The Democratic National Committee has released a new video to push back against protests happening at town hall meetings across the country, and according to ABC's Jake Tapper, these demonstrators are being depicted as "irrational birthers who want to 'destroy' President Obama."
For those unfamiliar with the term, "birthers" are folks that question whether Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen.
Tapper also reported that the ad claims these protests are being staged by "desperate Republicans and their well funded allies [who are] organizing angry mobs -- just like they did during the election."
DNC video along with more of Tapper's report below the fold:
Though Tapper did offer a counter view that "some of the town hall protesters are clearly organized at the grass roots level by some of the conservatives active earlier this year in the 'tea party' movement," his piece largely echoed Tuesday's "World News with Charlie Gibson" segment wherein demonstrators were depicted as "orchestrated" and "organized."DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse issued a statement about "the Republican Party and Allied Groups’ Mob Rule," saying that the "Republicans and their allied groups -- desperate after losing two consecutive elections and every major policy fight on Capitol Hill -- are inciting angry mobs of a small number of rabid right wing extremists funded by K Street Lobbyists to disrupt thoughtful discussions about the future of health care in America taking place in Congressional Districts across the country."
Woodhouse said: "The right wing extremists’ use of things like devil horns on pictures of our elected officials, hanging members of Congress in effigy, breathlessly questioning the president's citizenship and the use of Nazi SS symbols and the like just shows how outside of the mainstream the Republican Party and their allies are. This type of anger and discord did not serve Republicans well in 2008 -- and it is bound to backfire again." [...]
Woodhouse continued: "These mobs are bussed in by well funded, highly organized groups run by Republican operatives and funded by the special interests who are desperately trying to stop the agenda for change the President was elected to bring to Washington. Despite the headline grabbing nature of these angry mobs and their disruptions of events, they are not reflective of where the American people are on the issues -- or the hundreds of thousands of thoughtful discussions taking place around kitchen tables, water coolers and in homes."
This all raises an important question: as the August Congressional recess continues, and more town hall meetings are attended by angry protesters, will media just repeat Democrat talking points concerning who the attendees are, or will they report how such demonstrations are indeed an outpouring of emotion from regular citizens worried about the direction of the nation?
Is everyone in this country that is angry about higher taxes, higher government spending, as well as the pending healthcare and cap and tax bills somehow tied to a conservative organization pulling the strings?
Do media elites REALLY believe that, or is this just good copy to assist a president they helped get elected whose polls are plummeting while his agenda has hit a roadblock?

THE HANDFULS OF MUD RESPONSE
August 5, 2009 - 12:30 ET by reelman46T-HALL RESPONSE — DEM SMEARS & LIES
Its
(again) sooo predictable. Any democrat (aka secular socialist)
administration or person that gets seriously or aggressively questioned
NEVER responds by respectfully explaining (using honest data) their
position-reasons on the issue. They roll their eyes, call names,
distort, ignore, lie and avoid. The voters are SICK of this approach by
SO MANY in the royal congress while the state-controlled media fawns
without concern.
Now we have a few huge issues on the table. The clunky lawmakers
rush, they admit not even reading trillion dollar bills, they parrot
talking points, they mock you, they tell you that you are stupid. When
the voters finally get them on their local turf where the playing field
is nearly even…the elected royalty are in shock and react by arrogant
disgust. Wonder why?
The irony is the thugs in charge who could not overpraise “community
organizing” last year cry like babies when its done to reject their
socialism. Go figure.
So what are the O-socialists to do? Its smear and lie time. You have
not YET heard factual logical honest defense of the HC aspects.
What you hear is smearing by the socialists who are simply incapable of
telling us exactly what is in these trillion dollar takeover bills.
Its OUR money!
Now the liberal state-run media has begun smearing t-hall groups.
Its not bad enough that Tea Party attendance is deliberately reported
as about 5x less…now the biased media is calling any group questioning
our “publik servants” inaccurate disrespectful names (hired mobs etc)
without a shred of proof! Not a single attendee has been identified as
sent by an insurance company, the RNC or any radio talk show.
You wonder why the TV news networks lost their cred years ago? Hey, try
reporting the whole truth for a change…is that now too much to ask?
Is is too much to ask O-democrats to read and be able to explain/answer questions when you are pushing a trillion dollar bill?
If so, what does that tell you about why the t-hall folks are so out of patience with their publik servants?
Wait, now I understand that phrase, “Liberalism is a Mental Disorder”…..they must lie.

