Bill Maher: 'Republicans Say They Love Herman Cain So They're Not Racist - Right'

By Noel Sheppard | May 14, 2011 | 16:45

Noel Sheppard's picture

Last Friday, Bill Maher called Republicans paranoid, greedy racists.

On the most recent installment of HBO's "Real Time," the host said, "Republicans say they love [Herman Cain] so they're not racist - right" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

BILL MAHER: Just bear with me. I want to show for the folks who may not follow politics as closely as we do who all the people are who are now in or possibly in for the Republicans. We’re going to show you some pictures. Let me start with the first category. These are the people who have either declared or just, you know, pussy-footing, but they’re really in.

There’s Tim Pawlenty, raw sex appeal. Mitt Romney, you know him. He ran last time. Ron Paul announced today. He of course has been in Congress 31 years. His theme: I hate government. Mike Huckabee says he has a big announcement over the weekend which is either he's going to run or “Hee Haw’s” coming back. Herman Cain, I never heard of this guy, but apparently he ran Godfather's Pizza, and Republicans say they love him so they're not racist - right.

So, whatever Republicans do they're racist.

They don't support a black presidential candidate, they're racist. They do support a black presidential candidate, they're racist.

Got it?

Hey Donkyface................you're too friggin' stupid to understand why we might be attracted to Herman Cain, and it's NOT because he's 'black', you dope!!! But, if you DO want to get into a 'race' pissing match, Cain is a REAL 'black' man with REAL 'black' American history.........not like this poser that you wear your kneepads for......................

He's the number 1 reason I HATE HBO. An overpriced channel, full of overrated pretentious garbage, including his preachy, snooty, snobby, condescending, pseudo-intellectual trash. It says a LOT about liberals that they'll actually pay money to see Maher insult, demean, and degrade people simply for having different sociopolitical views. Open-minded and tolerant my butt.

Progressives seem to be completely averse to facts and logic. Apparently, reality has a conservative bias.

Black w/ red interior and Crager wheels...classic! It's weird and cool at the same time seeing it in Europe though. I watched Muscle car TV this morning and the guys was working on a 71. Stunning car but they picked the ugliest color. Lime! It was only through the miracle of adding black stripes that made the car bearable to look at.

The Right is ignorant, mentally challenged if religious, stupid, greedy, angry, violent and most of all - Racist. We're Idiots that support Herman Cain because he talks the talk but we don't really want him as president 'cause he's Black. Newt Gingrich is racist because he compared Obama and his agenda to the city of Detroit in its present state and himself to Texas. Huh? The Left and Maher in particular have absolutely no credibility with their idiotic attacks on the Right. Why anyone wants to watch this guy, I'll never know. Noel and the Newsbusters team, I feel bad that you have to sit and watch this stuff everyday, but I thank you for doing it so I don't have to. Mahar and other candy-@$$ liberals are a lot like the muslim terrorists. They'll never be satisfied and it's pointless to try and please them - therefore it's pointless to do things to TRY and please them.

Maybe that's what Obama, their king candy-@$$, was talking about in El Paso when he said 'they'll never be satisfied'.

and especially LTG Russel Honore (of you are stuck on stupid fame). Who we don't like are Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the New Black Panthers, and even President Obama. The reasons are that we dislike their politics, not their melanin. Bill Cosby, for his politics, is well respected because he stands for something. Jackson, Sharpton, the New Black Panthers, etc are just pandering to their race and racial preferences. You could even put John Kerry and Howard Dean in blackface and we wouldn't like them any better or any less. Even Maher in blackface would not be less or more repugnant.

It really is about time that the black voters do as Star Parker suggests, and get off from the plantation. BTW, we like her also.

Intellectually Maher knows...

Submitted by Turn Right on Sat, 05/14/2011 - 7:07pm.

that Republicans aren't really racists. The idea that being a Republican makes you a racist is an intellectually untenable stereotype that few thinking people can actually believe (I hope). By his own definition then, Herman Cain would be a racist too, but Maher would never have the courage to say that.

No, Maher is just one of the millions of white liberals who like the easy race-baiting because, even more than being a way to make a lazy attack, it's a way of saying:

"Hey look at me! Even though I'm white I'm attacking racism, so I can't be a racist! Look at me! I'm superior! Hey black people, look at me! I'm defending you... aren't I special? I'm really a superior person, dontcha think?"

He goes after white people and defends black people based solely on their color. Even though Herman Cain is the Republican candidate, did you notice that Maher didn't say anything negative about him, and instead attacked the white people who love him?

Maher regularly calls people who only care about political ideology racists, but he himself will never have the confidence of his own convictions to judge others on the basis of who they are, rather than the color of their skin. Ironic, isn't it?

By the way, did you notice that he began by "...showing folks who may not follow politics as closely as we do..." and then turns around and says he'd never heard of Herman Cain? Exactly how closely then does he follow it?

