Broadcast Networks Devote Half Their Nightly Newscasts to Obama

Earlier on Monday, my colleague Tim Graham previewed a study from the Center for Media and Public Affairs finding that Barack Obama received more television coverage in his first 50 days in office than George W. Bush and Bill Clinton did through similar points in their presidencies combined.

The final report has now been published, and the results are even more absurd.

For instance:

During his first 50 days in office, the three broadcast network evening news shows devoted 1021 stories lasting 27 hours 44 minutes to Barack Obama’s presidency. The daily average of seven stories and over 11 minutes of airtime represents about half of the entire newscasts. By contrast, at this point in their presidencies George W. Bush had received 7 hours 42 minutes and Bill Clinton garnered 15 hours 2 minutes of coverage, for a combined total airtime five hours less than Mr. Obama’s.

Wow. So the three broadcast network evening news shows have basically devoted on average about half of their entire newscasts to Obama.

Astonishing. But there's more:

CBS led the coverage with 365 stories and 10 hours 46 minutes of airtime, followed by NBC with 327 stories and 9 hours 38 minutes, and ABC with 329 stories and 7 hours 20 minutes. Thus, CBS has given more coverage to the Obama administration than all three networks combined gave to the first 50 days of George W. Bush’s presidency.

Wow.

Liberal media bias? What liberal media bias?

Put two and two together

  • The networks are devoting more coverage to Obama
  • The networks are losing viewers, dramatically

Yes, they were losing viewers before Obama, but that's not the point. The fact is that the devotion to Obama isn't justified by "the audience wants it." The audience is leaving anyway.

Waterboarding, the war on terror, etc

Hey, I have an idea...  Let's bring all of our troops home, give them a big welcome home party, and send these idiots to the middle east to show us how a kinder and gentler approach will work when dealing with terrorists.....

hey you know what I just

hey you know what I just heard, fox network said to obamma to get nicked!!! they are NOT going to air his teleprompter on wednesday night, instead they are going to run a show called 'would I lie to you', roflmao you can't make this stuff up

  If this report only

If this report only studies the evening telecasts you should also add in the morning shows where gushing about the 'Rock Star' couple is a daily theme.

Britney Effect

By 2012 he is going to suffer seriously from overexposure, like Britney Spears did. McCain hit the nail on the head with that comparison.

Wait for the "Infrastructure" Project

Just wait until they start building his pyramid, the funding is probably somewhere in the big bail out bill.

The real reason the Dem's shot down the amendment to prevent illegal aliens from getting the infrastructure jobs isn't because of the Mexicans.  It's because the Israelis are going to be moved here to build the pyramid after His "O"lliness gives their land over to the Palestinians (whoever they are).

What, it's only half?!

What, it's only half?!  Could have fooled me!

I wish the Hand of God would come down and smite that smug look off his overexposed face.

A nation cannot be free without a free, unbiased media. We are not free.

Ii Duce

There is a famous photo of Mussolini with EXACTLY the same pompous, obnoxious pose. The sad part is; most of the Obama worshipers have never even HEARD the name Musollini before, which is why the same, tired old crowd control techniques work on these idiots, they are too stupid to know propaganda when they are being influenced by it.

I peer down my nose at thee

Why is it every photo of Obama looks like he's sniffing farts and can't decide if he's pleased or disgusted.

Liberal: remove all that's Right, and this is what's Left.

Hussein's Prayer

Our Hussein, who art in the White House,
dreaded be thy name.
Thy Kingship come, thy will be done,
on MSNBC as it is in the White House
Give us this day your daily BS.
And forgive us our Carbon Credits,
as we do not forgive those who pray amongst us.
And lead us not into Universal Health Care,
but deliver us from Hilliary.
For thine is the kingship, the lies and the taxes, for ever and ever.

His worshippers think these

His worshippers think these pictures make him look omnipotent - I think he looks like Chance the Gardener.

By the way, how sickeningly huge of an ego does it take to allow your supporters and organization turn out these iconic images? It's really disturbing.

The Press in America

It is not so much that the media fawn over Barry Obama, but rather that their continued attacks on anyone who disagrees with them have reached a boiling point. Senator Thompson said it best recently, "They will have unleased the dogs of war". Yes, he was referring to possible show trials, but I believe he was also implying that enough is enough. At least half, maybe more, of the people in this country would never vote for Obama. To have him shoved down our throats and to lie about him is insulting, especially coming from the immature, ignorant morons in the press. Their propaganda is becoming almost intolerable. Moreover, their so-called "journalism" is a deliberate casting aside of their Constitutional responsibilty. It is tearing the nation apart.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

Isn't He going to hold yet

Isn't He going to hold yet another press conference during prime time this week?

About what?  Know it's not about swine flu as this was arranged a while ago...

Apparently Fox News is skipping it...LOL

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).

Is there a picture anywhere

Is there a picture anywhere of theis arrogant a$$hole not looking down his nose at us peasants?

This presidency is going to

This presidency is going to cause me to have a stroke! How can a man that is supposed to be so damn smart dis-regard logic on such a large scale?

Obama still trails "W" in Gallup poll.

By golly, Noel. Obama gets more coverage than Bush and Clinton combined, and it's very much more positive coverage (and, I'd bet it's even more lopsided in the big papers - NYT's, WaPost, LATimes, etc) - but, in spite of all of the glowing coverage, with much of the WH effort being to pit Obama against perceived Bush failures and the MSM pushing the effort along, Gallup's 100 day polling showed (but not revealed):

OBAMA'S POLL NUMBERS TRAIL THOSE OF W.; GALLUP COVERS IT UP

Gallup reports that 56% of the public believes that Obama is doing an excellent/good job. Gallup reported 62% approved of George W. Bush's job performance after the first 100 days. MSM tells us how popular Barack Obama is but the numbers tell a different story especially when used comparatively. Comparing the Gallup poll taken following the first 100 day of George W. Bush and Barack Obama is rather informative especially given the highly contentious nature of the 2000 election.

Furthermore, just how did Obama's first 100 days compare to other recent presidents (hint - loser. The only one he beats is Clinton):

April approval ratings in first year in office
Bush,    2001 62%
Clinton, 1993 55%
Bush,    1989 58%
Reagan, 1981 67%
Carter,   1977 63%
Nixon,   1969 61%

And the more interesting surprise (interesting for the MSM)? First Lady Laura Buhs fared better than Ms. 'First time I'm proud of America.' :

The same discrepancy can be found in the celebration of Michelle popularity. 79% approve of her performance compared to 85% that approved of Laura Bush.

Betcha that few Americans hear the news.