August 5, 2009 - 11:13 ET by iveseenitallWhy is Lou Dobbs continuing to report on the "birther" issue? Does he simply want to keep the alive in order to mock any legitimate protests? Just sayin'..
Mocking anyone with whom you disagree,of course, is a well-used old trick. This mocking business is the last resort of a LIAR who has been caught. I saw it practiced for many years in public education. Just go to a college class-- the "professors" are experts at it. Barry lughed at the Tea Parties, didn't he? But I'm afraid it isn't going to work this time around. Millions of Americans are angered and outraged at this corrupt government of ours. And, thanks to the internet, they are well-informed. I hope, and expect, our citizens will keep up their protests.

Amazing
August 5, 2009 - 11:22 ET by cvgbuckeyeI am a 64 year old Christian Conservative. I have lived my entire life in this country, attended school, including college and served in The United States Marine Corp.
As I attended school, read, listened to the radio, watched TV and listened to my elders conversations, I was always amazed at what I would hear about countries like Germany, the Soviet Union, WWII, Italy, Red China, North Korea, Cuba and on and on.
It all seemed so surreal to me, so removed from reality, something about lands far, far away that lived only in the movies and on TV; nothing that actually existed in reality.
It just couldn't be that citizens of ANY nation could allow evil people like that to take over their countries and suppress their human freedoms.
It just could never happen in AMERICA could it!
It has! Hail Obama and his people! Welcome to reality America!
IT IS NOT TO LATE IF WE STAND TOGETHER NOW AND DRIVE THESE PEOPLE BACK TO THE HELL FROM WHICH THEY CAME!
What Caused This
August 5, 2009 - 13:26 ET by GeneralAlCVG, what you are experiencing is the result of turning the vote into a right instead of a privilege. When the Constitution was first written, owning property was a prerequisite. The incentive was to advance yourself to property ownership and thus have a voice in the democratic process. As that rule was eventually converted to a right, the responsible voter began to deteriorate. Ironically, though their goal was to discriminate against blacks, the south had the right idea with the literacy test. The only difference was to test your ability to read or write. Today, the common voter is illiterate in a different sense. They have been shoved through the public school system without any real demonstration of knowledge or ability. This was deliberate in order to deceive them at a later date. That date arrived in November of this year. Through eight years of disinformation and demonizing of President Bush, the Communist aka Democrats were successful in duping the illiterate American voter into electing the shopping cart retriever as the CO of Wal-Mart. Even now, I keep hearing how we need to give Obama a chance. They won't wake up until all their freedom has been taken away. This is what happens when you mess with the Constitution and deliberately fail to properly educate your kids!

August 5, 2009 - 11:13 ET by ConservativeMissourianOf course, none of these protesters could possibly really have an issue with what is going on. The MSM knows the truth. But as always, we'll get the Obama version. Now I think I know WHY the Obama administration has refused to produce the long form of the certificate; I know he was born in HI and I know that long form says so (at least I'm 99.9999% sure) - so why never produce it? To keep people clamoring for it so they can demonize them as racist fringe elements and then tie any other disagreements to them.
And if I want to go one step further with the conspiracy mindset, the woman who, at Congressman Castle's town hall, came prepared to start the discussion in the media re: birthers = racist bad people.
Typically we've seen that when some ordinary citizen confronts Obama and the world sees it, they get named and demonized (e.g. Joe the Plumber). This woman has surprisingly never been identified and never heard from again.
The original youtube video I believe belongs to this gent: http://www.youtube.com/user/WilliamDawesinDE#play/uploads who has only a few videos following Castle, and who joined youtube just before all this began. However, I'm not up to speed on if this video was someones camera phone or taken from a nightly newscast...seems like it's too good quality for the former, and no logos etc for the later.
Could the woman have been an Obama plant to create a media-driven discussion that birthers are crazy, and anyone who protests the health care ideas of Obama is a birther? Why has no one identified her yet? Is it because if one did, and the NewsBusters crew searched her name you'd see a Democratic donor or volunteer worker?
Something just seems way to fishy about how that video became a huge hit just before the protesting of health care began. It's all too convenient for the Obama administration and others who denounce those with legitimate concerns that protest.

