NBC's "Saturday Night Live" offered viewers a parody movie trailer of the disaster film "2012" Saturday evening.
The premise: former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Fox News host Glenn Beck have been elected President and Vice President, and the world is coming to an end as a result.
In an apparent attempt at fairness and balance -- or maybe the real point! -- the "credits" jokingly showed the film was created by the DNC (Democratic National Committee) and authored by MSNBC's Keith Olbermann - "A Political Disaster of Epic Proportions."
"On Election Day 2012, Planet Earth is Going Rogue" (video embedded below the fold, h/t our old friend Ms Underestimated):
Well, if they're gonna rip President Obama with their opening sketch, I guess we've got to tolerate some Palin and Beck bashing.
On the other hand, you could make the case that this is really excoriating the DNC not only for its extreme views of Palin and Beck, but also the implication they come directly from Olbermann.
Exit question: was this more of a dig at Palin and Beck or at the DNC and Olbermann?

Pretty funny.
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 12:36 ET by superconI just hope there is something left in 2012.

Unfortunately, I don't
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 12:40 ET by RR GOPUnfortunately, I don't think it will take Sarah Palin and/or Glenn Beck to foment some kind of disaster as these a$$holes believe.
God forbid (crosses self...like Tuco), but these wisea$$es up in NYC might find themselves under attack if not from Muslim fanatics then from the homegrown terrorists that never existed until they started insulting and egging on Conservatives for so long. A lot of folks out there sound to me like they're ready to rock 'n roll.
And I, for one, will feel no sorrow for these Marxists.

SNL Thank YOU!!!
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 15:31 ET by countmein5050SNL is doing more to bring the focus to the ills of liberal logic and back around to simply wanting someone with the courage to step up and call 'em as they see 'em. SNL is building the conservative base...and they need to be thanked. With every liberal-biased skit they wake more and more people up to the reality of what life under liberal rein is doing for us. Keep it up, SNL!! Of course it would be even better if they weren't so invested in corrupting and perverting life, but I, for one, can recognize a blessing in disguise when I see it.
She's really got them scared . . .
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 12:46 ET by GalvanicPersonally, I don't think she'll run, and if she does, I don't think she could get nominated by the GOP for one main reason: her resignation of the Alaska governorship paints her as a quitter under pressure.
That having been said, the Left gets apoplectic over the mere image of her, and they've continuously attacked her with everything they've got. As more than one observer has noted, she is a living, breathing symbol of a 'liberated' woman, who happens to be pro-life and pro-gun, and additionally seems to be quite happy with life. The moribund feminist elite trembles.
Palin is a great lightning rod for conservatives, and she seems strong enough to play the role. Earning millions of dollars in the process can't hurt.
Hmm...
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 12:47 ET by BarkerI saw this sketch more as making fun of the left's Palin paranoia than making fun of Palin herself.
HuffPo doesn't get it.
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 14:13 ET by ApacheAnd what is even funnier is the left's reaction because they don't seem to get the joke (big surprise).
I Agree
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 15:39 ET by northoneThis sketch was not so much about bashing Palin as it was poking fun at the Left's PDS (Palin Deranged Syndrome). You've gotta love how she has the Lefties and the MSM completely tied up in knots and foaming at the mouth!
All together now....

Palin 2012
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 12:47 ET by sherlock1This was a spoof of the DNC, not Palin.
And how about the subtitle: "From the Mind of Keith Olbermann".
They're not laughing with you, Keith!
SNL
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 12:50 ET by blazermaniacIt SNL wants to do something about a scary situation, they should do a spoof on the current president. Unfortunately, this one is very real!
Mental illnes on display
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 13:32 ET by TexasMom0517I agree that it slams Olbermann and the DNC more than Beck and Palin. Course, that may just be my point of view.
Agreed.
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 13:53 ET by rolling_oIMO, definitely making fun of Olbermann and the DNC, based on the irrational fear of Palin they appear to have.
The only improvement I would have made was to change line "From the mind of Keith Olbermann" to:
From the fevered mind of Keith Olbermann.
Honestly?
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 13:13 ET by rmbltmblI thought it was pretty funny and I'm a HUGE fan of both Beck and Palin. This seems almost light-hearted compared to some shots on weekend update I've seen in the past. With the DNC and KO.. it was hilarious.

