Kathy Griffin Booed By Troops After Calling Bristol Palin Fat At USO Event

As NewsBusters reported Sunday, vulgarian Kathy Griffin called Bristol Palin fat during her opening monologue of the USO's Divas Salute to the Troops broadcast on VH1.
New footage shows the potty-mouthed comedienne was lustily booed by troops in attendance (video follows with transcript and commentary):
KATHY GRIFFIN: Let’s talk about “Dancing with the Stars.” “Dancing with the Stars.” Yes. Yes. We’re going to talk about, and we got two words: Bristol Palin. Yeah, that’s right. Come on. Come on. You’re gonna like this. She’s the only contestant in the history of the show to actually gain weight.

Ok I am dating myself here but when I was a kid there was this gal named Norma. Built like a brick house!! She was never called fat. “BOMBSHELL was coined to describe her.” She stared in a lot of films and kicked off a magazine that is still around today. Her and other women of the time had something called a figure. Today’s stars have a shape but this man does not like the twig shape. As Sir Mix-a-lot said I LIKE BIG BUTTS!!!! Fat is Fat but a woman with curves in a red dress will cause car accidents.

What a loser this woman is. Does she not realize, that even those troops who may not like Sarah Palin, have respect for the fact that Bristol's brother Track served in the military? In harms way I believe. For that reason alone Bristol, as a member of a military family, should be off limits to scum like Griffen who has done nothing to serve her country.

Too bad the troops weren't free to boo when O gave his little pep talk.
Because instead of the obviously forced "hoo ahs", had the troops had their druthers and no orders from their superiors, I'm sure we'd have heard "boos" for Obama as well.
I saw a thing a while back about Griffin going to Iraq. She was doing it to further her career, had no understanding of people serving there, her jokes fell flat, and the mortars dropped her to the floor writhing in terror (she was staying in one of Saddam's castles). The only reason she's doing the USO tour is as a resume builder, nothing more.

I've been to these shows when a popular president showed and the troops are tearing the house down! I watched The One's speech, and the polite applause was "deafening." A few people cheered their service when it was mentioned. Poor Coasties had to shout their own service when Dumbo forgot that they also serve. "Ahhh, did somebody say Coast Guard, yo?"
Overall, I would say that was as restrained a reception as I have ever seen by our troops in combat. They usually appreciate the CinC showing up. Not so much this time.
He even talks down to them! "Going of OFFENSE! Tired of playing DEFENSE. Ahhh..."
This ain't some pickup "hoops" game, yo? The troops know it, but rat bastard Facist SOB doesn't.
He truly makes me retch.

It begs the question, knowing who her core audience is and why she appeals to them,, why would the USO book this woman to perform in front of a mostly conservative military audience? I'd like to know why the USO agreed to broadcast it's show on VH1 of all stations...99.9% of the stuff that VH1 broadcasts is total crap, and I don't understand why the USO is dealing with them in any circumstance.
As for the troops booing Griffin for her rant against Bristol, good for them. Griffin seems to have forgotten that her audience was not a bunch of braindead, idiot lefties, which is who she usually attracts. What Griffin and her ilk don't understand is that Sarah Palin is generally well thought of by the military, and by association, so is her family. Of course, dumba$$es like Griffin don't see or understand this, so they make stupid jokes and comments like she did, and end up getting booed for it...I love it.