Here's a letter from the DNC (I suscribe to see their latest lies) I received this morning, as part of their attempt to demonize citizens who have questions about Obama's Healthcare Rationing bill.
These people have no shame. You'll see these same talking points on MSNBC, Time, Newsweek, WAPO, Newsweek. Look for them.
There's the letter.
-------------------------------------------------------
There's been a lot of media coverage about organized mobs intimidating lawmakers, disrupting town halls, and silencing real discussion about the need for real health insurance reform.
The truth is, it's a sham. These "grassroots protests" are being organized and largely paid for by Washington special interests and insurance companies who are desperate to block reform. They're trying to use lies and fear to break the President and his agenda for change.
Health insurance reform is about our lives, our jobs, and our families -- we can't let distortions and intimidation get in the way. We need to expose these outrageous tactics, and we're counting on you to help. Can you read these "5 facts about the anti-reform mobs," then pass them along to your friends and family?
5 facts about the anti-reform mobs
1. These disruptions are being funded and organized by out-of-district special-interest groups and insurance companies who fear that health insurance reform could help Americans, but hurt their bottom line. A group run by the same folks who made the "Swiftboat" ads against John Kerry is compiling a list of congressional events in August to disrupt. An insurance company coalition has stationed employees in 30 states to track where local lawmakers hold town-hall meetings.
2. People are scared because they are being fed frightening lies. These crowds are being riled up by anti-reform lies being spread by industry front groups that invent smears to tarnish the President's plan and scare voters. But as the President has repeatedly said, health insurance reform will create more health care choices for the American people, not reduce them. If you like your insurance or your doctor, you can keep them, and there is no "government takeover" in any part of any plan supported by the President or Congress.
3. Their actions are getting more extreme. Texas protesters brought signs displaying a tombstone for Rep. Lloyd Doggett and using the "SS" symbol to compare President Obama's policies to Nazism. Maryland Rep. Frank Kratovil was hanged in effigy outside his district office. Rep. Tim Bishop of New York had to be escorted to his car by police after an angry few disrupted his town hall meeting -- and more examples like this come in every day. And they have gone beyond just trying to derail the President's health insurance reform plans, they are trying to "break" the President himself and ruin his Presidency.
4. Their goal is to disrupt and shut down legitimate conversation. Protesters have routinely shouted down representatives trying to engage in constructive dialogue with voters, and done everything they can to intimidate and silence regular people who just want more information. One attack group has even published a manual instructing protesters to "stand up and shout" and try to "rattle" lawmakers to prevent them from talking peacefully with their constituents.
5. Republican leadership is irresponsibly cheering on the thuggish crowds. Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner issued a statement applauding and promoting a video of the disruptions and looking forward to "a long, hot August for Democrats in Congress."
It's time to expose this charade, before it gets more dangerous. Please send these facts to everyone you know. You can also post them on your website, blog, or Facebook page.
Now, more than ever, we need to stand strong together and defend the truth.
Thanks,

"Respect"
August 5, 2009 - 12:01 ET by iveseenitallHi, BT:
I saw that polling guy, Luntz (sp?), on Hannity last night. He said we should show "respect" for these Congress people. I disagree! They've shown absolutely no respect for the American people. And I hate when they use that "respect the office" canard. They, themsleves, don't respect the office they hold. It's way past time that we tell it like it is. These are the lowest of the low in our society. Funny, "respect" isn't the word I think of when I see and hear them.

Nuremberg II for Soros and Democrats
August 5, 2009 - 12:07 ET by j17ghsOnly those who follow in the footsteps of Marx, Lenin, Stalin et al. would say anyone is irrational for wanting to maintain the rules of law. To do otherwise is anarchy and chaos. Imagine the sociopathic Democrats if someone else was elected -- and to the highest office, no less -- without showing a birth certificate!
And Obama is getting a pass for the billions in illegal campaign contributions and voter fraud orchestrated by Nazi-Marxist George Soros who should be in prison en route to the gallows, like his Nuremberg predecessors.

Doing the job reporters won't do
August 5, 2009 - 14:25 ET by acumenThe DNC can say what they want - only their drones listen anyway. But it's not Republicans or even the eeeeeeevil insurance companies that are holding up healthcare legislation. It's the blue-dog Democrats.
The Dems hold a majority in Congress. They don't need the Republican vote to pass healthcare. So in theory, the "mobs" are irrelevant.
So why are the blue-dog Dems holding up the Obama healthcrap agenda? Because the blue dog's or as bathtub boy mockingly calls them, "dog's", know the truth. These disgruntled citizens are not only for real, most of them are Dem voters. So the blue-dogs Dems can either ignore their constituents and vote for government healthcrap or they can get re-elected in the next election. Simple as that.
There, just did your work for ya' establishment media. Feel free to use any of the above in your next report.