(Strange though that he knows all of the white candidates, but not Herman Cain isn't it? Hmmmm... What's different about Herman Cain? Hmmm.... I'm wondering.... Could Bill be.....a.. a.....?)

You are incorrect

Submitted by Plumb Bob on Sun, 05/15/2011 - 7:49pm.

Maher, like most liberals, is intellectually hindered by his ideology (which is a product of his psychology), and cannot evaluate evidence or draw rational conclusions based on evidence. His ideology tells him that the great virtue of liberalism is the elimination of racism, and that that is the greatest possible good. It's the only plausible excuse for his having jettisoned all traditional human virtue and become completely amoral. Republicans are racists; they HAVE to be, or else Maher threw away all semblance of virtue in order to serve his own, selfish interests, and is genuinely evil. And he CAN'T be evil; he's the GOOD GUY, can't you see? Nobody could POSSIBLY keep all those moral rules! So he's emotionally incapable of drawing a conclusion that includes "Republicans are not racist" as one of the consequents. To do so would invalidate his very existence, and prove how deeply immoral he truly is.

This is the manner in which the worst human beings in the worst convince themselves that they are genuinely the best human beings in the world. Welcome to the insane world of liberal fantasy.

These are very dangerous people, and will easily stoop to mass murder a la Stalin rather than admit to having made ordinary, foolish choices to serve their selfish interests.

So, Maher gets to say --

Submitted by ThisnThat on Sat, 05/14/2011 - 9:25pm.

So, Maher gets to say -- without justification, without proof, without even a shred of evidence, mind you -- that Republicans only support Cain because Republicans are racist. The fact that Maher can say such a thing without suffering any consequences from his employer is just amazing to me. What's more amazing is that no one in the MSM is going to challenge Maher on this point -- no one in the MSM is going to say -- "Look, here's an example of an extreme left-winger telling lies to the public". No one is going to touch Maher on this. The entire MSM shows its complicity in these matters. I guarantee you that if Rush Limbaugh said "The only reason Democrats support obama is because they're racist", everybody would be all over him. This MSM double-standard just screams at you.

But I'd like to know why Maher doesn't like Cain. Another poster here pointed out that Maher hasn't said anything about Cain -- instead, Maher is trying to paint him as unacceptable by (a) telling us his supporters are evil, and (b) accusing Cain by his association with such evil and despictable people. What is Maher's real beef with Cain? I'd say his real beef is -- that Cain is black, and being black is more important than being American, so Cain is being disloyal by turning away from his true tribal association -- democrats. Maher is all but admitting this by his statements. So, come on MSM -- call Maher out on this, won't you? Maher is about as racist as a person can be. Obvious as the nose on your face.

Looks like the left is afraid

Submitted by RESTLESS 1 on Sun, 05/15/2011 - 3:00am.

Allen West, Herman Cain, Condi, Sowell, Walter Williams, many more. As the left realizes that there are black folks that see through the veil of lies, the attacks will increase. Heavy Chevy is correct, they will, in time, be characterized as "house n*****s". Google "Condoleeza Rice as Bush's parrot" for an example.

The media perpetuates this myth that those on the right are racists, homophobes, etc...yet they belie their history. Their ideology and beliefs are truly racist. Look at the damage that has been done to the black community by their policies: abortion as a percentage well beyond their numbers, lack of voting power due to same, broken families, and poverty still affects minorities disproportionately.

I can't believe that ANYONE takes liberals seriously anymore.

...a black man, or any other of their minority voting blocs, sees the light of conservatism and wanders off the lefty plantation; especially to the point of becoming a voice of the opposition in politics.

If Condi Rice was Aunt Jemima, who will Herman be depicted as in the political funnies? I'm sure the other race-baitors, Jackson and Sharpton have somebody on it already. (Because they are black they can't be racist, right? At least not in the eyes of idiots).

The Happy Klansman

Submitted by Avitar on Sun, 05/15/2011 - 3:28am.

Bill Maher is a racist bigot and cannot imagine that anyone isn't Most people know that the KKK was an organization that grew out of the southern Democratic Party but few consider the implications for the people who remained in the Democratic Party in the rest of the country. The level of focus necessary to remain in the same organization as the KKK precludes most thought process.
For Mr. Maher the thought probably goes slaves or overseer for the masters. Since health care comples work from the doctors and the taxpayers (the slaves) he is offering to slap down the slaves for the masters.

My problem with Cain? He

Submitted by amyshulk on Sun, 05/15/2011 - 3:55am.

My problem with Cain? He doesn't really say anything, and with no record of votes, it's just a repeat of '08 in my mind - voting on what we wish to be, not what is. I've seen him many times in the past - what, 6 months or so? - on CAVUTO, and never got it.

Amyshulk - what Cain are you watching???

