A new left-wing organization created specifically to attack Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Lou Dobbs, Pat Buchanan, and Paul Brown has ties to ex-Obama green jobs czar Van Jones.
As NewsBusters reported Thursday, StopTheWitchHunt.org was formed to "call out" what it considers "mischaracterizations and hate speech" by the aforementioned quintet.
With the assistance of tipster Bret A. Gehring, NewsBusters has discovered an organizational link to Jones.
Our investigation began with who was listed as the contact person on the STWH press release reported by Reuters Thursday:
SOURCE StopTheWitchHunt.org
Karlos Schmeider, +1-505-363-4962, karlos@centerformediajustice.org
For those unfamiliar, the Center for Media Justice is "a media strategy and action center that uses strategic communications and media activism to build a powerful movement for racial justice, economic equity, and human rights. Through two program areas and fee for service projects, CMJ strengthens the communications effectiveness of grassroots groups and builds a powerful, integrated movement for media justice and communication rights."
Its address is 1611 Telegraph Avenue, Suite 510, Oakland, California.
According to Issue Lab, the Center for Media Justice used to be the Youth Media Council:
Center for Media Justice (Formerly Youth Media Council) 1611 Telegraph Ave
Oakland , California
94612
United States Phone 510-444-640
Web address http://youthmediacouncil.org (as early as next week will be http://centerformediajustice.org)Mission Statement: Youth Media Council builds communications power and defends the communication rights of youth, communities of color, and organizing groups working for racial and economic justice. Launched in 2001 to counter racial stereotypes and anti-youth bias in the news, YMC is a media strategy and action center dedicated to building a strategic and collaborative movement for justice by strengthening media strategy, capacity and action in California and beyond.
The web address "http://www.youthmediacouncil.org" does indeed redirect to CMJ.
A Scarleteen article about YMC revealed the following:
Youth Media Council (YMC) was founded in 2001 as a two-year pilot project at We Interrupt This Message (Interrupt). A media strategy center for the racial justice movement since the early 90s, Interrupt founded the YMC to increase the media strategy and capacity of the youth organizing sector. YMC built upon Interrupt's racial justice communications framework and strong partnerships with racial and economic justice groups. Under the leadership of veteran media strategists Hunter Cutting and Kim Deterline, Interrupt pioneered methods for media capacity building, strategic communications and media watchdog projects uniquely tailored to disenfranchised communities.
Who's listed first on the Board of Directors of Interrupt?
Board of Directors
Van Jones
Ella Baker Center for Human Rights
Putting the pieces together, an organization that Jones is on the board of founded the Youth Media Council which is now the Center for Media Justice. A representative of CMJ is the contact person for this new coalition looking to target Limbaugh, Beck, Dobbs, et al.
Coincidence?
Not likely, for a look at CMJ's Facebook page revealed an interesting post on September 29 (emphasis added):
Tell Fox News to Stop the Witch Hunts! Join CMJ and Color of Change to stop Glenn Beck's program!
As NewsBusters reported on August 12, Jones was a founding member of Color of Change, the group that started an online petition calling for advertisers to stop sponsoring Glenn Beck's television program.
But this gets better, for CMJ's Facebook post sent readers to its "Actions" page. There, readers can find a September 11 headline, "Tell Fox News to Stop the Witch Hunts!" The embedded link sent readers to -- wait for it!!! -- Color of Change's Beck petition.
This was posted at CMJ's website just five days after Jones was forced to resign as Obama's green jobs czar.
Now, roughly seven weeks later, a new coalition has been created using the same phrase "Stop the Witch Hunt" for its name, and its contact person works for CMJ which was not only founded by an organization whose Board of Directors includes Jones, but also worked with Jones's Color of Change to get advertisers to stop sponsoring Beck.
If you still think this is all just a coincidence, might I interest you in some swampland?

November 1, 2009 - 21:10 ET by ptsonEach day, the enemies list gets longer and broader and more inclusive. Theodore H. Where is Theodore when you need him most?