Any other Republicans around here feel like they're "well funded" because I sure as hell don't.
Now, maybe I would be well-funded if it weren't for all of the Marxists and RINOs in the government picking my pocket to fill theirs, support their already-wealthy buddies, send money to foreigners and the U.N., and to support their 'base' who have park benches listed as their official residences.

Shame on the liberals - again.

ACORN Tactics Are Back!
August 5, 2009 - 18:01 ET by BondPlainBondObama should know. Teaching how to "get in their faces", how to disrupt, how to "shout down", and all kinds of various and sundry tactics to keep those he felt were opposition from making their point successfully.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander, no?
Received today in my inbox, a letter from Obama in which he says:
"This is the moment OUR MOVEMENT was built for."
Our movement? Who is included in the "our" portion of his statement?
Isn't the President of the United States supposed to work for and represent ALL the people and not just those deigned part of a "movement"?
This is frightening, especially since the President is telling the world those that refute or disagree with his insane policies and programs are "paid" political operatives, or, even worse, that those that disagree with his plans and policies don't even exist (media reporting oly 200 people attended a TEA Party when it was 8,000 to 10,000).
In this letter Obama completely ignores the polls which show the American public is overwhelmingly opposed to his plans and policies, yet, he pretends they are not, urging his minions to participate in the bought-and-paid-for political events put together by Organizing for America. Will the media notice them (if anyone even shows up)?
He calls the opposition to his "daring" plans and policies "attacks" and urges the members of his MOVEMENT to stay strong and "do what's right".
Such a shame the President of our Nation is only working for one sector of society.

August 5, 2009 - 18:52 ET by R D HelmWhat we are are fed-the-hell-up Americans who are sick to damn death of what our federal government, and particularly congress, has been doing to this country for decades.
You congress-critters have taxed and spent us into f'ing oblivion, and we have had enough.
You incompetent, power-mad elitest jerks have bankrupted Social Security, MediCare, and MediCaid, and have now voted to bankrupt this nation by blowing $12 Trillion out of the treasury we do not even have. You all lied to us about TARP, too, and Porkulus was a 100% total scam!
You are now are looking to engineer a federal government take-over of our nation's health care system, just so you can buy votes by giving illegal aliens "free" health care at the expense of us, and the lives of our parents.
You cretins lie and tell us it will only cost $900 Billion over ten years.

Anyone with half a brain knows it will easily cost three times that, and probably far more.

Me Thinks Thou Doth Protest Too Much
August 6, 2009 - 02:37 ET by reasonsjesterImagine that in 1968 you could build a time machine. Picture angry mobs, scraggly peaceniks, bricks thrown at policemen, free love, lawlessness and lots and lots of drugs, man.
Fast forward to 2009. To your surprise the same hippie radicals who were throwing molotov cocktails at police cars are in a tizzy over some law-abiding, tax-paying citizens saying 'enough is enough' at town hall gatherings to a completely out-of-control and possibly fascistic (shhh) government.
Never mind that the left's eternal activist rodeo clowns were spitting out more foul epithets than a Tourette's victim on methamphetamines throughout the entire Bush administration. Their clever repartee at Republican political rallies often included such rinse-and-repeat mantras as: Haliburton, Haliburton, Bush lied, Bush lied, No blood for oil, Bushitler, Bushitler, Cheney sucks, Bush lied, and so on and so on in a sort of Sapruder film-like instant replay at every event from a college Republicans' meeting to a burial of an Iraqi soldier.
These are the people who are going to lecture us on what we can and cannot say and how we can say it in the public forum? I think not.
It's very simple. Alinskyite measures bait conservatives into anger so they can "display who they really are" as "frothing at the mouth right-wingers." It doesn't really matter that these law-abiding taxpayers are fed up with being lied to, stolen from, and insulted by the leftist media and their cronies. Oh no, this is irrelevant.
The self-fulfilling prophecy of the left stirring up angry reactionaries is upon them. And brother, I say we give it to them. Abide by the Constitution, do not waver, and expose them for the frauds they are.
Hey hey, ho ho! Pelosi and Boxer have got to go!