This was a dig on all four.

A republican babies cry
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 13:19 ET by buddycA republican babies cry about how the evil democrats are going to take away talk radio. Republicans had a chance to deal with media like SNL, NBC, CBS and ABC and treat this as a campaign contribution requiring limits and disclosure and EQUAL "F"ing TIME.
This joke on Republicans has been going on for 35 years and not just SNL. Chevey Chase has acknowledge they did skits that they knew were wrong and false and misleading because it was their duty to elect democrats. Most Americans to this day believe a good and decent man who was an all american football player was a clumsy unathletic idiot.
I don't feel sorry for "US" because we are crybabies.
Not all Republicans are
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 13:20 ET by Free StinkerNot all Republicans are cry-babies.
Just RINOs and few un-informed individuals.

EXCEPT Obama
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 13:39 ET by TexasMom0517Only Obambi is above reproach! However, that being said, there seem to be cracks in the political correctness continuum. It started with the Duke Lacrosse Hoax and has continued through the Hassan terrorism attack. It's like cracks in a windshield- they start out small and spread until the windshield is broken throughout. The media has "jumped the shark" in such an extreme way over Obama that only REALLY stupid people believe them any longer.
Are you serious?
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 14:19 ET by Apache" Republicans had a chance to deal with media like SNL, NBC, CBS and ABC"
AND THEY DIDN'T. That's exactly why they are better than liberals. Besides, ratings and free market take care on these things on their own. NBC is a fourth rate network. Even Al Gore said it. But this SNL was good. They need to shed their bias and go for the jokes more often.
Yes it does but when
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 15:16 ET by buddycYes it does but when republicans support campaign finance that effective cuts off republican contributors and does nothing to silence this out and out campaigning and it goes on for 35 years, cry baby is a kind word for what republicans are doing and have done.
I see what you are saying.
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 20:10 ET by ApacheI see what you are saying. Yes maybe too kind. But I don't know if two wrongs would make a right. Better for them to undo their last screw up.

The world has gone to sheet and so America elects Gov Palin in 2012.
Love that last shot. "Palin 2012"
The left won't admit it but most of them love a true American Patriot like Gov Palin instead of that Indonesian Marxist Muslim Obama.
2008 Trailer on SNL next?
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 15:07 ET by metaphorsbwithuThis is an example of getting two (or three or four) birds with one stone, but those who detest Palin and Beck won't get the joke.
Maybe SNL should do a trailer for the "PREQUEL" - 2008.
Credits could go to the "cutting room floor" of the mainstream media.

the look on his face is PRICELESS....
He had to be in on it but
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 20:17 ET by ApacheHe had to be in on it but even the weekend update seemed to mock him. That skit is a running gag and the guests always get bumped. But then again, maybe they left him out of the loop because his acting did seem too good.
SNL's real message is:
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 16:35 ET by ahusserObama & Co. are screwing up the country so bad that there is a real possiblity of electing a conservative duo such as this. I think SNL trying to be funny is projecting their extreme fear of a conservative backlash to the Marxists now in charge. Palin and Beck makes their collective heads explode and for the life of me don't know why. But I encourage liberal exploding heads.
"Somehow, I told you so, just doesn't quite say it." Will Smith in 'I, Robot.'
Palin-Beck 2012
Sun, 11/22/2009 - 19:36 ET by sherlock1The skit played it completely straight with Palin, and even with Beck(!) That's some serious MSM blasphemy, there!
Yeah, and that "From the Mind of Keith Olbermann"... they aren't laughing with Keith on that one.