Van Jones, who is almost as big a Communist as Anita Dunn
November 1, 2009 - 21:14 ET by Patrick MichaelSo let's see if I have this right. Glenn Beck expresses an 'opinion' about Barrack Obama being a racist, Color of Change with front man James Ricker filling in for Van Jones calls Beck a "racist" for his opinion and launches a boycott of Glenn Beck's advertisers. Okay, so on the one hand Beck is called to the carpet for calling Obama a racist, but who is calling Color of Change to the carpet, aren't they doing the same thing???? Who is boycotting Color of Change?
And Van Jones? Let's see...Van Jones may have kept his job at the White House if he had of realized that those funny little boxes with flashing red lights they point at you when you talk are VIDEO CAMERAS they record your words!!! Maybe he should not have made so many Socialist/Communist/Marxist statements. Maybe he should have signed one less petition.
This is FAR from the 1st time this group (Color of Change) has boycotted someone on Fox. There last Fox boycott was when the Congressional Black Caucaus was going to have a presidentail debate on Fox, Color of Change members Ricker and Van Jones had a fit!! Oh no, Fox was a racist organization. Believe it or not, Ricker sent copies of articles from MEDIA MATTERS and NEWSHOUNDS to the Congressional Black Caucaus to prove it's stance that Fox was a racist news organization and guess what, IT WORKED!!! CNN (that non-biased REAL news network) held the VP debate (remeber when Gwen Ifill was the moderator?) that was sure fair.
Yes, all these groups are one and the same, it is a huge shell game and we are the losers.

So what's next?
MSM outrage, that's what! This is just the type of investigative reporting that only the "professionals" can do. This simply can't be done by the alternative media -- according to the MSM. So I wonder, Noel, why doesn't the MSM do the job you and the NB'ers are doing every day? Good work.

When the pot meets the kettle
November 1, 2009 - 22:59 ET by Dim BulbFrom Stop The Witch Hunt: Scary. That's what this mob of right wing ideologues are to most of
us. Scarier still, they have a national platform to use code words
and race baiting to spread fear and mistrust. It would be sad, even
funny, if so many people weren't hurt by them. Hate crimes are up.
False accusations and outright lies have cost good people their jobs
and their reputations. And we don't know who will be next.
The funny thing is, if you replace "right wing ideologues" with "left wing ideologues" the above statements will ring true with the right. If you drop the race card just because a white person objects to a black Presidents policy-that's race baiting. And as for code words, the left not only has their own, they're quite adept at inventing them for others; pulling them out of thin air. We all remember Maureen Dowd's "what I heard was 'you lie, boy.'" Hell, they will even insinuate code words. Witness Bill Maher's innuendo concerning the headline "Obama's Negs Rise."
Ah, if we only had a free press!!!
November 1, 2009 - 23:00 ET by pbthinkerSince Obama has gone overboard with his CZARS, it's incumbent upon the press to do the vetting they're avoiding in the Senate. Our problem is there's only one media outfit doing a credible job of it these days and that's Fox. This organization would never have been formed if all the press was doing their job because they wouldn't be able to go after everyone. It's easy to go after one network when everyone else is avoiding their job.
I'd like to think the press is waking up but they do have to take the first step. Perhaps, once this election cycle is over, the press can find it in their heart to start serving their readers rather than the Democratic Party.
Election 2008-God's way of showing us that elections count.