Submitted by acaiguana on Sun, 05/15/2011 - 6:35am.

Cain has specific plans; specific platforms and enumerates them as he speaks from his brain not his teleprompter.

As to his having no record as far as his votes is concerned, what's new?  Obama had no votes as to his record.  But I digress.

The point to Cain's record as a politician is that he has no record as a politician.  That is the point he makes over and over again.

So as to your comment regarding not getting it, I only have to say you are not really listening.

Submitted by amyshulk on Mon, 05/16/2011 - 3:55am.

I watched the debate, and as I noted, saw him many times on CAVUTO. I get that he's a big picture guy, and I agree with him on direction, I just felt he would get more into the weeds and was disappointed he didn't.

I also worry that voting him in would be a reaction to the mistake of '08.

Big picture, I see what is wrong {gov't intrusion} and I understand the fix, I just don't see the path there.

OK, I'll pay better attention to him. I'm just so afraid we'll do what the D's did - ignore/downplay stuff that would tank a white R - and end up with someone who takes the US to further ruin.

I watched the debate over and

Submitted by amyshulk on Mon, 05/16/2011 - 12:13pm.

I watched the debate over and over. I've been hearing that Cain was great for awhile now, so I expected him to really get into specifics, even though I KNOW the left would twist whatever he said to destroy him.

Something nagged at me after I watched, and I finally realized he sounded like O did on the trail - all the right buzzwords to get moderates to his side. That is where I KNOW it's how you play the game, but I thought we were all about telling it like it is - that there are 2 *completely* different world views basically in a tug of war for our Nations very soul, so it bothered me.

Catch 22 With Liberals On Race

Submitted by Blue Collar Todd on Sun, 05/15/2011 - 4:58am.

There are no conditions in which one could oppose the policies of a African American President, who is a Democrat, and not be viewed as a racist by the Left. There are also no conditions in which one could support the policies of a African American President, who is a Republican, and not be viewed as a racist by the Left.

Liberals and revisionist history...

Submitted by acaiguana on Sun, 05/15/2011 - 6:38am.

The most clever thing the Liberals did in the 1960's was hijack the media.

One would never know that Lincoln, MLK, Nixon (who sent the Guard into the South to desegregate) and a host of other champions of freedom and liberty were Republicans.

Likewise one would never know George Wallace was a Democrat.  As were nearly all the defenders of segregation during the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's.

How this came about I dunno, unless the Democrats have been telling the Big Lie often and long enough as dictated by Stalin or was it Lenin?

Maher: " I never heard of the guy."

Submitted by BigAlSouth on Sun, 05/15/2011 - 8:06am.

So, Bill Maher never heard of 'the guy', Herman Cain. I suppose that makes Maher ignorant and uninformed. just like the rest of the so-faux-funny Lib laughmakers. Shoot, Randi Rhodes is out there claiming to this day that Gabrielle Giffords was shot by a Tea Party member.

I have heard Herman Cain for years substituting on Neal Boortz's radio show.

I think Maher knows all about Cain. He just wants to marginalize him. Now, who is the racist here?

Obama isn't a black man. He isn't a white man. He is a Puppet, bought and paid for by Soros and the DNC. I like Herman Cain's ideas. I like Allen West's ideas. I liken Newt's ideas. I can't stand any ideas obama has. As for Maher, he's a nobody with a cable show.

Years ago I was taught that the thing someone criticizes the longest and loudest is usually something they are guilty of in their heart of hearts. The people who continually bring up the race card are the liberals like Maher, who have no rational arguments to bring to the table, so they call names instead. Hmmmm............

Conservatives are racist?

Submitted by krendler on Sun, 05/15/2011 - 11:40am.

Isn't that, like, sort of stereotyping people, a practice that is the very foundation of racism? A bit ironic, no?

You hold conservative values so you're most likely a racist. What's the difference between that and someone saying "Look at that black guy over there. I bet he's a criminal"?

The real RACISTS voted FOR Obama

Submitted by MCLANTIERE on Sun, 05/15/2011 - 5:09pm.

Voting FOR someone simply because he is BLACK (or even half) -- is the same as voting against him for the very same reason.

Actually it's worse -- when you're voting AGAINST someone based on their race -- and he turns out to be a good guy -- the voter is somewhat shamed .. and society is still better off .

When you vote FOR a candidate based on his race ... and he's totally INEPT ... you begin this cycle of RACE BAITING by accusing those you oppose of the very thing for you are most guilty!

And what's WORSE ... you perpetuate the error by excusing everything thing Obama does -- by further RACE BAITING. Obama NEVER has to do anything well. And when he actually does get something right, (like being in charge when Bin Laden is killed!) the real RACISTS propel him into near god-like stature (because they themselves can quite believe he did anything right, either!)

96% of Blacks voted for Obama ... and some did a little less that HALF of the voting Whites.
