agenda. It is a crime to express any idea that opposes the liberal agenda, that is why you are a bigot. Kennedy came right out and said if anyone opposes gay marriage, they were guilty of a hate crime. Not to worry, you won't be alone, I will be in the cell next to you.

Joan Walsh got it wrong - Gingrich
Submitted by Gary Hall on Mon, 05/16/2011 - 2:00pm.
Joan Walsh, not to mention her blaten bias, got her facts wrong:
I don't think so. Gingrich didn't use it again on MTP on Sunday; rather it was David Gregory who brought it up and played the tape from the Friday before.
One thing here is clear; Joan Walsh plays her pathetic game "again" and "again."