edit - ok, I reread the statement about their name, after seeing the Karl Marx part, then they try to make sound better by comparing themselves to Klingons of Star Trek fame. Is that any better? I don't think so, not only do they think they are better then the rest of the universe, but they will try to kill anybody that thinks otherwise or gets in their way. Sounds like a fair assessment for a group of Karl Klowns.
Not in the least bit surprised
November 2, 2009 - 04:15 ET by surfergirl54As an outsider, I am not in the least bit surprised to learn that Van Jones and Colour of Change is behind this "stop the witch hunt" site. Actually, I was thinking that Bertha Lewis might have had a hand in the setting up of the site.
Look at the facts here:
1. Glen Beck outed Van Jones who is a known Communist/Marxist forcing him to resign from the White House. Face facts, Jarrett and Bambi would not have been very pleased to lose this creep.
2. The breaking of the ACORN scandal has certainly upset a few people - and even if Bambi claims to not know about ACORN he is lying because he is very much associated with them.... makes me wonder if he taught them how to be cheats.
3. The attack on Glen Beck was orchestrated by Van Jones, but who told him to start the attacks?...... my guess is Bambi. There seems to be a pattern to the attacks on both Rush and Fox and it can only be coming from one person who is upset because he is "not loved by all". He must be very fearful that he will be exposed over other matters.
The point is that a site like that is set up for the very purpose of confusing those who are starting to think for themselves. Most of us now realize what "social justice" means in some circles... yet I think that there is another more Christian meaning to "social justice" - it is justice on a more personal level.
The attacks claiming people are racist just because they see through Bambi are just so ridiculous but so long as these liberals never get properly challenged there will be people who are gullible enough to go along with the slander of such sites. For that reason there needs to be a constant watch on their activities, and even if these people will not allow Conservatives to fight back, we still have the means by using our own blogs to give the other side of the story. Two can play at the game of not allowing comments.... :)
If Valerie Jarrett opens her mouth then people need to jump on her words. If Anita Dunn opens her stupid yap then people need to point out the stupidity of her statements. In each case we can fight back and point out that this is once more a case of projection, that everything these stupid idiots say about Conservatives is equally applied to them in buckets. To hit back you just need to find their statements that show them to be totally unhinged people who do not belong in power.
Some of the more recent statements coming out of the NYT continue to prove that the left are totally unhinged and are discredited because they are simply not capable of being unbiased in their opinions. The leftwing journalist continue to be Bambi's lap dogs, but how long will it last.... and who is going to respond to this latest attempt to remain relevant.
BTW as an outsider, there is no way that I could place blame on Rush Limburgh for the actions of Timothy McVeigh. The reason? Well, McVeigh was a witness and was upset about the raid at Waco organized by Janet Reno. I have no idea why he decided to blow up that building and yes I remember some of those images like the fireman carrying that tiny child in his arms. I have no proof that McVeigh was even a member of the extreme right wing. If anything he was probably associated with the Delarouche mob. Also, no talk show host was responsible for the actions of the man who murdered Tiller. Once he goes to court it will be more obvious that he was acting on motivations that related to a former girlfriend having an abortion. This action unhinged him, not the words of any talk show host. The left continue to be totally dishonest in what they state in their blogs and in their newscasts. They are the ones who are totally irresponsible.
It's getting weird
November 2, 2009 - 06:27 ET by 10ksnookerThe names of these leftard groups, 'justice something' and a bashing they will go. Is this even remotely Constitutional, runing astroturf operations out of the White House? What if Bush had done it?
I wonder how effective the Democrat's astroturfers are with their ACORN tee shirts and bought signs are anymore. It's one thing when the field is yours, quite another when there is opposition. The astroturfers look funny on TV.
Sounds like a whole lot of propaganda to me
November 2, 2009 - 06:43 ET by spmcintyreand it leads directly to Obamas doorstep...
This is really all a big joke, because Beck has that open and private phone line open to Anita Dunnce. She can call him whenever she wants to dispute the "facts" as she sees them. Her lib/commie lawyer husband, now in line for a whitehouse council job, was loud enough when people were running "misleading" or "false" adds against 0bama during the Presidential campaign. Why is it that they are unable to pick up a phone and publically denounce what Beck and Rush and the others are saying?
Because, they can't. There is nothing that can be said to defend their (0bamas) position against the facts coming from their own recorded lying faces.
When it comes to government, its not whether the glass is half full or empty, its that the glass is just to big.
